INTRO / CR MEME

Welcome to Expiation, where the points aren't real and absolutely don't matter. But you do, and we're happy to have you! Please note that this intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

As a reminder, Expiation runs on bi-monthly events. Please note that all players / characters accepted in March are exempt from the March AC. For everyone else, March AC is due by 31 March, 2023. Halfway through the day AC closes, we will give one (1) warning on both plurk and the OOC community for anyone who hasn't submitted (this will also be linked in the player-run discord).

Where are the reservation / app dates for our next cycle? Our poll is still being used and looked at. At present, most participants don't have a preference on how we adjust dates to better suit enablemeplz, which is posted the second Saturday of each month.

With that said, we currently have more votes for 1 week forward, rather than 2 weeks, which would place reserves to open on 03 April, and applications to open on 10 April. We will, of course, adjust this accordingly as we get closer to the end of the month.

One more reminder:
After this upcoming app cycle, our TDMs, Reserves, and Applications will open on a bimonthly schedule, opposite of event months.

This means the next TDM, Reserve, and App process will begin at the tail end of May 2023.

EVENT NOTES: The Short of It: The units used to preserve food in Aldrip have malfunctioned and Aldrip's townspeople face starvation. Characters are encouraged to lend a hand in the crisis, though of course, can choose not to. (Don't be that person. Or do...! We're not your parents.) Prompts Include: 🧊 Fixing the refrigeration units. Potential electric shocks during repair. 🍳 Cook a thing. Burn a thing. Hunt some animals. Fish some... fish? Dry / smoke some food? Have a large, improvised grillfest? Please feed the people. They are probably hungry. 🤝 Travel through Pessiria Forest with Aldrip locals to meet the Rumpiturians and barter for goods. (TW: They're a people with snake-like features. There will be reference links.) 💰 Alternatively, steal supplies from the Rumpiturians instead of bartering. Or steal some of their other things. (TW: They are still people with snake-like features.) 👻 Pessiria Forest creepy things. No one will be outright hurt by this. Select characters sensitive to ghostly, phantom apparitions, and related will have nightmares regarding the forest for an undetermined amount of time. ❓ The party returning from Pessiria will be minus some people (read: locals, not Chosen; this will tie into a future event). Vholran Igniseri

Character: Vholran Igniseri
Canon: Tales of Arise
Canon Point: Post Canon

Crime: Tyranny

Background:An oppressive, domineering asshole who thinks he gets to rule the world. Hates everyone. Thinks humans don't deserve rights. He throws his weight around so you think he is a cruel warlord and that his megalomania isn't a trauma response but it's definitely a trauma response.

(MASSIVE TOA SPOILERS: Vholran was born a slave and was isolated and abused most of his life. He has very strong opinions about never letting anyone control him ever again and is ready to make this everyone else's problem.)

Abilities: Extremely acrobatic swordsman who was biohacked into a powerful elementalist that explodes when upset. Basically. He uses mostly water and ice magic.

Plans: Vholran is a character who has done awful things, like brutally rule over a slave nation, in canon but canon also tries to make it clear that he isn't purely evil. At this point in his life, he can't be fully redeemed but maybe he can find somewhat more productive ways to vent his anger. Tales of Arise does not do a deep exploration of his character but his premise is very interesting. I want to explore the character in ways the game maybe was going to do but did not in the version of it we ended up getting.

Vholran will probably not make friends easily but he can attempt to form alliances.

He is a very unpleasant man so please don't have your character provoke him if you don't want to deal with ic consequences. This isn't to say I intend to make him impossible to interact with. Usually, he is content to leave people alone as long as they aren't a threat to him. Since he has a very high opinion of himself people need to prove they are threats. I'm here to play a villain but not one that will be on an unending rampage and making the game annoying to play in.

During the event: Vholran could be convinced to use his magic to help with refrigeration problems or go hunting but he's not going to come to that decision on his own.

Canon Point: Post-game/pre-epilogue, with CRAU from Isle of Avalon.

Crime: Patricide.

Background: Balthier is a sky pirate with a flair for fashion and theatrics, who rather likes to make a habit of pointing out just how dashing he is while simultaneously claiming that he can't be bothered by getting involved in other people's business. Of course, while declaring loudly that he doesn't care, he's usually getting himself knee-deep in someone else's troubles for one reason or another. He'll deny it, but he's rather soft despite all his protesting. Though he wasn't always a pirate by trade, he has used sailing the skies of Ivalice to try and put distance between who he is now and who he once was, and in the process, got rather caught up in helping with a revolution that helped to free the kingdom of Dalmasca from occupation by his own homeland. Being a CRAU, he will have some memories from his year+ in Isle of Avalon, though at the moment they are completely obscured and will steadily return with time.

Abilities: Balthier is an expert pilot and engineer, in addition to being quite clever overall. He was something of an academic prodigy before he turned to piracy, though he doesn't care to talk about those days much. He has a short list of spells available to him that largely serve as support; his true combat prowess lies in his excellent marksmanship, and he's no slouch in close-quarters, either.

Plans:

• He's spent more than enough time settling, so he's going to be looking to do more exploration and push further past the outskirts of Aldrip to see what's out there.
  
• He'll be big on the travel portions of the event as a result!
  
• STEALING SUPPLIES, STEALING SUPPLIES. It's for a good cause, so it hardly counts as a crime, right? It does, but that's fine.

Crime: Involuntary manslaughter.....

Background: He's a grumpy teen with Issues. Or: local teen desperately tries to protect his friends, accidentally kills someone in the process, immediately is consumed by guilt and quits being a world-saver forever until he goes back on that, too. He has self worth low in proportion to how much he loves his friends, which is hyuge amounts, but he'll never admit it out loud because that's mortifying. He likes to cook. He kept a photo album of the team dog and no one else. He has resting jerk face and a mean right hook but under 1mm of Gruff Mean Guy he's the softest person on earth. He once pretended to be asleep to get out of a conversation.

So yeah! Shinji...

Abilities: Shinji has a Persona, Castor, which hits really hard and not much else. He has to shoot himself with a magic gun to summon this thing, in a very normal way to use abilities. He's also a really good cook and he hates being praised about it until he can fuss about it somewhere alone, like the bottom of the ocean or the moon!! Tell him he's a good cook.

Plans: ya boy desperately needs friends... he does well with the aggressively friendly type so that he can grumble about being pulled into Situations without having to admit that he enjoys the company. He's also an overprotective big brother type and, like, a mom? Like, he will make sure you eat your veggies? If you need this kind of energy in your life please lmk. He will also be your anime rival (tm) if you really want.

Re: the Event Snippets, obviously, he will be doing a lot of cooking. He can teach cooking perhaps?? Also ready and willing to march through a creepy forest to gruffly keep watch, etc. And... steal... he'll steal if needs must.

Anything Else?: I'm unfortunately Very Into Persona these days-! I've played Persona 3 and Persona 5 a... lot.... and am currently streaming Persona 4 on twitch! I'm also losing my mind with excitement over the Sims 4 update that's supposed to happen TOMORROW.... Other fandoms are Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Danganronpa!

I'm also an ESL teacher for adults so I tend to sleep early and be unreachable in the mornings, but around in the afternoons/evenings EST!

Character: Kotone Shiomi
Canon: Persona 3 Portable
Canon Point: March 5th, if you know you know 💦

Crime: Duplicity! I wanted to play with the idea of Persona protagonists saying what people around them want to hear and acting as a mirror for whomever they're speaking with. Kotone is more straightforward and talkative than her male counterpart, but she can be very guilty of hiding her true feelings to prop others up instead (so they don't worry/think she's weak/etc)

Background: Kotone is an energetic, outgoing, and playful teenager who's just as quick to be your new big sister as she is to be a professional mischief-maker. Your mileage may vary, but she tends to be Too Willing to stick her nose into someone else's business. How else do you form social links??

Abilities:
Kotone has her Evoker and the ability to summon a Persona! There's a list of those she has available in her app, but the short of it is that she can summon some godlike figures that are reflections of her inner soul.

IMPORTANT NOTE, cw suicide: Persona 3's major themes deal with death -- if that's something you'd prefer to opt out of, please let me know via PM! The use of an Evoker intentionally looks like someone committing suicide by bringing a gun to their head.

Plans:
I don't have any concrete plans as of yet! I'd love for Kotone to have to start being more honest about her own feelings instead of trying to take on everyone else's problems as protagonists are wont to do. She'll definitely be willing to barter for goods instead of fight without reason for them, and while she's more of a baker than a cook, she'll also help out with the cooking!

Character: Mizuki Date

Canon Point: mid-confrontation at the stadium (but before its conclusion)

Crime: mass homicide

Background: Mizuki was an orphaned child who was genetically experimented on and was later adopted by a father who didn't have time for her and a mother who couldn't handle her, and as a result, hated her. In short, she had a rough life growing up, culminating in a lot of anger and also superpowers from said experiments. Nowadays she is a police officer back in her world, in a special department called ABIS full of weirdos people who can see your dreams. You can read more about her in my app, which is ripe with spoilers if you care.

Abilities: She has superstrength and can run really fast and jump really high. Also, she can whack you with her cool metal pipe.

Plans: So I feel like I'm getting through the worst of her little breakdown now! It'll be easier on her CR from here on out. The only thing super specific is that either she or Saito will kill the other at some point, but I'd like to take it easy on her for a while. She has her bike back, and my next thing I'd like her to regain is her adorabbit plush. Perhaps once I have a better idea of her new living conditions...?

Character: Ritsu Shikishima

Crime: Running away.

Background: So I think the thing that's most relevant to CR at the moment is the fact that while Ritsu is more than happy to listen to others talk about themselves, he hates talking about himself and will try his hardest to derail any conversation that starts focusing on him. I apologize to anyone who has had to deal with this tendency of his. (Though, this may be for the best: he's pretty self-loathing, so his view of himself tends to be overly unkind. As an example, he mockingly diagnoses himself with fanatical narcissism at one point. While he does have some of the symptoms, it's still in no way an accurate diagnosis, so you really have to take even Ritsu's internal monologuing with a huge grain of salt.)

Also, he's super duper observant, so here's his permissions post if there's anything in particular you'd like him to pick up on about your character.

Abilities: His abilities are all tied to his emotions and identity, so... yeah. It's easier to just skim through his app. He's trying to avoid using them, as a result.

Plans: So before Ritsu ended up here, he kinda went, "I'm sick of interacting with people. I'm so sick of it I'm gonna destroy the world." However! He has been very social here, so that's been kind of weird for him, mentally. Ideally, this time he'll learn to not let social interactions completely wear him down. Also, he knows a lot of people's birthdays now, and I have those jotted down — but my memory can be pretty bad, so please feel free to poke me if your character's birthday is coming up so that Ritsu can get them something.

RE: the upcoming event, Ritsu's pretty good with people (at the expense of his own mental health), so he'll probably go bartering.

I'm planning to hit him up for the event if you top-level. She wants to go barter as well, and I think she'd love to pick his mind some (attempt to), and maybe talk about flowers with him (because of course she wants to), and so on...!

Anything Else?: Hello! I am your resident health care worker, and recently been promoted to a lead. I'm. Honestly crazy busy at work lately, but here I am, playing two characters... ahaha. Anyway, my interests range from horror, to jrpgs! I love, love horror games like Fatal Frame, and Silent Hill. As for jrpgs, I do enjoy the suikoden series, xenosaga series, shadow hearts series, final fantasy... I'm currently a savage raider in FF14 (just cleared p7s yaayy), so my wednesdays and thursdays are dedicated to that. I'm also an avid cook!

Rin Nesidri | Original Character

Character: Rin Nesidri
Canon: Original Character
Canon Point: Ori war

Crime: High Treason against Demetria Xydis.

Background: Rin is a weird character. She works for the black market, but she's a very cheerful person, despite the work she did before the war. She used to sell drugs, and weapons to noblemen and women who asked for it, but now that she's in the middle of a war. So, her current job is actually being a spy, and doing field work for her organization. Overall, she's a very happy person, but she is a bit lonely right now without her friends and her husband along for the ride. She also hates using her brain.

Abilities:
Katana proficiency/swordplay: Rin has been a skilled swordsman for nearly all of her life. She moves fast with her sword, and is able to perform acrobatic skills with her sword. At present, her sword looks like THIS.
Fire magic: Able to create fire geysers, and shoot fire lasers. Although, her control with fire is not good, she still manages to possess an affinity for it when she's calm and collected. She usually does not use this magic, as it causes her to be exhausted, but she is able to ignite her hand into flames to act as a source of light. This is currently nerfed at Expiation, and she can only make flames as a source of light.
Electricity magic: Rin's specialty. With her electricity magic, she can create lightning cages to seal her enemies. She can also invoke electricity into her katana; creating lightning slashes that vaporize enemies in an instant.
Earth magic: Rin uses earth magic to make herself a human shield. She is able to absorb damage within the shield, but only for a limited time. Once the shield breaks, she becomes extra vulnerable to attacks, but can dish out attacks twice as hard. Not available at Expiation.

Plans: Rin just recently opened up her own tailor shop! Those who want clothes are more than welcome to drop by. She will take your measurements and design whatever clothes you want. She's very open to making casual clothes, formal clothing, and her favorite for the female body: tight fitting clothes. It's the only clothes she wears.

As for the event, she's going to choose to help the people of Aldrip. They've been nothing but nice to her, so it's the least that she can do. Feel free to team up with her to help them! She'll either try and go with the locals to barter, or stay behind and cook. She's good with both, as she's weirdly charming and she honestly cooks for the refugees back at home.

She also wants more friends to do stupid shit with, so. You know. She's very easy to make friends with.

Canon Point: Chapter 5, right after she dies and it's in GAMEPLAY but you CAN'T GET ACROSS THE MAP IN TIME so all you can do is wATCH

Crime: "The crimes of the Grannvale Empire"

Background: Ethlyn is the younger sister of Fremblem 4's protagonist Sigurd, who is a reckless hothead, and wife of his best friend Quan, who thinks that strength of arms is the most important thing to ensure victory, and she's the sensible one who keeps them patched up when they go off and do stupid things.

...At least that's what she thinks she is. In truth, she is just as prone to making reckless bad decisions and holding to them stubbornly, which plays a huge role in how and why she meets her end. After falling into one unwanted battle after another, Sigurd's army is betrayed, exiled, and finally backed into a corner. Ethlyn and Quan's attempt to reinforce them ends in disaster when their own enemies ambush them.

She's also a noblewoman and had to take the role of duchess very young (it's not said how young but I feel it's probably her early teens, and she's 20 now) so she wound up with an overdeveloped sense of responsibility and a tendency to decide that you are her responsibility. So she's both a self-decided Mom Friend and a person with the instincts of a little sister, which can be fine a lot of the time for other people, but probably not all the time.

Abilities:
- Healing: Ethlyn is a battlefield healer and she has her staff. She's organizing other willing healers to be a little horseback emergency healing troupe.
- Sword's: Ethlyn is 50% divinely blessed to be good at them. She doesn't have her personal weapon here, just a regular sword, but she's very skilled with it and can fight competently with almost any sword she gets her hands on if necessary.
- Horseback riding: It's not magical she's just good at it because she's been doing it since she was like, 5 probably.


Plans: Ethlyn doesn't understand how she can be held responsible for her birthplace becoming an oppressive empire, and she's been telling everyone that she opposed it with all her might when the subject comes up. While she did take up arms against them, the truth is that her brother and all his friends failed to see how their actions were being used by their rivals in Grannvale to further their own ambitions, and how they were being manipulated into helping destabilize Grannvale's neighbors so it could swoop in and annex them. Overall I want to have her come to realize this fact, and that her lack of foresight and looking back did a great deal to help her enemies succeed.

In personality, Ethlyn is affable and kind, likes to gently tease people, and has a great deal of empathy for others, so she's a good person to make friends with. She's also organizing any willing healers into what she thinks of as the Arztenritter (doctor-knights) as kind of an emergency response force in case anyone gets injured (so if there are big game events that involve danger and casualties, for instance, they'd be there).

Background: Fran is a viera that has left the Wood to join the rest of the world of Ivalice. After a few years, she met up with a certain dashing hume and became a sky pirate. Things were great until they decided to take the Dusk Shard and got caught up with Vaan and Ashe and their crap.

Abilities: She has both the Archer and Red Mage jobs, so she has some healing and some damage magicks.

Plans: I really want Fran to make a new found family that she grumbles to herself about but would murder a whole town for.

Character: Aerith Gainsborough

Canon Point: Chapter 16 - Belly of the Beast / Whilst in Hojo's Laboratory

Crime: Abandonment

Background:
Local flower girl is the last of her kind, very friendly, and a chaos gremlin with good intentions! More seriously, Aerith is a street-savvy young woman who appears much more delicate than she actually is. She isn't the most well-versed in combat, but she has an incredible emotional strength about her that allows her to be empathetic, an excellent listening ear, and just an all around good friend.

As a note, I took her as a CRAU from isleofavalon, where I played her for a year, but nothing about her really changed and this won't impact likely anyone as much as it'll impact Balthier, with whom she had a very close and complicated relationship with that they'll eventually be forced to deal with. She'll very slowly regain memories from her adventure, but it probably won't serve as much more than conversation pieces.

- Aerith will want to help out wherever she can fit in during the food shortage. But probably not with repairs herself. (She can help hand someone tools whilst they repair, though.) Chances are she'll be of more use in the kitchens.
- She wants to go on adventure! I want her to go to Pessiria Forest and Rumpitur to meet the naga people. If you're planning on stealing and want her nagging in your ear about why that's a bad idea, this is your girl right here.
- I would also love for her to be one of those plagued with nightmares following the little adventure back.

General:
- She is seriously doing her best to make friends and help people out and we all saw how that turned out when she offered up her room with Cloud.
- Her evil, evil nemesis is here and now so too is her dead boyfriend who she never actually said was her boyfriend, but later claimed that she loved him, so everything is probably fine. (It is not fine.)
- She is going to help Rinoa make a flowerbed! (She would kind of like a flowerbed herself...)
- She's actually very interested in figuring out if she has a similar connection to this world's life force / energy that she has back home, so it could be a little amusing to have people stumble on her whilst she's testing all of that out.
- That said if you would like some flower education or just someone to meddle in your affairs whilst she tries to do good things and make good things happen, please let me point her in your direction.
- If you want a seeming damsel in distress for less-than-good intentions, I am also happy to offer her up, though she's probably not as much a damsel as it seems.

Sarcasm as an art form, teasing as a love language, and always paying a lot more attention than he lets on.

Abilities: He's a gravity-defying expert wuxia swordsman with a specialization in speed, precision, and makeup. Also a decade or so of experience with the spying and assassining thing.

- Cannot cook for shit and should not be allowed anywhere near food prep. He'll do some hunting and/or fishing, though.

Background: Noel comes from a post-apocalyptic future timeline where humanity has almost died out, leaving him the last living human at eighteen years old. And things just go downhill from there. He's been through a lot at this point, and due to Wild Timeline Fuckery he accidentally killed a god, resulting in 500 years of hellish limbo, which kind of made him bitter and guilt-stricken. He's had a little bit of sense knocked into him, so he's going to be...trying hard not to brood and overall be A Major Downer. Underneath all that angst, he's a fairly cocky do-gooder who just wants to help and is very good at telling people off, while also being kind of an idiot.

Abilities: Standard Final Fantasy spells, meaning he can sorta set you on fire and then heal you! FF13-2 is also the Pokemon Final Fantasy, so he'll have the ability to temporarily train and use monsters in battle. This is going to end so well.

Plans: he's brand new, so mostly I'm interested in developing CR for him! He's a little prickly right now, but he's also pretty curious. He comes from a timeline where there's just not...a lot of stuff, so he'll want to a, know what everything is, and b, try all the food. He's got a bit of a mouth on him too, which can make interactions fun and complex.

Crime: murder of a superior officer, which he likely thinks indicates him wasting sephiroth but also may indicate the feelings he has towards what happened to zack, if he ever remembers right.

Background: local loser from wooded backlands pretends to be a cool soldier to get the girl he likes to notice him, gets a lot of people killed, and feels so bad about it that he invents an entirely new history for himself...yes, it's that guy: cloud strife, an 'ex-soldier first class' trying to be a mercenary who ends up getting roped into saving the planet. deep down he's just shy and awkward, a good-hearted kind of guy... but you have to get through like eight layers of pointed antisocial 'not interested' armor to get there.

he's a guy that's very heavily influenced by his past, though his version of it is very blurry and very untrue, especially at this canon point where he doesn't know much of anything. as evidenced in the game, he has headaches at times when someone brings up something from the past that he's avoided, or when he has flashes of memory/visions of stuff. he tends to keep people at a distance--or at least tries to, anyway, but despite the seemingly prickly exterior, he's a pretty kind friend and might not even charge you for his services if he likes you. (not that he'll admit it!)

Abilities: he can swing a big sword.

...and he's got some superhuman-esque abilities thanks to the mako, but nothing that stands out too much. he's apparently very good at dancing, somehow... in any case, his app has more info if needed!

Plans: cloud's been doing as many odd jobs as he can, trying to both build up a name to become the merc of his dreams, while also keeping up enough coin to fund the room where he's staying with aerith currently. i'm happy to handwave that your character may have seen him doing this-or-that job or even if you want to hire him to do something...! very flexible towards anything, if you'd like a fun way to jumpstart CR.

in regards to the event, he'll probably be lending his help, if possible, towards fixing the refrigeration units, as well as traveling through pessiria forest...he's great at bartering, or, well, being intimidating. i'm also down for him to have weird nightmares (more than the ones he already has!). he can also be hired bodyguard help for anyone wanting to go through the forest, or even a quiet friend to comfort those plagued by the nightmares. i'll probably just pop up some open prompts for a top level for the event, but if you'd like something in particular, i'm happy to sort of vaguely plan on a starter and cement it once the event details come in!

Crime: Failing and abandoning his people. Technically he is leader of the miserable outcasts and terrible criminals of Mount Qingya, but he does not accept this. Fuck 'em. BE GAY DO CRIMES.

Background: When Wen Kexing was a kid, his family got mixed up in a political conflict by volunteering to hide the series' McGuffin, which got his parents killed and got him thrown into the abandoned land called the Valley of Ghosts, named because only those who were dead to society lived there. He was raised among violence and self-serving schemes until he got his revenge by killing the chief of ghosts and taking over. Then he spent almost all of the next decade hating the noble groups that put him there, so he decided why NOT go for bonus revenge? Except the civilized world is really full of hot guys and he met someone and adopted a second kid, so. Best laid plans.

He's kind of a meatball anyway so his plan wasn't great to start with.

Abilities: Fantasy kung fu skills that let him make common items into weapons and channel energy like some magic current, very rudimentary medicine/herbal studies, magical flute skills, and cooking. He's known for being a wild, fearsome fighter in canon that can rip people apart barehanded yet he loves his poetry and fairy tales.

Plans: Learning how to make friends, but also let's get into fights and cause havoc. He's typically a nice enough person that only bites back if threatened first, but he does love a drunken brawl and sneaky plan to incite others to reveal their bad sides. But for now I am here to see how he does not being the king of venom and vengeance. Probably going to have him explore and do some hunting and cooking, since he can actually do those and won't mind helping a tiny bit.

Canon Point: modern times, after he's basically "disappeared"

Crime: Destroying the world. So it turns out when you use all your exes' resources to cut humanity off from spiritual powers they get so pissed no one talks about it? And that's the one thing no one else blames you for! Cue being accused of anything else.

Background: He has the popular culture trappings of fan wielding, mysterious mage, but this version of Seimei is mostly some average guy wearing all of the legends and rumors built up over time. He used to be a renowned onmyouji and is pretty skilled at magic, but he's also the guy who mostly got to the top by asking a lot of favors and making friends in high places. The biggest spell he cast did really alter history by temporarily separating the human world and spiritual worlds, but that was 90% borrowed power and a very one time act--and why he has a lot of rough relationships. His whole career centered on peacekeeping and keeping the balance between all sides, so to keep humans from using appeals to gods to destroy each other, he just split everyone up. He still tries to keep the balance in modern times, but from a more tired perspective very done with politics and duties and now without most of his old ties. He worked hard, disappointed everyone, and all he has to show for it is legends of being a tyrant or demon king while he's buying canned oden from vending machines.

Abilities: His actual magic are mostly small, single use spells like charms and paper talismans that do things like cast an illusion or lock/unlock a door or cause temporary invisibility. Binding and sealing and all that take time, more setup, and raw power that he actually doesn't have a lot of without support.
- He does have natural charisma? But magical vibes so that can be off-putting or uncanny.
- He has youkai blood, so he has spiritual sight and lives a long time.
- He can channel energy if there is energy to channel. His personal reservoir is pretty mediocre currently.
- He has studied divination, but mileage may vary since time is very flexible.
- He can share a spiritual bond with other creatures in the form of a contract where both sides support each other's energy, but this is a rather outdated form of magic that not many humans still use. And he did piss off a lot of the magic community.

Plans: I'd love to force him into getting involved with people again. He has all of the baggage because of how poorly things ended for him in pretty much every other relationship, so I'd like to get him in even more trouble in expiation. He treats taking things seriously as an allergy so I want to inflict more of that on him. I'm probably going to get him into dealing with Rumpiturians and Pessiria chaos if anyone wants to do things for that!

May have a slight obsession with tormenting the protagonist, though since she's from the end of the manga she's less I'M GOING TO KILL EVERYTHING and more apathetic. She still has very poor social skills when it comes to people though.

Abilities: She is overly OP and has been toned down some for this game because of that.

Her powers can be summarized as: destruction.

Also flight. Some telekinesis. Illusions. She relies on magic more than physical attacks.

Plans: I have no big plans other than getting her settled. I will gladly continue the TDM threads/CR with anyone who wants to. She's mostly feeling lost and out of place, which is kind of normal for her since she's never really had a home. So she's mostly going to be wandering and being annoyed at the existence of others.

Anything Else?: Your local lawyer, who’s often tired. I’m a fan of TTRPGs, games and anime across a whole variety of genres, but Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, most things by Spike Chunsoft, and the Tales series have special places in my heart. I also do some vtubing on the side.

Character: Młynar Nearl
Canon: Arknights
Canon Point: Current to the NA server. Canon will update with future patches.

Crime: Treason. What he betrayed is questionable, however. On one hand, he stood by and did nothing as giant corporations took over Kazimierz. On the other, he also opposes the current regime by supporting his nieces’ efforts to restore the knighthood’s honour.

Background: Młynar is a former knight-errant who became a hero in his country of Kazimierz. However, once Kazimierz became peaceful, it fell into the control of a capitalist Council. Only the rich can survive in today’s Kazimierz, and its leaders are planning a genocide. Młynar considers himself responsible for letting Kazimierz become like this, because he felt powerless and refused to oppose the rise of the Council. Now, he’s just trying stop his nieces from getting killed as they revolt and try to restore Kazimierz’s knighthood and honour.

At first glance, Młynar is cold and relatively withdrawn. He doesn’t get along well with other people, and either speaks with a sharp tongue or excessive professionalism. However, the truth is that he’s just a poor communicator. Beneath those outer layers, the grumpy horse man has a heart of gold. He also probably needs a hug; he’s been through a lot.

Abilities: Members of the Kuranta race like Młynar are blessed with superhuman strength and speed. He uses Luminal Arts- a technique that allows Młynar to control electromagnetic radiation with his sword. He emits blinding flashes from his blade and launches arcs of scorching light with each swing.

Plans: Młynar is taking this new life as an opportunity to rediscover what it means to be a knight. His previous efforts led to Kazimierz becoming a capitalist hellscape. He will likely do what he can to help the Rumpiturians and try and find some kind of redemption in it all.

He’ll also probably be on a path to forgive himself. He’s not responsible for what Kazimierz became. The ruling council did it. He probably needs someone to give him a pat on the back and a hug. Or at the very least, he needs someone to tell him that he’s a good person.

Finally, he’ll probably put the skills he learned raising his two nieces to good use. He can cook relatively well, and he’s shockingly good with domestic tasks. You might be lucky enough to benefit from Uncle Młynar’s aid, if he starts to like you.

???: I would not recommend trying to touch the fluffy tail. While it is a majestic thing, you may lose a hand for your troubles.
Also, raising a stubborn girl is hard work for someone who can’t communicate.

marc is a giant fucking ball of guilt and self-loathing, like, all the time. he is also an asshole who tends to come across as a little bit off on account of the fist of vengeance thing. he's presently trying to be a better person but he's a person who, in his own words, has an addiction to violence. suffice to say, he is deeply dramatic and very committed to his bit.

he's very good at being INTENSE about everything.

Abilities: marc doesn't actually have any fun and exciting abilities himself. he is weirdly impervious to psionic abilities thanks to his khonshu (aka his mind's a mess). outside of that, he's good with his fists (oi oi), speaks a couple of languages (...nothing useful here), and ... that's about it??

Plans:
general — marc is, shockingly, not inherently social. he will be helpful in his own, very specific way and he will almost certainly continue to introduce himself as 'mr. knight' to 90% of people. he's big on protecting people! has a whole thing about doing it at night and has a very weird sleeping pattern (does he tend to sleep during the day? yeah. yeah, he does.) given a general and comparative lack of (violent) crime in aldrip, he's absolutely been busying himself with beastie killing.

Crime: 'Being Born'. It's Complicated.

Background: Chuuya's background is a long and complicated mess, and covered in two whole novels because Kafka Asagiri does not do things by halves. But basically: he's a former human experiment subject, he grew up on the streets in a gang of kids, and eventually joined Yokohama's Port Mafia where he found a home and family. He's now a mafia executive at the age of 22 and he's very good at his job, if still a bit of a wild child at heart. His hobbies include good fights, good music and good drinks, and he's very loyal to those he considers friends and family, for good or ill.

He's also very loud, if provoked. Very... very loud. Did I mention he's 5'3? Yeah, he kind of has small yappy dog energy.... if a small yappy dog could manipulate gravity and punch like a truck.

Abilities: Chuuya's supernatural ability is gravity manipulation! Which means he can free manipulate the gravity of anything he touches, including his own body. He uses this to devastating effect in battle to put some serious power behind his hits, but it's also a cool party trick when he walks on the ceiling.

Plans: Right now, Chuuya's priorities are settling in and trying to navigate the fact that all his castmates have very recently screwed him over in canon, so he's kind of (a lot) pissed at each of them, but temporary alliances are necessary. He could really do with making some friends.

Background: Izuku is a friendly, awkward, genuinely heroic sweetheart of a teenager who is not always the best at social interaction but he tries his best, and is an incurable meddler who won't turn down an opportunity to try to help others. He also happens to be a superhero-in-training, and has been through Some Shit. As a head's up, that includes not only trauma resulting from hero activities but also over a decade of severe bullying that included a lot of physical violence, a lot of emotional abuse and social ostracization, and an instance of what can only be described as attempted inciting suicide. All of this has very noticeably affected his behavior, his mental health, and who he is as a person. I'll be doing my best to reach out and post CWs whenever exploring specific instances of trauma or bullying is likely to come up, and both understand and encourage telling me to avoid going into it with you/your characters if you feel more comfortable that way - you can reach out via PM to opt out.

Abilities: Izuku has a superpower ("Quirk") called One For All, which 1) can be transferred from person to person and 2) collects whatever other superpower the last user had and brings it along when it gets passed to someone else and has basically become a superpower swiss army knife. His app lists all of them, though the most important one is the 'base' ability of stockpiling power - it's essentially a form of super-strength/physical enhancement that Izuku can channel to all or some of his body and 'dial in' the power output and resulting enhancement on a scale of 1% to 100%. Some of his superpowers can also seriously physically wreck him if he isn't careful.

Plans: Izuku's coming in from a point in canon where he spent about a month in a very bad place mentally and he hasn't actually had any recovery time yet, so that's likely going to be a bit of a theme for him for a while (as well as him trying to hide this so no one will worry about him because He's Fine). For now I mostly want to focus on getting Izuku settled and bonding with people, and finding things he can do to help ground him a bit - he's absolutely going to want to help out however he can during the event, so anyone looking for a cooking assistant or bartering buddy has him on tap.

Background: Peter Quill once defeated a space dragon with his friends on vibes alone. He saved the Galaxy. Twice. He also likes shiny rocks and doing the right thing (usually) and adventure! Boy does he love adventure. He's an, 80s dad who's kind of a kid at heart and also he misses being in space :(

Abilities: Lying and shooting things are his coolest skills. He had jet boots and a Walkman and a can-do attitude!

Plans:

My plan is to have a backdated log for these since the network post was based on the tdm prompts, but I'd also be down to handwave if anyone would rather skip ahead. 🌟 As far as event plans go, Peter will try to be a goody two shoes and help as much as he can. He can cook a little and help fix tech, so he will try to be useful! Background: Once upon a time there was a young boy who had been dealt very bad had in life. Unwanted by the society and unloved by the adults the boy grew up bitter and hateful. Then one day God saw him and went like "you know what, kid? that's valid. here have ridiculous super powers and go apeshit crazy." And so the boy grabbed that metaphorical baseball bat and decided to rip the world a new one. :)

Goro Akechi is layered like an onion individual. He keeps his true nature and desires close to himself and has built so many walls around his heart that it's basically a fortress at this point. He's not the most pleasant person to be around in general. He's cold and keeps his distance to others. As a logical thinker he enjoys puzzles and mysteries.. Unfortunately (??) his go-to solution problems is murder. When he's not being violent or abrasive he's that kid who just tries to be smartest one in the room. So yeah, rip. He's a keeper.

Abilities: Ehhhh, he has some bs supernatural powers which don't really apply here because it's not metaverse. Does being a dick counts as an ability?

Plans: I have the generic "idk, give me everything" answer here. Like I said, Akechi isn't the nicest person to be around with so I'm all up for others to keep pushing his buttons. Make his life hard, he deserves it. Murder bffs? Actual geniuses putting the kid into his place?? All is good! While I'm all about having someone to break through his walls and expose him for his own insecurities and inferiority issues I love negative cr!

As for event: He is going to help around. He really can't cook so rip. But I can see him trying to talk with the snake people! Maybe even steal from them?

I think I made this journal right during the LJ to DW move (so long ago...) but I've somehow never gotten around to playing Celes in a game til now. Besides final fantasy, I play a lot of lifesim/farmsim/building video games, which means I'm going to disappear down a black pit when the new Fantasy Life gets released. I've also been... very slowly... playing Fire Emblem Engage.

Character: Celes Chere
Canon: Final Fantasy VI
Canon Point: End of the game (pretty much right as Kefka dies)

Crime: war crimes, babeyyy

Background: Child soldier/general who participated in the Empire's expansionist campaign and burned at least one city to the ground; defected for disagreeing with minor details like "mass-poisoning of enemy civilians"; technically accidentally antagonized the main villain into ending the world (it got better?). Stood in as an opera singer's body-double that one time.

At her canon point, she's less cold and standoffish than she was at the start, and beginning to be more openly emotional and willing to be awkward and act her age. She still can be aloof with strangers, though. Other salient info in her app, I have a permissions post linked there too but it's still unfinished shh.

Abilities: Celes was a test subject involved in the Gestahlian Empire's experiments on Espers, and, in her world, is one of the few living humans who can cast spells at all. On the other hand, by the end of the game, the source of magic itself is gone, so she only has a remnant of her powers left (a little ice magic, a little healing magic). She's still a swordfighter with military training, though!

Plans: I don't have any strong plans at the moment? Celes is still basically learning how to be a normal person, not a general or a survivor of the apocalypse or whatnot. Friendly CR, negative/combative CR, it's all good. (ftr, I'm ambivalent about shippy stuff, partly because this is just one of those characters who will just Not Talk About Romantic Feelings on pain of death. So I'm not really looking for it, but yknow if it happens it happens.)

Besides getting situated, event thoughts:
- She'd definitely throw herself into helping -- if not with repairs outright, then with healing unfortunate accidents, and bodyguarding groups heading into Pessiria Forest. she ain't afraid of sneeple (snake people).
- I've sat here and thought about it and I think besides grilling fish Celes has not cooked anything other than setting-equivalent MREs in her life. she is willing to learn and that's all there is to say about that.

Background: A common enough fandom term of endearment for him is "murder clown" and it isn't a stretch.
Nikolai is one of five major players in a terrorist organization that specializes in murder. Said organization had world domination-like plans Nikolai did a lot to facilitate... Until he did-but-also-didn't for his own purposes. Everything comes down to "proving the existence of a true free will" with him. You probably will see him do some mental gymnastics over it.

Besides that Gogol is just some lil guy who is in a silly goofy mood.

Abilities: I have a opt-in for The Overcoat up now. Please feel free to opt-in to shenanigans here. There is a general opt-out here because BSD is a series that tackles a lot of dark themes ngl.

Plans: Gogol can achieve extreme heights in violence and destruction but he's not mindless about it. In addition to the heeheehoohoo face he is a deeply existential man. Since it looks like "[crime] repercussions may affect all of the Chosen, not just the ones committing said crimes." I think it may be interesting for people with good sense (of any alignment really) to catch on to that with Gogol and run some r...redirection(?). I live off of interesting CR whether that's positive, neutral, or negative doesn't necessarily matter. Dazai only has two hands but three castmates causing problems so please take pity on the man ok

As for Event Plotting:
🧊 I'll be honest I don't think Gogol knows how to repair this kind of thing. BUT he does have the ability to access things in otherwise inaccessible spaces so :}? More importantly I'm always happy to have someone get zapped repeatedly for comic effect.
