a wild player plot (or two) approaches !!
Hello everyone! It's Jenni, the local medieval monarch-player here.
Not too long ago Richard put up another call for action post up, proposing that The Chosen get properly organized and would form their own defense squad to keep the city safe! There's already been support from IC side of thing so I thought why not put up a proper OOC plotting post.
AKA. I wanna do a thing and don't know how, lmao.
So, this post serves two purposes: character signups and OOC Plotting on how to actually bring this into reality on practical level. Cuz I'm dumb and do not want to call the shots. Also honestly, if you leave this up for Richard he would probably try to make Aldrip a medieval fortress. Basically, the agenda currently consist of the following problems 1) How to come together as an organization 2) How to strengthen the defenses around the city. 3) Alternative communication methods that does not rely on Tablets.
Currently the ongoing ideas are:
- forming a patrol & recon groups to go around the city & forest and other surrounding areas. (tho if character wants to go alone that's good too)
- build signal fire stations (can you tell that this is Richard's)
- look into more supernatural solutions to fix the issues with communication (telepathy, magical soul resonance etc).
This player plot is not only for fighters or military people only! All kinds of talents & ideas & skills are welcomed. So nerds, pacifists, diplomats, anarchists, healers and indescribable.. I am pspspsps'ing at you.
Also wildcard option.... this is pretty wild but! Richard has had some IC discussions with couple of people about The Chosen potentially forming a council of their own, where they would vote for representatives etc etc. IDK, this is very much in idea level but I guess I am asking what ppl think of this kind of player plot?

Questions & Concerns!
Character signups
Character signups - Pike
Abilities: Normal guy, but highly intelligent with knowledge of the future and exceptional piloting and leadership abilities.
How would they like to contribute: Pike would probably do really well in a town council role, a planning role, or a violence deescalation role. He's also competent with weapons and capable of hand-to-hand combat, but he's like 50 so maybe don't lay grandpa out.
Anything else: Look at his giant hair. How can you say no to that hair.
Levi
Abilities: Mostly guns. He's ex-military so is good with combat and following orders. He knows so magic but almost never uses it.
Anything else: The only joke Levi know is himself :(

Yuri
Abilities: Just some guy that can do some cool tricks with a sword.
How would they like to contribute: He definitely prefers field work more than anything else, he's a man of action and all that.
Anything else: Why don't we use swords anymore? Because they're no longer cutting edge technology!
no subject
Abilities: do everything a spider can
How would they like to contribute: he patrols already, so he would be on the offensive/defensive teams
Anything else: I DONT HAVE GOOD JOKES
Miller
Abilities: No powers, but he is a career soldier who became the commander of a guerrilla force in the post-nuclear apocalypse.
How would they like to contribute: Miller is prepared to be pretty versatile here depending on what contributions are needed most. He has a lot of experience as a leader and thus, directly planning operations and organizing/directing troops, but he's also a bit reluctant to fully launch himself back into a role like that and would probably be more inclined to contribute in group discussion of strategy, etc. More individually, he's pretty knowledgeable of hand to hand combat and more modern weaponry (knives, guns, grenades, and so on, including a lot of apocalyptic custom shit) and he's happy to help teach.
Anything else: I got nothing but ilu Jenni

But yayy!! Welcome to the team Petey!!

But yay! I'm glad that Yuri is here. ;)

Abilities: Organization/logistics/negotiation type things; he's been the head of an international company for several years, so he's an ideas/leader guy. And he can provide some medical supplies thanks to his new-old business. He's totally normal and definitely doesn't have a dozen powers! It will probably come out soonish that he knows some fencing, but he will say it's just as a sport and he's not suited for fighting outside of emergencies. Feel free to drag him to practice.
Anything else: so we have the signal fires idea, and zek would still be interested in pursuing some kind of beacon/alarm/lighthouse type system if they can get the resources. (somebody could put in for an ac reward maybe??) so it could be like an electric light when the power's on but fires could be used instead if that's unavailable? plus whatever can make noise.
Also zek is of the mind that knowledge is power, so the more they can inform Chosen about escape routes, safehouses, whatever signals they send out, etc, the better equipped they'll be to deal with stuff. Maybe they can set up a bulletin board in the city center (or wherever the group sets up) with that kind of thing??
as far as ooc logistics goes - depending on player interest, i could see an occasional "city defense squad" log for the purposes of sorting through consequences of recent events (for example, cleaning up and rebuilding the damage after the dark hour), patrolling/exploring as an excuse for characters to meet/get involved in whatever shenanigans they want, meetups to discuss strategy/preparation for the future, and any actual results that could come from that discussion?

Abilities: Transforming superhero! She can do a lot. The best summary of her ability is "anything that can be conveyed with CG, gunpowder, and wires on a children's tv show budget". (obviously it's more detailed than that but i ain't writing an essay in this post.)
How would they like to contribute: She is a patrolling hero with a motorcycle. She's here to fight monsters and protect people. She also can... try to teach people how to fight.
That said, for others with superpowers, she is also surprisingly sharp, and might be able to help other people figure out ways to expand or strengthen their own powers.
Anything else:

Abilities: Morph is a shapeshifter and a jack-of-all-trades physically. You need someone with a lot of muscle? Morph can do that. You need someone to fly around? Morph can do that, too. Animal forms are also included.
How would they like to contribute: Morph is most ideal either as a scout or in combat situations. They're also used to working with a team so they operate better with others, but they can also go solo if needed.
Anything else: Pavlov walks into a bar. The phone rings, and he says, "Damn, I forgot to feed the dog."

abilities: human... man... but like, he shoots arrows REAL GOOD. also very solid at cqc (trained by captain america, innit!!) and more than solid (but less than 'earth's greatest') with swords. also proficient with the bo-staff.
...also good, like, acrobatically, because he grew up in the circus and did aerial trapeze.
also2 he's okay with strategising, he's just impatient as fuck.
additionally, he's deaf and does know how to lip-read and is fluent in ASL, so there's also... that... AND vagabond code. he'll teach y'all useful graffiti.
how would they like to contribute: field + v. willing to train (archery, combat, swords, whatever, how to work in a team.)
anything else: the joke's me

ANYWAY, yay! i am v excited that miller's part of this & ready to be active. if there's suggestions what they should make i'm all ears.

But oh! These are good suggestions. I should contact mod page and ask what kind of modifications can be done around the city (beacons/alarms/sturdier walls/etc). As for bulletin board: interesting! How would that like work in practice or did you think it'd be more or less handwaved thing?
Ohhh, city defense squad log would sound cool! Maybe it could be part of the training log that also occasionally goes up? Tho I could also see that risking making it cluttered :|a
Anyway! I do like these ideas.

advertisements for Richard's businessdirecting Chosen to the inn/defense group, etc? Potentially it could be linked to an info post that gets updated with current goings-on or something, but that's a lot of work long term and I'm not sure if that would be worthwhile, compared to just getting new characters in the door somewhere to talk to oldbies with answers. 🤔 My thought would be basically just having it in the setting as a conversation piece/resource rather than a thread-able thing.I did think about the possibility of combining defense stuff with the training log, and it would definitely make sense as a combined effort, but I think that ultimately comes down to the level of interest which is always hard to gauge beforehand lmao. Maybe like... one section training, one section defense discussion/recruitment, one section defense squad action to help separate it out, or something? If you did want to try it. :0

Abilities: she also does whatever a spider can!!
How would they like to contribute: Gwen is also always out patrolling, so she's all for helping with any organized patrol and recon groups!
Anything else: Why is Spider-Man always so good at witty comebacks?
Because with great power, comes great response ability!
Re: Character signups
Abilities: No supernatural powers whatsoever, but excellent fighting skills and lots of military experience
How would they like to contribute: Field work! Patrols!! Give her something to do!!! She'll eschew the council-making plans (she has nothing against it and figures it sounds like an objectively good idea, she just has no interest in being involved personally) and also won't be particularly interested in leadership positions, but she's happy to go out
looking for troublescouting either solo or in pairs/small groups.Anything else: SORRY I'M LATE
