Monday, July 15. Characters wake to a message on their tablets, bearing a seldom-seen emergency symbol. Leaving their homes, the Chosen realize two things: one, the locals seem to be glitching more than usual, and two, somehow, they cannot leave the city. The message they receive is as follows:

⚠️GNOSIA INFECTION DETECTED

THE ERADICATION OF YOUR EXISTENCE IS IMMINENT; PLEASE TREAT THE INFECTION ACCORDINGLY. YOU HAVE 7 DAYS BEFORE YOUR PROJECTED DESTRUCTION.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU ELIMINATE THE GNOSIA.

Shortly after the message goes live, all characters are assigned a role: GNOSIA, DOCTOR, GUARDIAN ANGEL, AC FOLLOWER, or CREW. Somehow, you know intrinsically.

In short, July’s world effects have triggered a citywide Gnosia infection. Welcome to the event for July! We’ll be playing a city wide round of Gnosia, y’all. For context, Gnosia is a werewolf style game wherein there are two factions: GNOSIA VS HUMANS.

Gnos is seemingly an alien force or God. An aberration, a kind of glitch-like creature that infects people and turns them into Gnosia. Gnosia all have the same goal: the extinguishment of life and subsumption into the Gnos. But what is Gnos, in actuality? I won’t spoil the fun; that may be more plot relevant than you know at this moment.

All of Aldrip will be forced to interact and engage with one another in a much smaller and more tight knit proximity than usual. NPCs are not behaving as expected; you may notice that they appear to be “loading” when you enter locations, and that they aren’t behaving as humanly or seamlessly as they should. Should players opt out of this event, they’ll be able to retain some level of normalcy despite this. While this happens, participating characters in Aldrip will be pushed closer and closer towards the center of the city.

We have five roles: Gnosia, Doctor, Guardian Angel, AC Follower, and Crew.

GNOSIA

So, when you’re infected with Gnos, you become Gnosia. You have an instinct to kill and cannot fight it. Some Gnosia are inclined towards sadism and brutality, even going as far as to do very unsavory things to their victims before killing them (or holding them hostage) while others are actually more honorable, not wanting to kill their victims painfully or lie to achieve their goals. It aligns with the person’s personality, ultimately. To be Gnosia is not a complete subversion of your personality or some transformation into a villain, inherently – it’s moreso a state of being that taps into the worst parts of you and coaxes them out to extreme degrees. All Gnosia have to kill, and while some are capable of feeling guilt over it, it does not deter them from manipulating, lying, or brutalizing people.

A murder by Gnosia is certain death, as they warp reality to essentially wipe you out of existence. It does not matter how physically powerful or capable you are; Gnosia have the ability to effectively bend the laws of reality and stop time to remove you from the world as we know it. Gnosia try to seem as human as possible to avoid being detected. Gnosia have special forms that they can activate on will, so feel free to get wild with how their appearances might change! Gnosia generally work together, but it’s up to you whether or not you want your character to cooperate. All Gnosia are privy to who else is Gnosia. We’ve also implemented a mechanic that allows Gnosia to kill each other if they so desire. Not in the game, but who doesn’t love a little friendly fire, right? Gnosia can only use their insta-kill mechanic once per day.

AC Follower

A standard human being who is a devout follower of the Gnosia; it’s a form of cultism, where a human being will do anything to help the Gnosia achieve their goal, even if they’re inevitably killed by them.

On the CREW side, we have:

Doctor

A Doctor, in this event, is a person who can cure a Gnos infection. Within the context of this event, curing someone essentially kills the “Gnos” part of them. They can only do this once per day. You can decide how you want your character to cure this infection. Want to play out surgery? Go for it! Regardless of your character’s medical credentials or morality, they are the only people capable of eliminating Gnosia.

If your character is Gnosia and was cured, they can either be unconscious for the rest of the event or become Crew.

Guardian Angel

Can protect anyone from a Gnosia’s insta-kill attack. They can only do this once per day. Guardian Angels have the ability to interfere with the space time continuum and block Gnosia attack. Think of it as a magical ability your character has been granted.

Crew

A regular human being, but still integral to winning.

This event ends after seven days. So, on Monday, July 22, the invisible walls keeping characters in Aldrip disappear. Everyone who was killed comes back. Any former-Gnosia who was cured and unconscious wakes up. The NPCs return to normal. There will, as always, be an OOC poll that goes up when the event post drops.

How does this work OOCly?
Players will either choose their character’s role, or can sign up for RNG in the comments of this post, where we will randomize it for you. Opting out of the event takes the form of assigning a character the role of “crew” and letting them live their normal life.

Characters keep their normal powers and abilities regardless of the role they are assigned. Additionally, all effects from the July SOTG/plotting posts will remain in play, if you wish to use them.

The exposition and message provided will be more extensive in the log itself. This is a plotting heavy event; however, if you are more OTA to spontaneity, you can mark any future top levels indicating that you’re open to character death and so on. This event deeply encourages and emphasizes CR–it was explicitly designed to give characters opportunities to kill or save others when they typically wouldn’t. It is oriented around testing the limits and boundaries of your CR, or cultivating new CR in a fraught week, rife with tension as people have to gauge who is being honest and who isn’t. Please feel welcome to get creative with and ask as many questions as needed!

Gimme rng they all sounds great????

Hi everyone! I'm the one responsible for this event and will be writing a majority of the log for it. Just wanted to throw some tidbits in here.

Gnosia characters have stats! This will not be a part of the event beyond inspiring specific prompts, but feel free to think about them in relation to your character for funsies. I'll be posting a template soon. Gnosia themselves also 1) are informed by past trauma and will canonically be reminded of it 2) have cool forms you can come with! (this image is hard on the eyes, so be careful!)
