Welcome to Expiation's CR meme! This is a post where players can plot with each other on the direction they'd like to go for the month, and so on and so forth. There's a form below for you to fill out below, so get plotting!

We're now inclding an EMP element since it's an app month! We have an APP THIS PLEASE and ENABLE ME PLEASE in the comments below with a form, so if you're interested in participating, use the form and comment under the subject title applicable. Other than that, the regular comments will go as a normal CR meme would!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!: DECEMBER TDM Starting this month, we're combining the monthly mingle and TDM into one log! This means that current characters will be able to post a top-level on the TDM, as well as prospective characters of course. Please note that the December TDM will also be forward-dated to DECEMBER 18th. We don't want to start anything too close to Christmas, but forward-dating to the middle of the month will give players and their characters some time to settle down after November's event. Here's a little preview of what we're cooking up: DECEMBER ARRIVALS Whatever pulls the Chosen into the world of Expiation seems to have gone absolutely haywire this month. New characters will find themselves appearing all over, with no rhyme or reason to it. Appearing in someone's house? A random kitchen? In a wagon traveling somewhere else? A grain silo (iykyk, right), directly in the lake or in someone's shower...everything is fair game. Hopefully no one's in the middle of changing when they're intruded upon, yikes! THE WINTER SOLSTICE Aldrip has a curious custom on the darkest night of the year. It's said that all should lock their doors and darken their lights, as gifts given on this night can be particularly wicked and play tricks on the receiver. True enough, most Chosen will find a mysterious box appearing on their doorstep (or, if they don't have a doorstep, mysteriously on or near their person). Some of these boxes may contain harmless treats or trinkets such as charming talismans to hang, or tins of cookies. Some others mysteriously contain nothing...but the next morning, when Chosen with empty boxes awake, they find prankster-like tricks have been played on them overnight. We leave the extent of these tricks in your hands for now: these effects can be anything you like, from the ability to float to their skin turning purple. Just bear in mind that these should be minor effects, additions, or inconveniences, rather than major powers. The effects will last for at least 24 hours, but could take a few days to wear off. Unfortunately for them, the other part of the tradition is a giant feast the evening after the Solstice. So if they want to try any of the food, they'll have to show their face around town...and all the spots, cat ears, or whatever you can cook up that they've been afflicted with. YOU ALL KNEW THIS WAS COMING The morning after doors close for Solstice, strange plants begin to appear around town. Yep, you guessed it, these are different varieties of mistletoe, and they're here to spread...holiday cheer? Strangely, these sprigs seem to sport different-colored berries, and each berry color seems to have a different effect: White berries: the traditional kissing variety! Red berries: this variety encourages you to fight the person you're stuck with, rather than kissing. Purple berries: Rather than kissing or fighting, one can only be released from this particular mistletoe by one of the victims sharing a secret with the other. Some of these are harmless sprigs of greenery, and you can just ignore them. Some others are plagued by tiny creatures that come to be known as Missile Toads, which launch sticky substances at feet to keep them stuck under the mistletoe until they fulfill the plant's needs. A CRYSTALLINE CALL An interesting phenomenon begins to happen around this time of year around the Lorentia Caves. It sounds almost like a mournful wailing, or like harsh wind blowing through the caves. Sometimes, though, it begins to sound strange: mechanical, distorted. Investigating this strange sound yields few results: there are no wailing humans or sad robots hidden in the caves at this time, unfortunately! But there are tunnels for exploring (and a rumored dragon), as well as some strange, palm-sized rocks that seem to glow when handled. They don't seem to do much, other than make for a nice reading light, but they can be taken from the cave as a charming souvenir. When one progresses far enough within the caves, they begin to feel a sense of urgency demanding that they turn back and leave. This feeling progresses the more they go on, until they finally give in and turn around.

About: hello! i did post to the last EMP but then everything exploded (it was a canon event...) so i am back here again with my BS, stronger and more annoying than ever... points to eyes points at everyone

i'm looking to bring in vash the stampede from trigun stampede, a well-meaning guy who is all about love and peace in the world at the expense of nothing important (read: himself).

he hates: violence, murder, wet socks, getting shot at when he's just trying to live (please), running out of bullets just when he needs them (not to kill obv), himself (a lot of this, watch out)
he loves: pizza, humanity, making friends, donuts (that's a different adaptation but who doesn't hate donuts), deluding himself into thinking that he's doing A Good Job (debatable, the jury's still out), pretending that Everything Is Fine (it is not)

Crime: Failure to prevent the Ashen Future.

Background/Personality:

A bloodthirsty demonic warlord who personifies chaos. Yuber has appeared on battlefields throughout human history, usually marching under the banner of whoever summoned him. He is extremely cruel and relentless in battle, basking in fear, violence, and discord because he is fueled by it. When he can't drink in chaos, he becomes quiet and withdrawn.

That said, he isn't as unhinged as he at first seems to be. A long history of mercenary work makes him used to taking orders. He is content to let people hold on to his leash and give him direction as long as he gets to experience the chaos of war, and he will only drop out of a conflict when his side is no longer able to supply such chaos. Despite his nature, he isn't necessarily evil. His bloodthirst is an almost animalistic need. He doesn't care who he works with, he just cares that they give him ways to satisfy his cravings. An army fighting to get out from under an oppressive regime is just as likely to earn Yuber's allegiance as an evil wizard.

Abilities:

Sorcery: Yuber can launch magical blasts of explosive force, summon skeletal monsters, and teleport. He can also see magic that is normally outside the visible spectrum. For example, if a location had an invisible magical barrier around it, he could walk the perimeter of the barrier and identify any points of weakness. This ability extends to sensing magic on others (though this would be on a case-by-case basis with player characters/NPCs etc).

Summoned monsters are usually shambling skeletal humanoids with swords or bull-sized horned creatures. He will need to learn how to manifest something like the Bone Dragon again. If that happens, it will likely be a major event.

Arcane Knowledge: As an ancient sorcerer, he has a vast knowledge of spellcraft, can concentrate intently when casting a channeled spell, and knows a lot about rituals. This knowledge of rituals won't help him perform ones from home in game, but with time he could learn to sense when someone else has just performed one. He also won't bring spells outside of the above mentioned explosive force, summoning, and teleportation. Other spells are derived from components or artifacts he won't have access to outside his world.

Spirit Sense: His kinship with death allows him to see and communicate with the ghostly spirits of the dead.

Swordsmanship: Superhuman strength and dexterity make Yuber a potent swordsman. He is comfortable with all types of blades and can move so quickly that he can parry arrows and bullets. He can use his magic to split into three phantasmal versions of himself and attack from multiple directions at once for a few seconds. (This ability used to come from a technique Rune called the Eight Devil Rune.)

Physiology: As a physical manifestation of chaos, Yuber does not need to eat, drink, or sleep. He can move in complete silence, even when wearing full plate armor, and he leaves no footprints and casts no shadow. He can heal from most non-grievous injuries quickly, which means weapons like arrows don't do much unless they hit his heart. Any that he fails to parry away from him, he'll just pull from his body. He can shrug off most magical attacks unless they come from a particularly powerful source. If he falls in combat, his body destabilizes and explodes into shadows instead of ever leaving a corpse. He can still communicate while this happens. Normally, this is when his soul returns to his home dimension, but in a game setting, this would be considered a death.

To kill him, someone would need to sever his head or pierce his heart. This is easier said than done due to Yuber's healing, speed, and tendency to teleport away if he senses he's in danger. It's still completely doable, but it would probably need to be a group effort most of the time.

Plans: Villainous villain doing villain things. Sort of! Yuber is very capable of getting along with people if their goals align with his. With his crime being the failure to prevent the Ashen Future he will be more likely to play nice with other characters to learn what is going on.

About: First off, Marie is Astralin's niece. So any mention of her uncle being here will surprise her so feel free to have fun with that. But Marie is a military instructor but also head mistress of an academy. If anyone asks, she's either a war hero or a war criminal.

She was made to be a weapon, but she doesn't act like it. She has a foul mouth, but is very carefree. She has a violent side to her and will kill anyone she has to get what she wants but as long as people don't like. Mess with her people, then she's actually really chill to be around.

tl;dr she's nice until she's not nice and she will kill on a whim or if someone instructs her to. Her crime is LIKELY genocide. She has killed thousands of people during the war and she's honestly not scared or shameful to admit it. SHE'S REALLY POLAR OPPOSITE OF HER UNCLE LMAO she's also slightly insane because her brother died at some point but got revived.

If you know nothing about Haru, that’s fine because I’m here to tell you that she’s one badass character. Introduced as a shy, not so confident, stuck under the weight of her father’s expectations kind of girl. She blossoms into a kind, strong girl who finds her confidence in the later half of the game. TRULY AN INJUSTICE SHE WAS INTRODUCED SO LATE.

About: i'm thinking of a few things! the winning crime is this one:
"giving up" - yuka was going into japanese art to please their wonderful, incredible grandmother and therefore their horrible parents, but they gave up and left their further studies because it wasn't for them.

ryuji ayukawa is a non-binary, female presenting artist, fashionista, a normie! powerless, just a normal person i will drop into this setting. they're snarky, cutesy, playful, seemingly confident and certain of who they are... except, they're really not. they are full of insecurities about who they are, what they like, what is the path that is right for them. they believe that having to conform to what is expected of them is a death sentence, but at the same time, they also conform to certain expectations to make life easier, which they are unhappy about too. they often are scared and anxious about others think of them - but they are often there for others, loyal, proud of their growth, and willing to help them through it. yuka's very popular due to looks, personality, and fashion sense. has hella loving followers. they're honest with their feelings, willing to talk about them, and has great empathy. someone who isn't emotionally constipated!!! unfortunately, they do lash out though........

i would like to give yuka some powers through rewards, some ideas are:
physical effects through words: insult someone, give them physical damage. being nice to someone, feel good feefees, luck, those kinda nice things! better hair for the day?

picture to object: draw picture get object, etc.

they'd also have to navigate being a normie in a world that is not at all like theirs, also to deal with having to find a calling in here. i'd also like for them to face their own insecurities through the game, understanding their identity and their desires.

About: Commmmpletely different from my current character, Hazuki is a bright and cheerful magical girl who's had a tragic upbringing. As an orphan, she grew up in Azalea House, only to have to leave when the orphanage would close down. As all magical girls in PMMM get a wish, Hazuki used her wish, along with her two friends, to save the orphanage for the other girls, at the expense of having to leave and being forgotten by everyone there.

Hazuki wants the best for people, in particular her two friends, Ayame and Konoha. Without them, she'll be doing her best to manage on her own but she'll struggle a little due to being used to always having them around. She's diplomatic and works towards working together with everyone, so I think she'd be fun to play in game!

She's a relatively minor character so she doesn't get a ton of stories, but she's my favorite magical girl. (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ Overall, I'd want her to work with people to help everyone.

About: Claudine belongs to that sweet category of Lesbians with Swords. She's a formed child star and now a theater kid at prestigious academy, while partaking in underground "auditions" taking a form of a battle to death to figure out who is the true Top Star. It's all very Utena-esque (if you know, you know). Claudine is kinda haughty girl, very confident in her own skills and competitive! but she kinda deals with some inferiority issues because despite her brilliance she is always only number two. She's also kinda obsessed by the girl holding rank 1 in their classes.

Um,, but overall? very nice? kinda cute. she got a temperance, wants to be the best but actually very nice and supportive? I am thinking of putting her on upcoming TDM to see if I have her voice down or not. for potential character arc: figure out how to live on her own without comparing herself on the other girl all the time.

Currently leaning toward his crime being familial neglect so he can be super offended at the hypocrisy of the Expiation Powers That Be in taking him away from said family to bring him here, though the shitpost alternative is reckless destruction of property considering he is often called the "Crusher for Justice" in his superhero role bc he never really cares much about damage fines when he's doing his thing...

Abilities: Healing magic, slightly divinely blessed to sword's, and horseback riding

Plans: In general: get back into it! I have felt rather behindhand for the past couple of weeks because I have been very RL busy and/or tired.

Ethlyn needs to recruit for the Arztenritter, the horseback-riding healers who can act as EMTs during emergencies like the one that recently happened. Right now they're down to 4, including herself. To that end, she's going to be hosting a first-aid learning day at the new conference center that hosted the casino some months back--aka a mingle log for anyone who wants to learn some emergency medicinal skills, be aggressively recruited, and enjoy Healthy Snacks. She also runs the Willow Clinic, so if your character gets an injury, an illness, or has Anime Plot Disease, you can feel free to hit her up.

She's also pretty flipping pissed at the Rumpiturans for doing human sacrifice and really worried about the thing they were doing human sacrifices to. She doesn't have much experience fighting monsters of that scope (monsters not being a thing where she's frome) but she would like to. Solve that problem. Because she's pretty sure that thing is going to come for Aldrip if Rumpitur can't keep it appeased with fresh meat.

Crime: Literally getting involved with the Mafia

Background/Personality: ATsuna is the reluctant heir to the Vongola Mafia Family. As a result, Tsuna is kind of torn between wanting to be a normal kid living a normal life but also someone needs to reform the mafia. His life is a chaotic mess and he is forever catching up to it, but that's apparently the way it goes when you're a mafia boss. He is also very kind and tends to accept people very easily.

He didn't ask for trouble but it follows him home anyway.

Abilities: Tsuna's main power is the Dying Will Flames. He can use them to fight and to fly and a variety of other things. His flames in particular are Sky Flames, which have the power of harmonization.

Plans:
-After everything that happened with the Rumpitarians and fighting the sea monster, Tsuna is probably going to be looking for a bit of a quiet period. Also, the holidays and feeling a bit homesick.

-He will be checking in with CR and making sure people are okay. Also, he did kind of put his powers on full display so if people want the shonen power explanation, he'll provide it.

-He's got a house now and is slowly trying to make it more his so if anyone wants to help with painting or other DIY tasks...please help him he's kinda pathetic.

-Definitely up for Mistletoe shenanigans (someone other than Kyoko-chan stealing Tsuna's first kiss? The scandal! Or fight him).

-I've kinda piled on the pranks and humiliation so we'll see if there's one more or he makes it through the night. Cat ears are fun though. But that long night might also be easier with a group text or something.

Crime: Breaking the oath of neutrality

Background: As the Coordinator of Kamihama City's magical girls, Mitama serves as a helpful guide and reliable ally to all hard-working girls! ... Or so she'd say. Mitama is a cheerful, lively girl who marches to the beat of her own drum, and has a bit of a mischeavous streak to her, as she enjoys teasing people and getting them into all sorts of hilarious trouble. She's the kind to plan parties and games and then drag everyone else into her fun nonsense, whether they like it or not (especially if they don't). She's happy to lend people an ear when they need it, and provides her magical services to everyone who wants it... provided they can pay the price.

But beneath all that perky and sunny persona, Mitama is extremely jaded and resentful as the result of her past experiences, and finds it difficult to truly trust others, instead choosing to hide behind her merry-go-lucky facade. That's not to say none of her usual act is real, however ─ she really does care deeply about her friends and clients, and she means well. Usually.

Abilities: Mitama is a magical girl, which comes with... A Lot of things, so feel free to check out the detailed summary here, but here's the tl;dr:
- her strength, agility, stamina and durability are far beyond those of a normal human
- her personal magic gives her the ability to access a person's soul and break it from within with curses; however, she intentionally uses it in reverse, giving her the ability of magical adjustment ─ she can strengthen other people's powers, as well as unlock their latent talents and new abilities
- doing the above also causes her to see some of the memories of the person she's adjusting ─ OOCly, this will of course only happen if the player gives their permission, but ICly... let's just say you won't be learning about that anytime soon. that's her blackmail material
- she needs a special item called Grief Seed to replenish her magical energy every so often; should she fail to do so, she will turn into a monster known as a Witch, which spreads disasters and curses among humans

- ... she's such a terrible cook it might as well be a special ability

Plans: In an attempt to lift the Chosen's spirits after the recent mess of a battle, Mitama is hosting an IC SECRET SANTA event, more info on which can be found here! Also, she can be found in her shop as always, offering to strengthen other people's powers for money, favors and everything in-between.

For TDM, the arriving characters are free to pop in her shop! Maybe she won't instantly try to rip you off... Maybe. She's also available for mistletoe shenanigans! Crime: Destroying the world. Y'know, normal stuff.

Background/Personality: The world's most wanted criminal with the highest bounty in history on his head ─ a feat he's achieved by going around the world attacking and destroying various government facilities and killing hundreds of soldiers, earning himself the nickname "Grim Reaper". Generally speaking, he's kind of an asshole: he's rude, grouchy and cynical with hair-trigger temper that often leads to a rather liberal use of violence. Thing is, despite his deadly reputation and outward grumpiness, deep inside he's actually a genuinely kind and caring guy who'd do anything to protect his loved ones and always puts their happiness and well-being before his own (sometimes to a fault). He just has tons of emotional baggage that makes it really hard for him to actually open up.

tl;dr: he's a big dumb edgy tsundere with trust issues, do with that what you will.

Abilities: You can find the full summary here, but here's a short and sweet version:
- skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as sword fighting
- has access to a wide range of spells called Ars Magus, which technically aren't magic, but would probably appear as such to someone unfamiliar with the concept
- has ridiculous regenerating abilities that allow him to survive and more or less shake off most injuries that would otherwise be fatal (they still hurt tho)
- his personal special ability (aka Drive), Soul Eater, does exactly what it says on the tin: it allows him to absorb souls/life force of living things around him. He's got it mostly under control, but touching him or even staying around him for extended periods of time puts one at risk of him involuntarily sucking the other person's life out of them. Also, using it drastically decreases his own lifespan. Oops.
- should he ever lose control over his abilities, he's in danger of turning into a giant, world-destroying monster, but don't worry. It's fine. He's fine.

Plans: Is "no" an emotion because he feels it. Between losing all his powers again and narrowly escaping becoming one of the kidnapping victims, he is completely, utterly and fully Done, his only plans for the month being sleeping and eating at the Solstice feast.

But things can be this simple for him, and since he's definitely been naughty this year, he'll be getting a prank gift, resulting in him randomly changing color palettes every so often. I'm also open to doing some mistletoe stuff, though you can bet he'll be desperately trying to dodge the kissing and secret kinds. Ew and yikes.

... He's down for the fighting ones, he's pissed off and isn't against blowing off steam.

Canon Point: the end of Patch 6.4 quest "Guided by the Past", as his living self. It's complicated.

Crime: Rebellion!

Background/Personality: A shy nerd with a heart of gold coated in a bit of salt. Suffered from substantial emotional neglect from his one surviving parent while growing up. Attempting to get over a crushing inferiority complex.

Abilities: Creation magick! He can make things. Objects. Foodstuffs. Living entities. It's nerfed here a bit (impermanent) and he tends to struggle with it more than others of his kind, but he can still do small stuff or, with a bit of added aether, he can pull off some pretty impressive feats. He can also teleport or bind things with shackling magicks (chains out of nowhere? chains out of nowhere). Add more aether and he can upgrade the binding to also freeze space, for all your put-the-boss-monster-on-lockdown needs. And that's without the transformation.

Plans: He AND his crush got abducted and almost sacrificed and he is sad about the one kid who refused to get on the boat, so he's a little upset this month. In the short-term, he plans on channeling that into finding all he can about the monster that wanted to feast on them and in restoring the land suffering from its blight.
