INTRO MEME

Welcome to Expiation and come on down! We're thrilled to have you here! This intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

MARCH EVENT

MARCH EVENT SUMMARY

IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY

Characters wake up on the morning of March 11 to note a few things with relative immediacy. First, the weather is beautiful: warm, breezy, sunny. Second, all of the locals in Aldrip and the surrounds seem to have vanished. Third, these things seem totally normal to the Chosen–who now all believe that they are native to Aldrip.

That’s right. You’ve lived here your whole life. Everything you’ve ever known is this world.

Characters will go about their daily business in lives that they believe have always been like this. You’re free to choose any jobs, roles, backgrounds, and connections with other Chosen for your characters, so long as they believe that they have always lived in Expiation. All character powers are gone, or dormant, for most of the event. More on that later.

LOST AND FOUND

Occasionally, while going about their daily activities, characters will come across an item that seems strangely incongruous with the world they know. This will begin happening after the first few days of the event. A symbol particularly relevant to your character’s canon, for example, or a book. Watches, jewelry, cards, photos, small trinkets and tableaus–all of these are fair game.

Everything in your character will tell them not to look at these objects. Their entire being will try to resist them. If they do, the item disappears when they leave its immediate area. What item? They forget about the entire encounter. Strange.

Touching or interacting with these objects or moments will force a strange memory into their head–a memory of a past life, or a dream, maybe. These are your characters’ real memories, and as the event goes on, they will be able to either collect or ignore more of them. You’re free to engage with as many or as few of these as you like. We’ll ask on the event poll how many you interact with, and how many you ignore. The final count may have lasting repercussions on your characters and/or the world of Expiation, so please pay attention to the poll! Not all of these instances need to be threaded out.

There will be an RNG ELEMENT in this event, as well. Please note that characters who are picked for RNG have a small but nonzero chance that RNG effects could have a long-lasting impact on them.

Character: Ragna the Bloodedge

Canon Point: At the end of BlazBlue: Centralfiction.

Crime: Destroying the world. Y'know, normal stuff.

Background/Personality: The world's most wanted criminal with the highest bounty in history on his head ─ a feat he's achieved by going around the world attacking and destroying various government facilities and killing hundreds of soldiers, earning himself the nickname "Grim Reaper". Generally speaking, he's kind of an asshole: he's rude, grouchy and cynical with hair-trigger temper that often leads to a rather liberal use of violence. Thing is, despite his deadly reputation and outward grumpiness, deep inside he's actually a genuinely kind and caring guy who'd do anything to protect his loved ones and always puts their happiness and well-being before his own (sometimes to a fault). He just has tons of emotional baggage that makes it really hard for him to actually open up.

tl;dr: he's a big dumb edgy tsundere with trust issues, do with that what you will.

Abilities: You can find the full summary here, but here's a short and sweet version:
- skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as sword fighting
- has access to a wide range of spells called Ars Magus, which technically aren't magic, but would probably appear as such to someone unfamiliar with the concept
- has ridiculous regenerating abilities that allow him to survive and more or less shake off most injuries that would otherwise be fatal (they still hurt tho)
- his personal special ability (aka Drive), Soul Eater, does exactly what it says on the tin: it allows him to absorb souls/life force of living things around him. He's got it mostly under control, but touching him or even staying around him for extended periods of time puts one at risk of him involuntarily sucking the other person's life out of them. Also, using it drastically decreases his own lifespan. Oops.
- should he ever lose control over his abilities, he's in danger of turning into a giant, world-destroying monster, but don't worry. It's fine. He's fine.

Plans: Oopsie.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, after months of good (?) behavior, Ragna's here to shake things up, figuratively and literally. Finally deciding he's had enough of Jerry's and the Council's shenanigans, he will pay them a visit... by blowing up the City Hall. He has yet to encounter a problem he cannot kill, after all. I will be putting a post up for it because he's a bit of a drama bitch like that and has no intention of hiding the fact he's behind a terrorist attack; while the event itself will occur late on March 10th, it will be posted earlier and forward-dated to give you all some time to collectively facepalm at this stunning display of complete idiocy.

As for when the consequences of his own actions catch up to him, that is, the his AU life, here's what I got so far:

- older brother to Ange; after the death of their parents, he took over as her legal guardian and has been working hard to be part-sibling, part-parent to her. He frets over her a lot, worrying that he might not be doing a good enough job at that, and can be a little overprotective at times, so if you ever try to flirt with his little sister, he WILL murder you;
- sort of mentor figure to Jinx; he's aware of her past, but seeing how determined she was to make her dreams come true, he decided to take her under his wing and teach her cooking/baking;
- a couple of years older than Yu, he tried to be this ~cool senpai~ to look up to to him back in school (he was not, in fact, cool); now lowkey embarrassed by that, but he still likes he guy;
- he runs a small but cozy udon place; it may not be much, but it has its regulars and it's enough to get by, even if it requires him to put long hours into it;
- overall, he can still be a bit of a grouchy asshole, but nowhere near the levels of his usual self, and he's actually not opposed to the idea of friendship, oh my
