Character: Alphen Canon: Tales of Arise Canon Point: After Vholran murders Almeidrea
Crime: Insurrection and treason against the Lords of Rena
Background: Personality-wise, Alphen is a well-meaning himbo who might not have a single braincell to speak of, but he sure does have a good heart. He's friendly, kind, and a very good listener, so people tend to feel comfortable opening up to him. He also is very non-secretive about himself, so he'll happily tell you anything about himself that you wanna know. And he loves firing people up with inspiring speeches about friendship and Doing The Right Thing. It's kind of cheesy. He does not notice.
Thing is, his whole backstory is basically "one year ago I woke up with amnesia." At his current canon point, he doesn't remember anything about his past...and! He's unable to feel pain, which is fun. Both of which he's theorized have something to do with the mask he wears, but he doesn't know for sure. It's wild.
Because of his inability to feel pain, he tends to be a bit of a reckless do-gooder who will happily throw his body in front of someone else's to protect them. He's kind of the epitome of a paladin in some ways. He's becoming more thoughtful about that as time goes on, trying to find ways to help others while also taking care of himself. He also likes spicy food. Like, really spicy. Like, it might kill you. Basically, he tries.
Abilities: -As a Dahnan, Alphen has no astral artes to speak of, but he's an accomplished fighter who ~mysteriously~ happens to be very good with a sword. -He usually wears plate armor, so he's not super easy to hit, but you will definitely hear him coming from a ways off. -He has this nifty thing called the Blazing Sword, which is basically just a giant fire stick that he swings around and makes things feel ouchie. -Since he can't feel pain, it doesn't even bother him that the Blazing Sword burns him too! Bonus!
Plans: -I really want to put Alphen in a position where he's aggressively Doing Good By Fighting, so if you're looking for someone to fight in order to protect, he's your guy -Would also be very interested in having him do an act of selflessness to help someone who has been branded -Expect a lot of him being very inflexible about letting others kill the branded; as in, he'll fight to neutralize them if they're being dangerous, but he absolutely won't let anyone kill one of them when he's nearby. -I'm very flexible, and so, am very open to whatever anyone else might want to do!
