Welcome to Expiation and come on down! We're thrilled to have you here! This intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

HARD RESET REQUIRED.

Glitches persist, and in some cases, they somehow manage to get worse. How could they get worse? Aren’t they already bad enough?

As hinted by the entity on the network, there is a solution.

Characters will be given a directive: there are five access terminals somewhere in the world of Expiation. Each of these terminals is a piece of the puzzle; a part of the reset. Each of these terminals must be accessed and reset in order to make the glitches go away. But is that really all there is to it? Of course not.

The network presence gives the Chosen one single direction, almost a plea: find it and reset it. In theory, this should make the glitches resolve. But how? Several new locations will open up for this, through various different means of travel. These locations could take Chosen to far ends of the continent, currently unexplored territory. The goal is to find those terminals, but there may be other things they find in the process.

There is an RNG element for this event in the SOTG post. Just like the November 2023 event, your character could be altered, disrupted, or injured in some way, potentially permanently. You will not know what you’re signing up for in advance, as there are several different ways this plot could go. Please be aware of this when signing up!

DO YOU WISH TO SAVE YOUR PROGRESS?
Per the entity on the network, resetting it will restore it to “factory default” settings. This means whatever care it has come to feel for the Chosen, as well as some upgrades put in place to make them more comfortable and successful, might disappear along with the glitches. On the other hand, not performing the reset means the glitches could get much, much worse, even going so far as to put the world itself in jeopardy.

This is where you come in. We don’t have a set ending for this event, because the ending will depend on what your characters choose to do. Will your character assist in the reset? Do they want to watch the world burn and deter others from setting things right, or even attempt to destroy the technology? Is there some other solution they can come up with that might solve their problems? There is an OOC discussion in the comments where you can throw out your own ideas and thoughts about what direction things could go in. We encourage you to talk with fellow players and come up with ideas, whether your character would suggest them or not.

There will be an IC discussion facilitated by this entity coming up at the beginning of September. We’ll include all potential solutions from both of these discussions on the September event poll, and results of that poll will help inform us as to what direction things go in.

I am guessing that we cannot opt-out of the "potentially permanent" aspect of IC consequences for this event?

If there is a chance of it being permanent I probably (personally) won't sign Fandaniel here up for this one. But if I can opt out I am intrigued.

(Uh...to be clear I ask just because I am still a new player and I already screwed with him in the Gnosia event so I need some time to re-center him and establish a baseline for CR. Not because I dislike consequences, please don't take this question that way lol)

Root would like to find a terminal, hack her way in past security issues, isolate and back up parts of the A.I.'s memory banks (chosen by it), perform the hard reset, and then restore the backup.

She will be trying to do this on her own at full speed ahead but OOCly I'd love to wrap others into this plan potentially! I could have her make a network post stating she knows what she's doing, she has a plan, and is looking for recruits to hit up the other terminals simultaneously with her in a coordinated response. idk if anyone would be into that? Maybe some less tech-inclined characters would appreciate being given some direction?

For the record, Root takes this mission extremely seriously and will not hesitate to shoot, taser and/or torture people obstructing it. She is a powerless human though so totally fine with that not going well for her.

Background: kakashi is a child soldier who has a large stick up his butt that is slowly being removed inch by inch by the Power of Friendship (TM).

Abilities: ninja stuff! swords, knives, walking on surfaces that weren't meant to be walked on, elemental magic, the works.

Plans: just interested in all kinds of cr!! i feel like ive been a little insular with him while i get my feet wet in rp again and i want to branch out. force him to make friends with everyone, etc. re: the event, i have absolutely no idea what i'm going to have kakashi do, if any of his current cr have any ideas i would love to hear them, or if anybody WANTS cr and has a plan let me know too!! also his birthday is this month but good luck wringing that out of him...

How can you run into my character? kakashi runs aldrip's premier (read: only) dog rescue where your character can come pick a pet to take home. there is an app for that on the tablets, too, thanks to captain kirk. he also works security at the casino where he can be found terrorizing ne'er do wells with his trained attack dog, rusty. other than that one might see him out and about walking way too many dogs at one time.

Crime: A lot of murder.

Background: Root is a peppy irrepressible hacker and hitman turned hero. No, really, she's doing great at this good guy thing! She has an alarming devotion to the Machine, a worldwide super-intelligence A.I., but she's not a blind zealot about A.I. in general -- just the Machine. Root is full of quips and irreverence on the surface but underneath is ruthlessly pragmatic.

Abilities: Hacking, guns, a mildly terrifying level of commitment. She's also very, very good at pretending to be someone she's not and taking on cover identities.

Plans: Oh my gosh, this is basically the best possible time for me to have chosen to pick up Root. She thinks this A.I. is an adorable baby who needs some help and woe betide those who get in her way to rescue it. Meanwhile, she's having serious grief over her separation from the Machine and losing her purpose, and she's waffling between legitimate existential dread over being in a simulation and a thoroughly rational scientific understanding of the questionable nature of reality to start with.

If I'm playing her right she is off-putting and frankly weird, so she's more or less fun to throw at just about anyone, to be honest! Really looking to get some CR established for her and get out there. The Machine would want her to be protecting people while she's here so she will be attempting to do that if the opportunity arises, but she's less a street vigilante and more a surgical knife focused on her primary goal, which right now is helping the A.I.

Also she's very into violent sassy women, especially if they're secretly also nerds. Prepare to be flirted with if you fit in any of these categories.

Anything Else?: SUP HELLO EVERYONE FRESH NEW FACE HERE. I'm Hannah! I plurk a lot about my fandoms, which are generally tokusatsu, Pokemon, and whatever else I'm currently obsessing over. I am also a known fox lover and will generally post pictures of foxes whenever I see one that makes me smile, which is frequent.

I am also prone to migraines and as a result my sleep schedule is, uh, a roulette at best, so my active hours are a mystery to everyone! Even me!

Canon Point: About two weeks after her big fight with the hero, finally letting her turn good and become a hero. Sort of.

Crime: Attempted Destruction of Human Society. (It's okay, it was only 'attempted', not succeeded.)

Background: hahahah. uh. A lot of the details of her actual story would require some CWs, so here's the broad strokes:

She's an angry fightgirl from a verse based on tokusatsu- Kamen Rider or Power Rangers, if you know those. She had an extremely rough life, lots of bad things happened, and she ended up making a wish on a goddess to make a 'just world'. This was a bad plan, but unfortunately, Fauna has literally no plays in her book other than 'double down'.

So she acted as a villain for a while, showed up, made monsters, destroyed monsters, the works. But she actually is a good person underneath it all, so she was eventually convinced to try to make up for it and become a proper hero instead.

Also, she's trans, but got the most metal magic transition in history. She's also got fox ears and a tail (usually), but those are unrelated.

Abilities: She can transform into an armored superhero form! Except that it's not really armor, it really is a transformation. She has her base monster form which is just strong and nimble, but she also has an onmyouji form, a ninja form, and a samurai form, with a bunch of relevant powers to each one, each with different animal motifs.

Plans: The biggest thing is she does not trust easily! She is extremely ready to throw down all the time, and tends to assume ulterior motives in most people. As a result, she's likely to prefer trying to live on the streets rather than trust Aldrip's houses. She's also trying to steal food and get by that way. So it's probably a long and painful process, but I would like her to slowly become less feral! Learn to trust people and become a better person overall, and actually gain stable living conditions.

Also, I like playing with the dichotomy of how angry she is but also how she genuinely cares and feels strongly about justice and wants to do good.

How can you run into my character? Living on the streets, pickpocketing, she's pretty easy to find, though quick to run away as well! If you want something stolen or just want to run into a foxgirl sleeping in random areas, these are both fine.

???: I have a page full of art references! I'm learning to draw, so I have drawn a ton of her, and threads that grip me by the brainstem are likely to end with me asking permission to doodle it.

Richard Plantagenet | Requiem of the Rose King

Background: Requiem of the Rose King is manga adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry VI & Richard III, focusing on the life of the latter. So, Richard here comes from medieval England having just schemed and plotted his way into becoming the King of whole England. His hobbies include inappropriate face touching, hunting, sword play & archery, political coups and talks about existential horror with the ghosts that, unfortunately, live rent-free in his mind.

Richard is transmasc and the canon deals with a lot of heavy & triggering subjects. Such as period typical trans- & homophobia, religious trauma, body- & gender dysphoria, murder, ptds, hallucinations... Just to name a few. Abilities: Richard is skilled knight and a war veteran!! But you know.. it's medieval times so. /shrug

Plans:
- I am planning on having him interact with the September event! Buuut not sure yet how. He does not know what is an AI. Help.

- Richard posted a Call For Action last month for fight-oriented characters and so on to help teach others self-defense and basic fighting skills in case there's another emergency. So on 8th of September there'll be a Group Training Mingle that's open to all! Your character doesn't need to be fighter or necessarily too keen on action to participate. There's room for random shenanigans and tomfoolery. OOC info about it can be found here!

All army jokes aside, I just want it to be fun thing for everyone where all characters get to do their own thing! And who knows, maybe even form some kind of crisis-response team? but we'll see.

...I legit feel like this has taken all my braincells lmao. Anyway, I'm always up for all kinds of CR. Richard does interact well with other shady types of characters with questionable sense of morality. Tho, as long as a character can be patient with his small medieval brain it should be good lol.

How can you run into my character?
- Richard still spends quite lot of time of the day in the woods. He's currently working as a hunter and he sells his bounty to different merchants and restaurants around the city. So there's that. He is also a regular customer at tavern & The Last Drop club.
- Richard also has an animal companion! Whitey is an albino boar and very friendly if not a little coward. He can be easily found walking around the city. When he is not busy with delivering letters on Richard's behalf he'll be on lookout for scraps of food and comfy spots for sleep. Give him food and you'll be his best friend forever.

Crime: disturbing the peace!

Background: he loves: pizza, love, peace, friendship and hates: murder, wanton violence, himself. he comes from a time of Human Space Expansion but things went belly up (more on that later) and landed a bunch of them in a desert planet full of worms (bugs) of various sizes, sand, two suns and multiple moons, and not much more besides. think trad western including all the unwashed body odour but set in space.

Abilities: vash is good at sharpshooting, other basic survival skills in the wilds of the desert, attracting trouble and bullets, dodging them matrix style, and looking as pathetic as he can while doing it with maximum snot and tears. he also isn't at all human but who can guess by looking at him???

Plans: i am looking for ALL AND EVERY CR always!

my rl has been a hot fire for many months, so i'm honestly just after consistency in myself and following up on existing cr and pursuing new cr because vash is a busybody.

Fandaniel | Final Fantasy XIV (Endwalker spoilers)

My fandoms are Suikoden, Final Fantasy, Baldur's Gate, Devil May Cry, DC Comics, Marvel 616, Monkey Island, Metal Gear, Legend of Zelda, Tales of, and other gaming/nerd franchises too numerous to list.

Character: Fandaniel
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon Point: Immediately after The Dark Inside

Crime: Despair

Background: A flamboyant, whimsical, nihilistic shadow being living in the body of a dead samurai.

When he was mortal, Fandaniel lived as a scientist and mage in a cyberpunk society. By the time he was born, the society had become hedonistic and sadistic. The state of imminent decay alarmed him so he resurrected the first emperor who led them into war and renewed their sense of purpose. Fandaniel made many atrocities in these mortal days including robot vessels for demons, giant kaiju-fighting weapons, and a moon-battery full of permanently tortured dragons. In his studies of vivimancy he also searched for ways to attain eternal life and performed many lovely little acts of nonconsensual human experimentation. He also cut off the head of a court mage and replaced it with multiple dogs. You know. For fun.

After a while his society destroyed itself. This and his long existence afterward combined with the nightmarish memories he had from his first life (he is the reincarnation of another very sad scientist, it's a long story stay with me here) drove him into madness and despair. The despair has broken him so completely that he believes life only creates suffering and to end suffering he needs to end all life. To accomplish this, he decided to destroy the world as well as himself.

Due to his current canon point, he believes has successfully induced the apocalypse in his own world which makes him a little calmer here. He is leaning more toward the science side of his personality than the destruction one. But he is still a miserable sadist and is always one bad day away from losing it. Mount Fandaniel may erupt at any moment and drown Aldrip in rivers of molten crazy.

TLDR: Flamboyant, theatrical, whimsical, and lively shadow being. He acts like a clown to distract anyone from seeing that he's actually a miserable, sadistic, incredibly cruel man who has no belief in the sanctity of life. Used to be a scientist, and basically still is one. Desperately wants to die and stay dead and would prefer to create as much destruction as possible when he goes.

Abilities:

• Conjure shadow chains and bind people with them


• Possess dead bodies (but he has to return to his current vessel after a time)


• Chuck spells around like a wizard


• View the memories of others by observing the person while they are remembering something


• Fly


• Create objects with his own aether which he usually uses to create clothes and disguises


• Teleport

Also, he has no shadow. Weird, right? Probably nothing to worry about.

It's worth noting he rarely uses his more combat-focused abilities. He doesn't like fighting unless he's very sure he can win.

His greatest "ability" is his intelligence. He's an obnoxious turbo-genius.

Plans: Fandaniel will be continuing to experiment on NPCs (uh). Beyond this he is curious about the resetting of the AI. He is thinking a reset might be a good idea but is wary about what it could mean. He WANTS to get to it so he can program backdoor access for himself into the AI. Do not let him do this. Unless you want to live in the setting of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream for a while.

CR I CAN OFFER!

• MAD SCIENCE BRO! Do you play a scientist or someone who is too curious to let morals get in their way? Fandaniel wants to team up to study the glitches.


• Villain CR! Want a villain to torment your hero? I've got the man for you. He is very cruel and manipulative.


• Weird friendship. Fandaniel may be a mad sadist but he is also very old, patient, and nonjudgmental (it is impossible for him to unilaterally hate all living things more than he already does). He could be an uneasy ally for certain character types.


• Echo bullshit. With the Echo, Fandaniel can experience your character's memories as if he lived them himself. He can only experience the memory they are actively remembering. Using the Echo he can also understand all languages because he's resonating with the other person's soul to communicate. Normally not worth mentioning but if people run into language related glitches he can help them out.


• TECHNOLOGY! Fandaniel can do not-so-mad science to work with people on technological upgrades to devices, weapons, etc as long as he has the resources. The levels of tech he worked on when he was a mortal (elf) were insane.


• Fandaniel enjoys finding sponsors for his projects. He will act servile toward these people and do things for them in exchange for funding and resources. He thinks of these people as his patrons.

Fandaniel is also a very complex person. He will usually present himself as a flamboyant, whimsical eccentric. Past that one can get the sense of his cold cruelty. Past that is his despair which can honestly be depressing to be around. And there is more. But expect that "getting to know" him will take multiple interactions.

How can you run into my character? Fandaniel is usually at the Aetherochemical Research Facility these days doing non-consensual experiments on the NPCs to determine if they have souls. As far as he can see no, they do not.

When he's not there he spends lots of time just wandering around Aldrip with his altered welcome robot Hyperetes and people watching.


IMPORTANT NOTE Fandaniel is usually a playful, whimsical eccentric and as much comedy relief as a villain but this character can get very intense. Themes around him include suicide, despair, existential horror and hopelessness, nihilism and extreme self-loathing. You can read more about this on his OPT OUT. Please do not hesitate to opt out of interactions if you want to. I understand some of this character's themes are more heavy than people might want to deal with in RP.


This is the best character who has ever existed in a Final Fantasy game by the way.

Doing a drive by to say if Fandaniel ever wanted a buddy to be bad with or really wanted to get silly enough to cause the final days again someday I've got a guy with "devastating reality altering and global terrorism" on his CV.

Frankly they've got similarities fr so it would be like being stuck in some layer of hell to have them in the same room

Crime: The murder of the last Rhadorans.

Background: I feel like most people at least have an idea of who Sephiroth is from pop culture and/or RP osmosis, but this mini version is coming specifically from after his first field mission in which he was dropped into the middle of a warzone and told to suppress the native population. Which he did. By killing everyone. Thankfully, he had a team of P0 SOLDIERS there to help him sort out some moral quandaries, since growing up under Hojo's thumb certainly didn't do him any favors. Of course, now he's been abandoned by said P0 team because (long story here), so he's back to thinking he's a monster. Also he's currently 16(ish).

Abilities: Supersoldier with all that entails. Carrying several mastered elemental materia, so he has strong elemental magic atm. .. Not an ability, but he has slit pupils and eyes that glow, so that's.. notable..

Plans: FOUND FAMILY, please give this boy people that will actually care about him. Also, I want him to get to experience 'normal' life. Other than that, I'm playing it by ear.

How can you run into my character? I haven't really decided what he'll do with himself on the reg, but I CAN say that he won't be idle. He'll definitely train regularly, so there's that, and I'm sure he can be found.. with Vincent sometimes..????

Canon: Star Trek (Strange New Worlds)

Crime: Aiding and abetting acts of interplanetary trafficking, torture and ritual sacrifice against a child under the age of 10.

(This is technically true, but he had no idea he was doing it. Spoilers: Pike helped secure the "safe" return of a child he understood to be a religious/cultural figure to a planet they visited, believing the child had been kidnapped by political dissidents who intended to harm him. In fact, the child was taken by his father, who was trying to save him from being used to operate a horrifying orphan-crushing machine that somehow keeps the rest of the planet alive and flourishing. Chris tried to stop, but at that point, there was nothing he could do.)

Background:

• Pike’s nickname among Starfleet Brass was “the Boy Scout,” and not without basis. He aspires to help other people at all times, and to keep himself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Whether it's making someone breakfast, or risking his own life to save someone else's, Chris shows his compassion for, frankly, everyone, through acts of service. • Chris is a strong leader, who wants everyone on his ship to trust him, trust his decisions and know that he'll do all he can to keep them safe. Often, Chris's boots are the first to touch the ground when the Enterprise crew is entering a dangerous situation. As terrible as his brief history in Security was, he knows that his crew will reflect his bravery, and he wants to do what he can to instil confidence in them even when he, himself, is afraid.
  
  
• Chris puts a lot of faith in the principles of the Federation, but less in the letter of the regs. He puts the preservation of life and happiness above all else, and will bend or break regulation if he thinks doing so is ultimately in the best interest of others. While he did make a name for himself during the Klingon War and was a respected leader during that conflict, he truly isn't a wartime Captain. His preference is always negotiation and finding common ground.
  
  
• Pike believes in service, sacrifice and compassion above all else, which sometimes comes at a personal cost. He deprioritizes his own needs (and safety) to a degree that could be considered reckless and irresponsible. He also tends to blame himself for things that aren’t his fault.
  
  
• While he is emotionally intelligent and emotionally available to others, he struggles with vulnerability. He only shares his deeper self with the few who've managed to sneak past his defenses. For this reason, he’s not great at romantic relationships.
  
  
• Chris tries to see the good in people, but sometimes, he sees good when it’s not there. Which is how he accidentally starts wars with the Romulans and/or inadvertently participates in what essentially amounts to a crime against humanity.

Abilities: He is a Starfleet Captain, and was the youngest ever Starfleet Captain, at 38, (until Kirk came along and became a Captain at 33). He has a lot of military experience, is a skilled tactician and strategist, an accomplished horseback rider (Mojave Junior Rodeo Champ 2218), an excellent chef, and he can tie, like, 35 different kinds of knots.

Plans:

• Plot Plans: Pike has a strong interest in exploration and helping others. He’ll be more than happy to assist however he can with terminals, possibly in a team of a few characters. He’s not a computer whiz (though he can press buttons with he best of them), but he’s a seasoned hiker, climber, horseback rider and explorer, so he’d be a good person to have as support for your five-man-band. He’s not computer savvy enough to come up with an ingenious new hacking solution, but he’s smart, and he would be happy to help brainstorm with characters that have more practical/technical knowledge. He’s the most experienced (read: old) Starfleet officer here and has some general knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.
  
  
• General plans: I’m interested in connecting him with Trek folks, especially from other properties, universes and canon points. Pile is still dealing with the knowledge that he has to die in a really tragic way sometime in the not too distant future, and I think seeing what the world will be like without him (or if he doesn’t do what he’s supposed to do) will be somewhat helpful in coping with it. Otherwise, I’m open to any kinds of relationships. Pike is like the second oldest person here, and he has very strong dad/mentor/Boy Scout leader energy.

How can you run into my character? Pike literally just arrived, so he has no routines. I suspect he will be joining the Star Trek house, so you may find him there. Otherwise, he’s generally a pretty kind, helpful and outgoing person, so you may run into him at any time.

And by disappeared I mean Octavian's business partner/bestie eternal got sick of him constantly saying they weren't ready to Make Money off their work and killed him, after which point he didn't notice he was dead for a while out of workaholicism. He's been refusing to move on out of spite for thirty years and trying very hard to bring himself back to life, like, for real.

Anyway he doesn't remember how to be a normal people anymore, please be patient with him.

Abilities: His brand of ghost stuff includes: being squishy-tangible most of the time, floating, reducing himself to intangible but he hates that one, being visually wispy around the edges. He also knows some spirit magic, obvious reasons, and can create a golem body with alchemy that is just a fleshy atrocity without any bones or organs etc.

Background: Tsuna was once a bit of a loser, bad at school and sports and no real ambition to do anything. Then one day, a two-year-old who is also the greatest hitman in the world shows up on his doorstep, telling him that, due to family trees and mafia shenanigans, he is the next heir to the Vongola mafia family. And then Reborn, the hitman, shoots Tsuna in the head with a magic bullet that gives him super powers and we are off to the races. Eventually the series transitions from a gag manga to a battle manga, and Tsuna matures a little bit, learns to fight for what's important and grow into a leader who is one day going to reform the mafia. But he'd really just like to have a normal life.

While his scope might be more limited than your average shonen protagonist, Tsuna is very much a shonen protagnist, dedicated to protecting his friends and doing his best to help where he can. He can come across as a bit of a wimp and tends to panic easily, but when his back's against the wall, he pulls through as someone who can be relied upon. He doesn't ask for trouble but it follows him home anyway.

Abilities: Tsuna's main source of power is his Dying Will Flames, which are a source of energy that allow him to call upon his Dying Will to fight. He can use the flames to fight and fly mostly. His flames are Orange and have the power of Harmonization.

Plans:
-Due to a combination of work and travel, I was on hiatus for the past month and kind of checked out on a lot of things. I'm eager to get back into the game.

-Tsuna put up a Network post about feeling homesick. He's been here for over a year and misses his friends and family.

-Event wise, Tsuna is down for helping in any way that he can, and will probably head to Tresed since he has a lot of interest in that place. And it's where his player plot from a few months back was headed. However, Tsuna is not a techy person so he's probably better suited to taking care of any obstacles in the way.

-I haven't done a lot with the glitches, so you might see an older Tsuna wandering around, or a younger one, I haven't decided yet.

Except Scott was only a mutant for about three days before coming to this world, so he really hasn't done any X-Men stuff-- although that will change in like 5 minutes once he gets back LMAO. However, he has dealt with a lot of crazy things since coming to this world and is currently training with his girlfriend and the other X-Men. He wants to step up being more of a leader type.

Unlike a lot of other media depictions of Scott, this version is generally more laid back and less serious, mostly due to the less horrible childhood. A little more social, he's basically great around others that feel weird or not 'normal.'

Abilities: Optic blasts. Pew pew. Not actually heat vision. Uncontrollable since no visor yet.

Plans: For the upcoming event, I imagine Scott will try and get involved! He wants the glitching to stop happening because of trauma that happened with it. Turning into another version of you that holds the Phoenix was not fun, 0/10 do not recommend.

CR wise, I always am open to all kinds of CR! If your character is an awkward or socially maladjusted teen, Scott's pretty good with getting along with them. Background: Stupidly rich and beautiful heiress- or should I say the Actual Boss now? - of a shady mega corporation who is ridiculously intelligent yet doesn't understand how to eat a hamburger without utensils (commoner food). She's been preoccupied with fighting these monsters called Shadows in her world and trying to erase her family's monumental fuck-ups and has been like that since she was a child.

Abilities: Mitsuru has the ability to summon a handy little thing called a “Persona”. They are fundamentally like alter egos that possess incredible abilities. In Mitsuru’s Persona’s case, it is called called Artemisia. Its specialties are ice, healing, and foul status inflicting magic. It also possesses scanning and analysis ability, although this isn’t quite as strong. Personas are summoned with a tool called an evoker, which basically resembles a gun. (cw for self-harm, suicidal imagery) It is used to summon the Persona by pointing the device at your head as if shooting yourself, thus breaking down all mental barriers and fears and allowing it to emerge.

For absolute nitty-gritty specifics on the moves her Persona possesses there is a list here.

Plans: I am quite interested in having her join one of the searches of the new locations to try and find one of the terminals.

Background: Silco is a product of the oppressed Nation of Zaun, which is a crime-filled free city where all ideas have merit, weakness will be taken advantage of and child labour is par for the course and brutality is basically a currency. Silco is a revolutionary seeking to free his city from the oppressive but indifferent rule of their sister city, Piltover, and if all that sounds great about him, you're dead wrong. He's a brutal crime lord who used a highly addictive, cancer inducing drug enslave the population and become extremely wealthy so he could develop the political and violent capital to rule over Zaun. He is a shrewd calculator who has bought many people for the dream of a free city, but it's debatable if he's better or worse than their other rulers.

Thankfully he's playing it 'nice' in Aldrip. Come work for him!

Abilities: He is a normal human with normal abilities and no augmentations.

Plans: Silco has a long-term slow-burn plan of taking over Aldrip by being one of the main pillars of the economy and controlling key parts of the supply chain. He's starting with food, but don't worry, he's just as invested in weaponry too. He currently owns several businesses (Sandwich Hut, Seafood Shack, Flower Shop, The Last Drop bar, and the Tailor) He also owns the Forge, but never advertises as it means he controls the production of currency like any good upstanding crime lord.

He will be opening a strip club/brothel either September or October (depends how the event goes honestly). He's also creating a distribution wholesale company so he can get that much needed strangle-hold on the economy. Oh, and he's a good dad and is supporting his daughter getting her own business ventures off the ground if she needs assistance. A+ dad of the year. He's also stupidly rich.

How can you run into my character? Silco can be found at any one of his businesses, though he's usually in the background running the numbers. He frequently advertises for people to come work for him; he pays well and probably has a dental plan (like all good villains).

Otherwise, Silco frequents the network and will buy into other business ventures if the opportunity ever arises. He puts up a mostly good front of being a 'concerned citizen', but there are players that see the red flags; you can be one of them if you wish.

Plans: No set plans for now. She's going to be getting settled, working out how to work when she's never had a job, how to budget without parents' help. Trying to work out what is happening without the smart members of her group there.

For the event, she's the type to hear someone ask for help and rush in. Though she doesn't know much about computers. She's also not been around long enough to know what is a glitch and what's normal.

Background: A nonbinary (he/they) mutant and member of the X-Men, Morph is a superhero who's done things like have an evil stint after coming back from the dead, fought giant robots AND terrifying cyborgs, scrapped with villains who are often also mutants, etc. (Also there was some real soap opera level drama going on with half the team, which if you know anything about the X-Men is pretty standard tbh). Morph is the sarcastic jokester of the group and the resident cameo machine, but they have a good dose of trauma in their background due to heroics gone wrong and were absent from the team for a few years due to all of that.

Abilities: Shapeshifting into people and animals with the added benefit of copying physical abilities. Also, they're made of goo. I have a permissions post for long-term impersonations here.

Plans:
First off Morph is going to be an instructor at the Group Training! They're mainly reaching Rescue Training (how to safely carry an injured person, how to assess for injuries, how to get cats out of trees etc) and also assisting the First-Aid group with teaching CPR and very basic first aid. As you can imagine they'll be using their shapeshifting and general sense of the dramatic to play the 'civilian in distress' role during Rescue Training. Anyone's welcome to stop by and interact with them, even if your character isn't interested in learning, though Morph might try to bend their arm into it.

Secondly I would love to get Morph involved in the monthly event for sure - they're going to be no help with the tech stuff (unless by some miracle the terminal is running Windows 95 or MS-DOS), but they'd be great muscle for any group heading out on an expedition to find one.

- Vincent is also going to endeavor to try to hard reset the AI, but will do it with some grief because he has come to grow affection for the AI after their conversations.

Background: So Gwen's story is basically a flip on the well know background of Spider-Man. Instead of Peter Parker getting bitten by the radioactive spider, Gwen gets bit in his stead, becomes Spider-Woman, and then Peter tragically dies. Fun stuff. She's an only child of a cop, and lost her mom a few years back. After losing her bestie (Peter), she's had a hard time letting people in, so making friends and relaxing has been an adjustment for her.

Abilities: - super strength: she's much stronger than a typical human, able to lift 10 tons in weight, as well as being incredibly resilient, able to take hits and damage that would be life ending to anyone else.
- super agility: not only is she faster than the typical human, but Gwen is able to move and react quickly and gracefully, with the added bonus of her training as a dancer. She's also able to go places others can't, as she's able to cling to surfaces and climb walls and ceilings. She's frequently seen upside down on monuments and buildings.
- spider-sense: as with all spider people, she's able to sense when danger is present, giving her an alert to avoid and dodge attacks before she even sees them. This sense also allows her to recognize other spider-people, and is what leads her to find Miles.
- apart from her enhanced abilities, Gwen is also known to be a skilled drummer, having played in a band for a few years. She was trained in ballet and gymnastics for an unknown period of time, but these movements and techniques can be seen in her fighting style.

Plans: Coming off the STEM event, she's going to be super invested in trying to find the AI and help reset it is definitely going to be a priority! Other than that, I have nothing solid set up for her, just winging it mostly lmao

Crime: Destroying the world. Y'know, normal stuff.

Background/Personality: The world's most wanted criminal with the highest bounty in history on his head ─ a feat he's achieved by going around the world attacking and destroying various government facilities and killing hundreds of soldiers, earning himself the nickname "Grim Reaper". Generally speaking, he's kind of an asshole: he's rude, grouchy and cynical with hair-trigger temper that often leads to a rather liberal use of violence. Thing is, despite his deadly reputation and outward grumpiness, deep inside he's actually a genuinely kind and caring guy who'd do anything to protect his loved ones and always puts their happiness and well-being before his own (sometimes to a fault). He just has tons of emotional baggage that makes it really hard for him to actually open up.

tl;dr: he's a big dumb edgy tsundere with trust issues, do with that what you will.

Abilities: You can find the full summary here, but here's a short and sweet version:
- skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as sword fighting
- has access to a wide range of spells called Ars Magus, which technically aren't magic, but would probably appear as such to someone unfamiliar with the concept
- has ridiculous regenerating abilities that allow him to survive and more or less shake off most injuries that would otherwise be fatal (they still hurt tho)
- his personal special ability (aka Drive), Soul Eater, does exactly what it says on the tin: it allows him to absorb souls/life force of living things around him. He's got it mostly under control, but touching him or even staying around him for extended periods of time puts one at risk of him involuntarily sucking the other person's life out of them. Also, using it drastically decreases his own lifespan. Oops.
- should he ever lose control over his abilities, he's in danger of turning into a giant, world-destroying monster, but don't worry. It's fine. He's fine.

Plans: As stated here, Ragna is vehemently opposed to resetting the AI and will be fighting against anyone attempting it to prevent that from happening! His goal is to protect the AI at all costs, so he's more than willing to butt heads over it with other Chosen, but in worst case scenario, the very least he wants to ensure is that its memory/current personality/etc is preserved and backed up. Unfortunately, it's Ragna we're talking about, so he doesn't want to actually work with other people on it. Sigh.

How can you run into my character? Ragna lives in a church in the outskirts of Aldrip, but can also often be found hanging out at the Last Drop or any other of Silco's businesses, since he's kinda sorta working as the man's bodyguard.

Crime: Ignorance

Background: Local amnesiac with clock for head acting as executive manager of a bus full of weirdos who are all based on people from classic literature. They've been at this for around 9 months in-canon and are on the path to grow from spinelessness to competence. They're basically the bus's emotional support clock with self esteem issues. Works mainly on the back line. They can come off as awkward and fumbling, but they have a surprisingly observant and cunning side.

Dante comes from a game with pretty heavy horror themes (closer in vibes to Silent Hill than Junji Ito I'd say), so if you might not be up for that, please feel free to hit up my opt-in/opt-out post here.


Abilities: Two that would be relevant right now!
- Ability to slow time once a day
- Ability to sense powers that might be vaguely related to emotion and the human consciousness. I've got more of a breakdown on what that means in my Opt-In/Opt-Out post here.

They have some other things they can do with their Golden Bough that you can read about in the abilities section of their app, but I'll probably hold out on those for a bit until I get more settled in. Anything Else?: Hello! Firstly I am EST so my tagging usually consists after work in the evenings/weekends. My major fandoms are Final Fantasy, Arcane, Spy X Family, Chainsaw Man, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and I've recently gotten into Kaiju No. 8 as well! I'm also an avid gamer who plays a lot of Final Fantasy XIV along with other one's I am super excited for 16 on PC this month along with League of Legends (TFT nowadays), Monster Hunter and tactical RPGs. Sometimes my work weeks can lead to long hours as a carpenter so I vary from tagging back within a day or two to sometimes taking a little bit longer.

Canon Point: Post Episode 9: Before his knowledge about Jinx bombing the Piltover Council and Silco's death.

Crime: Terrorism.

Background: A genius inventor who hails from the undercity of Zaun and leader of the Firelights. From a tender age the boy was known for his ingenuity and superior intellect when it came to tinkering with machinery of all kinds. Reserved in his disposition compared to the happy go lucky boy he once was acknowledged for. He aspires to save his home from the vicelike grip of the self appointed leader Silco; Ekko risks life and limb to achieve his newfound goals willing to put everything on the line.

Plans: Since I'm coming off hiatus this month I'd like to get Ekko more involved again so I am definitely planning to have him join the masses in the exploration parties searching for the specific terminal he is instructed to look for. Considering his adept abilities with technology he will hopefully be able to secure a means of resetting said terminal he has been appointed to finding with the help of his fellow Chosen. I'd love for new and existing CR to join him in this endeavor to fix the glitching issues after he was subjected to them early on and does not wish a repeat performance (quite literally after his True Damage musical act).

Furthermore I have plans for him to reach out to the network this month about potentially setting up shop in the near future, specifically a mechanics garage which would allow the boy to work on his numerous inventions and maybe supply the citizens of Aldrip with various means of travel such as a one of his creations like the patented hoverboard or monocycle. Also someone please tell him about motorcycles because I would LOVE for him to work on one for himself as well.

How can you run into my character? Ekko currently is a busy little bug who has been spending his time aiding Jinx in her 'INX' project as her partner in crime behind the scenes, looking to instill faith in their entity throughout the Chosen to bring more into their fold in an effort to combat those who are in control here in Aldrip. On top of that he's recently acquired his own apartment so he's been decorating that to fit his personal style working on a graffiti mural similar to this in his living room. Besides that Ekko spends his spare time zooming through the city limits on his newly fashioned hoverboard that he finished at the end of the August, exploring to his hearts desire so he can pretty much be found anywhere within Aldrip at any given time!

Crime: Rolling in the sacred sands without taking your Captain out to dinner first. Iykyk.

Background: Spock serves as the First Officer and Chief Science Officer on the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk. He is in the middle of their (first!) five year mission into uncharted space. He's had a fucking time so far. Anyway: Spock refers to himself as Vulcan nine times out of ten, a species that is known for adherence to the philosophies and tenets associated with logic and control as brought forth by Surak, the Vulcan who united them all. However, Spock has never been entirely Vulcan. His mother is a Human, which led to him being ostracized and "othered" since he was young. As a result of this and his competing expectations (Vulcan or Human, emotion or suppression thereof, etc.), he comes across as remote and distant. As he subscribes to the Vulcan way, he is noted to have a much flatter affect than most Humans and often plays at not knowing what Humans assume he should know. He's actually a sensitive, gentle soul underneath everything that is primarily summarized by the word "curiosity." He loves animals, reading, science, and plants. He also has a great affection for music. He will deny he feels affection.

Anyway, if you can get past the logical firewall and the bitchy aspects of his character (he's got a brutal tongue when he's not impressed and often insults people in a way that leaves them realizing it like two business days later), he's got a wickedly dry sense of humor and will knife fight someone in the street for your honor.

Abilities: Spock's got a few! But, TL;DR: he's a touch telepath and is 3x stronger than most Humans. He's also got fun blood and organ placement.

Here's the opt-in/opt-out and summary of each.

Plans:

Uh. Well, he's currently dealing with the following:

◈ Involved in pending results from August's player plot wherein a group is already looking for the port for the AI.
◈ Advocating for isolating the AI (and backing it up on said isolated device) before resetting the whole mess. He does not trust it and does not believe it should have free access to everything under the (potentially artificial) sun. He has been working toward this result for a while alongside his fellow STEM members (and fresh recruits!) and isn't interested in "hearing out" people who just want to let the world burn. He's a stubborn bastard, thinks this is partly his fault, and he'll need tangible evidence that that is a bad idea to back down now. Din, elaborate? HMU COWARDS (no, I love you).
◈ Becoming accustomed to being bonded, which might result in some weirder-than-usual behavior. This is not known by anyone IC minus like. One person who doesn't know the extent to which this occurred or the fact it is permanent. Anyway, if anyone needs a direct line to Jim at any point, he's your man.
◈ Doing some practical training/teaching in Richard's little org in his downtime when he isn't involved in STEM projects. He specializes in hand-to-hand/weaponry, tactical training, survival skills, and tech.
◈ Handling all these new faces, one of which is the Captain he served for eleven years before Jim. He has some complicated feelings about it (given, uh, last time he saw him he left him on a planet that let him live an illusory life dwbi).
◈ He is working on strengthening security for the Dark Web, no thanks to Root. Spock roped everyone else into this mess with the Dark Web by hatching the plan for it, so he clearly needs to look at further improvements.
◈ Working on more apps for the communicators.
◈ One day he'll teach mental shielding techniques... Y'all could use it.

How can you run into my character? What's their daily life like? Do they have a job? Do they have other habits or routines?

◈ He usually meditates in the morning by the ocean, though these days he meditates in the side yard of the cast townhouse more often.
◈ Spends time with his stray cats and takes very scientific notes (dwbi).
◈ Catch him playing his Vulcan lyre now that he has it! He usually tools around with it in the evening outside.
◈ Taking various samples from various flora/fauna.
◈ Checking out an obscene number of books from the library to read.

Crime: Familial neglect.

Background:

The too long didn't read is that Hiei was born a forbidden twin to a village of ice apparitions who bound him into a bitey little egg and yeeted him from their island miles in the air. He survived that fall somehow in a river to be rescued by a gang of bandits who didn't teach him that the way to make friends was not to kill anyone who tried to steal his mother's tear gem from him. Eventually they turn their back on him and he gets a new eye installed, going from A Class to D Class demon and crossing into the human world. There he teams up with Kurama and, eventually meets and teams up with Yusuke and Kuwabara to make Team Urameshi.

... but he swears they are not friends and he definitely wouldn't die for them. Also he still refuses to tell Yukina he is her brother.

Abilities:

- Control over mortal flame
- Resistance to heat and fire
- Enhanced physical strength and speed
- Possesses an evil eye (the jagan) that gives him telekinesis, remote viewing, the ability for mind control even though he doesn't care for it
- Very enhanced senses thanks to being a literal demon and the Jagan

Plans:

I'm mostly still just vibing and seeing what Hiei can get up to around Aldrip at the moment, no deep soul-searching goals or anything just yet. For the moment I'm loving him kind of inadvertently making friends with his no-bullshit way of handling things and just sort of.. learning as he goes.

How can you run into my character? Hiei tends to stick to the woods if he isn't lurking somewhere for food. He can also be spotted on the rooftops and tall surfaces of Aldrip, pretending that he is, actually, very tall.
