Character: Shinichi Izumi (+ 1 sentient alien hand)
Canon: Parasyte: The Maxim (and just a note that this is a horror canon that involves sci-fi, psychological, and body horror! I have more notes on content warnings in Shinichi's info, as well as a link to an opt-out for any specific themes, interactions with Migi, etc.)
Canon Point: Episode 5 (after his parents have just left for a week-long trip. I'm sure nothing bad will happen that can fuel Shinichi's character development if I decide to canon update him later on!!)

Crime: Murder.... which will also begin to dip into themes of Eating People, it's fine, he's fine,,

Background/Personality: Shinichi was an average good nerd living his best sweatervested life in Japan when one night he got infested by an alien parasite (as one does) and became an unwilling horror protag. His life has since been a lot of Turmoil and Terror, secrets kept from everyone around him, and unsettling changes in himself (he was recently told by another parasite that he no longer registers as a "pure" human, and he's lost himself in moments of upset and threatened to eat people, oop); he's probably due for a mental breakdown!! (Although weirdly enough, he's finding that Aldrip is proving to be a bit of a breath of fresh air for him, as he actually doesn't have to hide his secret so fiercely here the way he does back home.)

Personality-wise, Shinichi is very shy and nervous, he Has Anxiety that has been severely amplified by his circumstances, but his defining trait is definitely altruism to a ridiculous degree, meaning that he wouldn't hesitate to jump in and try to protect someone else, even if it comes at the cost of his own well-being (Migi judges this, humans are stupid, etc.)

Abilities: So "sentient alien hand" comes with a lot of whacky horror abilities, including transformations into things like blades and tentacles, inhuman strength and speed, sensing the wavelengths of things.... There's a lot more details (and visual refs) about what Migi can do here in Shinichi's info! Shinichi himself can't Do Much, but he and Migi are in the process of learning how to work together and use Migi's abilities as a team, so that's definitely on the table as well.

Plans:

• general meeting people / exploring the town more. Shinichi's still very new here and I'm down for any cr shenanigans, seeing how things go, etc.! He'll also be looking to move into a house when those are completed, too — until then, I'm down for any kind of building shenanigans; he's going to be helping out there.

• TWAT.... Shinichi is (very nervously) joining Teenagers With Abilities and Talents, and I would love for him to meet / further get to know fellow members! Working with others is completely new to him so he's still getting his feet wet with the idea and also gently trying to figure out how to introduce Migi to members who haven't met him yet...

• Migi things. Migi's been letting people know about him on a case-by-case basis and in different ways (some people just think Shinichi has the alien hand syndrome disorder.... others have seen Migi more directly, etc.) He might quietly observe someone for awhile, or outright try communicating with them; it can really go so many ways. He's an "intelligence type" of his species, so he's forever curious about Obtaining Knowledge — folks he can learn about humans from, folks with abilities he can observe and document, anyone with medical / anatomical skills whose camps he can try to get into.... but really he can find something to be Curious About in literally anyone, so if ur interested in getting to know an alien, I'm here for it!

Also if anyone might be cool giving some samples to him... things like hair and blood.... this is a thing he is going to start actively looking to do.

• all the juicy psychological turmoil. Themes I'm very much interested in exploring with him are: identity & autonomy loss, what it means to be a "monster", changing humanity, moral ambiguity and all the grey areas.... Shinichi is also perpetually carrying around a lot of guilt, and being told that he's accused of murder has been A Horror that he hasn't openly addressed to anyone yet. I'd love fun Chats about these accused crimes with other characters. I'd also really like for him to tell someone his own eventually, it'd probably take some cr development because he's going to stay cagey about it, but that's a goal!

• upcoming things. The TDM teasers look really fun and I'd love to do some shenanigans there after more info goes up. The Festival of the Sun could be a much-needed opportunity for some light-hearted threads, and then on the flip side I am absolutely eyeing the status effects wildflowers for Something Stressful 👀 In canon, Migi threatened to remove Shinichi's senses if he refused to obey him, and that knowledge there's an entity attached to his body who could permanently disable him at any moment is....!!! Kind of always shoved down into the back of Shinichi's mind. Naturally I'd love to do something kind of awful there, I'm thinking I might have him go blind for awhile.... it'd freak him out a lot

migi can have jinx's blood!! it'll be interesting to see what he thinks about her being fused with shimmer. and also more hand dates. jinx is definitely going to be at the festival and will do a lot of painting there! and eating.

and plus, she needs to apologize to shinichi. her first big girl thing.

Ooooo yes please, he would be extremely interested in her blood especially 👀 And yes!! They should do cute things at the festival. Jinx and Migi just having a really good time experiencing everything, painting, hanging out, and Shinichi is like WHAT ABOUT ME, GUYS

I want CR with Kotone and Shinichi! She hangs out with the other TWATs on the roof and absolutely would approach him to say hi and introduce herself. She's aggressively friendly. Also, as someone whose canon revolves around the concept of accepting ones own death and the death of others, she's not a bad person to talk about regarding his crime, either!

I would love that!! I was thinking that Shinichi might gently start getting curious about some of the other clubs, too. Back home, he was super isolated from others his age and didn't pursue anything like that because of ALIENS, so having the chance here could be really nice... and just making friends with Fellow Young People in general, I'm all for it ;~; She sounds super sweet, and that they could have some interesting talks for sure. I'm looking forward to this CR!

i'm not sure if scott would willingly give migi some of his blood or hair but also i'm interested in something like this in general LMAO

scott's crime isn't as big of a deal as shinichi's, since it is just destruction of property, but he's also sort of killed the infected in the last event and that's heavily on his mind

but also hanging out as normal teens is great too ok

God he honestly would take a sample of smth without asking if that's something you'd be cool with...... Or he could just like text Scott to ask about it at like 3AM sometime (that's when he's usually Awake and Bored) and just let it lead into a Weird Conversation LMAO

Shinichi would absolutely feel some things with that, because his angst mostly comes from... the people he & Migi have killed were infected & fully taken over by aliens, so was it still technically killing a "person"....? And then there's just the anguish of killing something at all. So I think Scott's upsets about the infected would touch super hard in Shinichi. I'd love an opportunity for some kind of talk like that to come up between them somehow 👀 And on the opposite side of things, I'd also love them getting to hang out as normal teens sometime too, I want all of this...

oh no, that sounds like it'd be a fun conversation... i'm sort of ping ponging if i want scott to talk about it in general on the network or just bottle it in and be upset with everything lmao

It could be an interesting potential Learning Experience if Scott gets irked about it and has to explain to Migi why, if you do want to go that route! I'll probably have him start up his Sample Collecting a bit into the month.... so I can touch base with you and see if you want to do a thing there!

I'm here for it however it does pan out; if Scott makes a post about it, Shinichi will absolutely hop in, or if there's a more private opportunity I'll be game too B) I'm just looking forward to more with this weirdo teen cr in general, Shinichi thinks Scott is so cool and wants to make a good impression with him LMAO..... too bad Migi is such a creep......

That being said. I'd defs like to get cr between these two! Akechi can understand the whole "isolated high school nerd" thing but would also be super interested in Migi! He has his own brain demons but they're not visible, so yeah. Aliens are cool!

I could potentially offer some lighter stuff but also perhaps the juicy psychological turmoil!!

Isolated High School Nerds unite in their finest sweatervests! I'm definitely here for some cr with Akechi!! I'm canonblind but just from what I've learned from osmosis I can absolutely see Migi being just as interested in him 👀 And I would be so down for anything here; exploring some juicy psychological turmoil sounds like a Great Time between these guys.... I'm excited to see how this cr might go!!
