MAY PLAYER PLOT
Hi friends!
The Enterprise's indoor cat has escaped containment and no one told him that he's being an idiot or biting their nails over his escapades, so he's decided to take a very close look at the computational systems here (like, very close) and has said:

He has found out a few. Uh. Things? About them. Yes. What he will willingly disclose is that he is very much not interested in using these tablet phones distributed by their captors and so, he has decided to make his own. If you don't have privacy, store bought is fine.
This is where anyone who is particularly interested in getting in on this will come in:
Spock intends to recruit individuals who would not mind pointing him toward possible materials he'll need to make a computer. This means: any parts, metals, etc. that he can theoretically cobble together to make it.
That said, he will not accept:
1. Items that have preloaded software.
2. Any devices with preloaded operating systems.
He would also rather not accept anything taken by force, so that means he's willing to do odd jobs for NPCs or other characters as needed.
How will characters know he is looking? Well:
Handwritten fliers will begin cropping up in places that the Chosen typically visit. These fliers will be written in (you guessed it) code, which will eventually lead them to a set of very precise coordinates near the pier and at a very precise date. People are welcome to work as teams to solve it. Spock might also invite a character personally if he thinks they might be helpful in his endeavors! Either way, he'll dispense information about what he needs and why once they get there if he can determine they'll be above board about the process.
After that, we're looking at about two-three weeks (edit: the 19th will be the last day!) to put together all the pieces. During this time, he will also be amenable to assistance with coding! It's a lot of work to put things together, much less by yourself, so why not accept the hand where it is given?
His end goal here is to see if he can set up a local network for the Chosen where they can communicate readily without constant supervision, provided their intention is to use the technology reasonably (re: sharing information, data, and so on with the intention of figuring this place out - not staging violent uprisings!).
Anyway, throw down your thoughts or wants below. I'm happy to work with everyone. An associated log will be going up this weekend (unless I die, stay tuned) and will serve as a sort of "catch all." That way, we can have one place for all the information we have, the progress that might be being made, and opportunities for people who are interested in getting in on this to mingle.
Also: Nothing terrible will happen, don't worry. Everything will be fine.

That said, he is not smart enough to figure out Spock's puzzle so I am down for someone to either help him or have him figure it out through sheer dumb luck because sometimes that's just how things work out, you know? Open to ridiculous options here. We're talking "misreads the code so bad he follows the wrong directions, joins an unrelated scavenger hunt, and winds up at the pier through completely unrelated circumstances" type things. I'm just down for this.

However, honestly, I'm down for what is ostensibly the funniest option. My rules are: Is it funny? Is it fun? If yes to both, go for it. The ciphers he's using on the signs are not particularly complex on purpose (at least for Spock... Spock is Spock though), but a step above what would typically be expected. He wants them to be solved, just not readily!
But, also tagging along with Peter and Gwen sounds really funny also. Just dragging a lot of people along, it's fine. Welcome to this weird nerd workshop, Peter.

These are absolutely the best rules to go by. Without a doubt. The funniest option is that Peter looks at those cyphers and goes "is this an alien language I don't know. huh. oh well." and then later has it explained to him by a teenager, ending of course in the actual encounter with Spock, an alien (finally, an alien!!!)
Peter is truly out there proving that you don't have to be a nerd to join the nerd workshop. And I cannot resist a chance to involve him in things that could go wrong... help him, Mr. Spock.......

And right, super rude? Wow. Otherwise, yes please! Spock alien one of two... Mr. Stampede... His only ally in being an alien...
Yes, everything will be great and fine. What will possibly go wrong. Nothing. Zero things. There are no ominous smile emojis being thrown at me left right and center.

Tl;dr put me in coach

But, as I was saying: go with what the heart wants. Troubleshooting it with someone could definitely give you an open path to more interactions, but having Toph introduce him to Spock as "Mr. Snarky" and watch they throw dry jokes back and forth... LMAO. Poor Miller, just like: I thought we were doing something, but I guess we have to deal with this first...

If anyone's looking for a helper to figure this out, please keep me in mind!

I am more than sure that a few people will be stumbling blind into this because I welcome maximum chaos only (as you know).

Tho!!! He can bring snacks AND he usually knows a guy who knows a guy so finding resources is absolutely a possibility!!!

She's suspicious of the devices they've been given, cause she's used trackers and things before while working. But from 2012 so her smartphone knowledge is limited. She builds small gadgets in her free time so she'd probably know where to find some things.
