Welcome to Expiation's CR meme! This is a post where players can plot with each other on the direction they'd like to go for the month, and so on and so forth. There's a form below for you to fill out below, so get plotting!

We're now inclding an EMP element since it's an app month! We have an APP THIS PLEASE and ENABLE ME PLEASE in the comments below with a form, so if you're interested in participating, use the form and comment under the subject title applicable. Other than that, the regular comments will go as a normal CR meme would! Also, the TDM will be posted in the log comm with old and new characters alike able to top-level on it.

AUGUST SUMMARY

DATABREACH UPDATE.

It's gotten worse. The glitches and issues that began in July are still in effect, and unfortunately, they seem to be ramping up. Glitches in August become more severe and also more persistent, happening with more frequency and longer duration. Some people may find the effects last longer or leave a lingering effect. Some may notice that the environment around them has lost quite a bit of its stability. The setting of Expiation as well as the local NPCs of Expiation can be affected, and those effects are nearly limitless, so long as they don't permanently damage the setting. Some ideas to get you thinking:

-Extreme weather. Temperatures and atmospheric conditions will begin to fluctuate wildly: one city block could be experiencing a severe heat wave, while the next block seems to be having a blizzard. Hurricane-force winds, torrential downpours, and hail may suddenly start up and then vanish, leaving only damage in their wake.

-Natural disasters may begin to affect small pockets of Aldrip and the surrounding areas. Earthquakes, severe storms, tidal waves, floods, and any other conditions you can think of are fair game, whether they exist in the real world or in fiction.

-NPCs may glitch in extreme ways. This could include a catastrophic failure (a "blue screen," if you will), or something much more personal, such as taking on characteristics or memories from loved (or loathed) ones back home.

-Entire buildings and blocks may change without warning. The residential district may become a desolate wasteland, or maybe the park across the street is suddenly a gigantic skyscraper. Maybe your home is now in outer space. How's the gravity in there?

-Thus far, the Chosen and locals have enjoyed the ability to communicate without issue. However, whatever allows them all to understand each other seems to be breaking down as well. Characters may find themselves unable to understand or communicate with each other, even speaking in languages they don't canonically know.

Remember: these are just ideas. The glitches experienced at this point can be anything you can think of, and we encourage you to get creative with these effects for your characters and for the setting!

IN SPITE OF GLITCHES...

Life continues on. As we've gone to around 60 players, we will be opening apps to both new and current players. New arrivals appear in the same timeframe as usual, but it may not be smooth sailing as they try to navigate a city rapidly descending into chaos.

Bon Odori begins on August 13, and with it comes a celebration of lights and remembrance. New and current Chosen are encouraged to both attend, and dress up for the occasion, whether they're used to wearing a yukata or not. There will be food, drink, activities...and certainly nothing could possibly go wrong.

Background: Standard JRPG tragic background (born wealthy and lost family and home at a young age, grew up poor), except she decided to become a clown instead of finding a magical amulet and going off on a quest with a band of adventurers.

Abilities: She can sing and she can dance and she can swallow swords and smash a stone on someone's chest with a hammer, but without killing people.

Plans: At this point I think I'm just gonna focus on getting my RP feet in this game.

Sometimes you gotta start small and August might be a heck of a month for me.

How can you run into my character? She is bold, inquisitive, makes a show of herself, and isn't shy about introducing herself to other people so I can probably find excuses to have her pester other people pretty fucking easily.

About: He's just a nervous little guy! Peter is a genetically-altered (enhanced) kid from Queens, a Spiderman a little to the left of the current MCU flavor; the canonpoint I'm considering taking him from is a few years post TASM2, right on the cusp of entering grad school, but before his appearance in NWH. This puts him at about age 24 and #suffering (what else is new?)

I promised I would throw him up on the TDM, but I'm still workshopping his crime. Something to emotionally devastate him and activate his guilt complex, no doubt. Potentially a 'Bad Samaritan' accusation?

Crime: James Tiberius Kirk: You are hereby charged with Criminal Negligence, with respect to your assumed Command Responsibility as Captain aboard the USS Enterprise.

Starfleet Code Violations:

Background: Jim's had a hard road, but ultimately, he's righted the wrongs of his universe insofar as he's able. Born in the middle of the destruction of the USS Kelvin, a tragedy which claimed his father's life, Jim's been fighting to survive all his life. His path, though drastically altered from his TOS counterpart, led him to the same place - the youngest Captain in Starfleet, commanding the USS Enterprise on her five-year mission to explore deep space.

Abilities: If Jim had DnD stats, he'd be near max on intelligence and charisma. He completed a six-year, intensive Command track program at Starfleet in three years, mastering the skills necessary for his captaincy. He's proficient in hacking and programming, and has been certified as a pilot and marksman, per Starfleet regulations. Outside of his above-average (for a human) intelligence, Jim doesn't have any extra abilities - unless you consider luck, as some would ascribe his solutions.

Plans: Jim's settling into the aftermath of the Gnosia situation namely the bond in his brain that plugs directly into Spock; he's going to go on his apology tour and be hard at work prepping for the STEM club [REDACTED]. If anyone would like to see him outside of that, please let me know! Happy to play with glitch effects (their house, glitching into the interior of the Enterprise?), but no open post from him on that front this month~

How can you run into my character?

Jim will be working furiously this month, leading up to the STEM club player plot. If you're around the club building at all, you may start to wonder if he actually lives there. Details of the player plot will be incoming soon, but for now there will be a STEM log going up prior to the plot - if you want to run into him there!

Jim's apology tour! Anyone he ran into while ravaged by the Gnosia infection will be receiving profuse and sincere apologies, whether they want them or not. This could be in the form of a visit, or a gift left at the door, depending on your sensibilities.

Is Spock there? Jim's not far behind. If you think those two are acting a little weird this month...shut up, no they're not.

Richard Plantagenet | Requiem of the Rose King

Crime: Existing. :)

Background: Born to medieval England during a civil war known as The War of Roses, young Richard sure did have lot of prove. He grew up angry murder goblin that wanted nothing more than to slaughter his enemies and bathe in glory. And so! Into the war did he go. What he got out from there was even bigger thirst for blood violence, daddy issues, self-esteem issues, hallucinations that he refers as ghosts, pstd and desire to get rid of his family and others who would stand in his way to become a king.

So, Requiem of the Rose King is dark shoujo adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry VI & Richard III, focusing on the latter man's lifestory. It's a bit wild ride, yo. Richard here is a transmasc and the canon does come with plenty of content warnings. So take a look at the permission post if you're unsure.

Abilities: Richard is pretty educated in politics and warfare, he's also a war veteran! But yeah... it's medieval times so. you know.
Plans: Oh dear. Richard sure had busy month in July with kill count of 5. So, he will be doing lot of apologizing. He's also starting to hear the siren call that is desire for power so.. he might start feeling things out a bit and get to know more people. He's also more motivated now to learn how adapt to this strange world and its culture. So he'll be interacting more with the setting.

How can you run into my character? My current plans for him involve:

- movie night
- general stuff. Richard hangs out at the woods a quite lot and at the bar Last Drop.

About: Behold, a disease that's essentially millennia of the built-up desire for ruination and despair shoved into some fucking guy who loves to hear himself talk and make that everyone else's problem! Ardyn is a lot of things, most of them bad, but also some of them are funny (to him) and isn't that what really matters.

Obviously, here for the negative CR and villainy but also open to whatever happens! He absolutely deserves to be in jail for his crimes, but he won't be happy about it either.

Crime: Murder!

Background: Have you ever wondered what a golden retriever personified is like? Look no further than Dimitri Blaiddyd! Despite a traumatizing early life, he still has so much capacity for near unconditional love in his heart for those he holds close. It eventually ends up breaking him but, hey, for now...! It's totally fine. He's fine. Don't worry about the lingering darkness behind his eyes, the fact he can kill without a moment's hesitation if necessary, and has super strength he can't always control.

Just call him a good boy and watch his metaphorical tail wag. Precious.

Abilities: Dimitri has the Crest of Blaiddyd, which basically means he has super strength. It's great! Except he can't always control it well and ends up breaking things easily as a result. He's also been trained for war since he knee high, more or less, and is brutally efficient murder machine. I mean, knight. Same difference, right? Anyway-

Beyond that, Dimitri is just a quick study and especially about topics he either a) genuinely enjoys or 2) wants to learn to impress someone else please like him please.

Plans:

♔ I kind of ate it at the end of July due to increasing stress about my move/not having my things, but hopefully in August I'll have Dimitri involved in Bon Odori! He will eat all the fancy food and especially if there is cheese involved.

♔ Otherwise, I'm totally open to Dimitri experiencing strange glitches such as sudden, extreme weather! He's built for the cold but will die in the heat. Also, any other weird shenanigans you might think to happen! Let's talk it out and get weird with it.

How can you run into my character? Dimitri is a creature of routine and habit. He'll likely try to keep a physical regimen up to stay in fighting shape, find the library and keep up his studies, and basically try to continue life as normally as possible. He's a boring old man in a teenager's body so someone teach him to have fun!

Canon Point: One where she thinks she's absolutely McDead and this is a cool, fun afterlife.

Crime: Dishonesty/Lying.

Background (cw for mentions of sex work): If you combine the songs Blank Space by Taylor Swift and Fergalicious by Fergie, you get Rosie as a person. She's a hypersexual nightmare dressed as a daydream who thought she died so honestly being here is kind of an awesome second chance in her mind. She has spent her life the last few years basically being the person - specifically rich older men who want to fuck her - most desired in the moment.

As a result, she doesn't really like to let people get to know the real her... because she also thinks the real her is pretty ugly, oops. While a bit emotionally driven, she is also emotionally dysregulated. She tends to be easily jealous, petty, and horribly insecure... But! She also loves music, cares deeply about those she considers friends, and truly just wants a quiet simple life with lots of dogs even if she doesn't realize that yet.

Abilities: Rosie's most notable abilities are heightened senses, enhanced strength/speed, and minor healing. That last one, she isn't supposed to be able to do so she keeps it under wraps. Also, you know, that she's a demon in disguise.

For more normal non-supernatural abilities, Rosie is very musically talented. She can play multiple instruments and sing gorgeously. She also plays the unassuming fool a lot but can be very sharp-witted if nothing else.

Plans:

❥ As mentioned, she was a courtesan for the upper echelon so she tends to gravitate towards seeking the attention of (toxic, awful) older men for validation. If anyone is interested in exploiting this like her ex-boyfriend/boss did...!!! Let me know because I'm absolutely down.

❥ She tends to be a wham, bam, thank you ma'am for the one night stand kind of person... but also prone to catching feelings to anyone nice to her for more than 5 consecutive minutes so also cute little crushes (unrequited or not) are fun for me to play with.

❥ I absolutely love love love CR that ends up being platonic or NOT revolving around sex to help Rosie develop in ways she learns that she has worth outside of sex and her looks. This is more long form and I'm down for bumps in the road (like her making advances and being turned down but throwing a fit, etc.) if others are but also fine with just cute friendships!!!

❥ Overall, I like playing with the "messiness" and hypersexual aspects of Rosie that lend themselves to drama but can definitely tone it down and have cute CR about her musical interests, love of adventure, etc.

❥ For specific plots, she's always up for a party so will be eagerly anticipating Bon Odori. Otherwise, I'm thinking of having her lose her voice as a glitch or be caught in a glitched building and need dramatic rescue...! Basically, opportunities to 1) be the damsel in distress she loves to pretend to be or 2) things go wrong during the rescue and she reveals she's not actually as helpless as she seems.

How can you run into my character? Honestly? Good look trying to avoid her. She's a nosy bitch who gets herself involved in tons of people's business. She likes to offer terrible, unsolicited advice for "fun" and honestly be a little bit of a chaos gremlin. Rosie is also just used to a certain level of attention and eyes on her so will be doing what she can to draw that to herself.

About: So I was here a week ago with Naoto, now I'm thinking of returning with another short blue hair. Fortunately for me, Sora is the opposite of Naoto and is more brawn than brains.

Not to say she's dumb. Cause she's not, but she is naive and sees the best in everyone. She'll smile and wish everyone she meets good morning. Sora's a happy sports girl, her dad runs a family dojo and sent her to Tokyo to live alone so 'she can see the world'.

...where she ends up being dragged into a monster labyrinth and gaining wind/electric powers.

I don't really have any plans in mind. Though seeing if someone can get actual negative CR with her might be funny.

Plans: I don't really have anything but I want to play with glitches more this month. Language barrier glitches sound fun since he doesn't speak english or japanese and will be stuck with basically-czech and russian

How can you run into my character? when not hiding himself away, he likes to spend time at the library, can often be found in the woods/outside of town in the mornings and does odd jobs so he could be found anywhere.

Background: Rafal is a world-ending dragon born from the Worst Dad Ever. As such, he's proud, blunt and honest to a terrifying fault. He doesn't pull punches. He loves sugar. He can resurrect the dead. He is learning about fun. He once wiped out every major nation on the planet. He can fly. Right now, he's learning how to live without punishing himself for his crimes and support the people of Aldrip.
