INTRO MEME

Welcome to Expiation and come on down! We're thrilled to have you here! This intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

MARCH EVENT

MARCH EVENT SUMMARY

IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY

Characters wake up on the morning of March 11 to note a few things with relative immediacy. First, the weather is beautiful: warm, breezy, sunny. Second, all of the locals in Aldrip and the surrounds seem to have vanished. Third, these things seem totally normal to the Chosen–who now all believe that they are native to Aldrip.

That’s right. You’ve lived here your whole life. Everything you’ve ever known is this world.

Characters will go about their daily business in lives that they believe have always been like this. You’re free to choose any jobs, roles, backgrounds, and connections with other Chosen for your characters, so long as they believe that they have always lived in Expiation. All character powers are gone, or dormant, for most of the event. More on that later.

LOST AND FOUND

Occasionally, while going about their daily activities, characters will come across an item that seems strangely incongruous with the world they know. This will begin happening after the first few days of the event. A symbol particularly relevant to your character’s canon, for example, or a book. Watches, jewelry, cards, photos, small trinkets and tableaus–all of these are fair game.

Everything in your character will tell them not to look at these objects. Their entire being will try to resist them. If they do, the item disappears when they leave its immediate area. What item? They forget about the entire encounter. Strange.

Touching or interacting with these objects or moments will force a strange memory into their head–a memory of a past life, or a dream, maybe. These are your characters’ real memories, and as the event goes on, they will be able to either collect or ignore more of them. You’re free to engage with as many or as few of these as you like. We’ll ask on the event poll how many you interact with, and how many you ignore. The final count may have lasting repercussions on your characters and/or the world of Expiation, so please pay attention to the poll! Not all of these instances need to be threaded out.

There will be an RNG ELEMENT in this event, as well. Please note that characters who are picked for RNG have a small but nonzero chance that RNG effects could have a long-lasting impact on them.

Crime: disturbing the peace ... that's his entire existence ngl

Background: vash is just a Normal Guy (totally) who really, really, really loves helping people and being there for everyone all the time forever. sounds pretty awful, right? he is a classic people pleaser who ignores his own problems (and runs away from them) and sticks his nose into other people's business instead because if he keeps his body moving and his mind occupied at all times with Making Himself Useful to others, he can avoid falling into the pit of despair.

Abilities: he comes with a miscellaneous set of skills - mostly relating to survival / outdoors because the planet he comes from is 100% desert. vash is also a very good and precise sharpshooter if he does use a gun, and is pretty good at hand to hand combat / dodging / running like a gecko to save his skinny flat ass. his other canon abilities are really a moot point here bc they are ~space alien~ stuff, but at least he's got a cool metal arm that can shoot a spiderman swingy stuff. apart from that he is really good at getting into trouble.

➤ go searching for disappeared animals! maybe a bunch of rude goats were misplaced and now are screaming in random parts of the town? idk let's have fun with this.

➤ constantly getting lost around town while trying to help someone else with directions? he s2g he isn't this bad usually?

➤ MARCH 11+ PLOTTING: please come at me, he can be your big bro or your dumb cousin or even just a slightly strange neighbour that you don't want to talk to but he starts a long conversation with you all the time so you have to find excuses to get away (wait isn't that just normal tho?) vash may or may not come with a strange kid / brother / family member aka finalrun :>

How can you run into my character? vash will probably be found ANYWHERE ... he can literally be talked into almost anything (except, you know, murder). i'd love for him to continue to get more cr and also would love to work on strengthening the cr he has already :)

Crime: Rebelling against miracles. As you do.

Juri is part of Student Council except that it's a cult? They wear rings with rose crests in their left ring finger as a mark of Duelist and get shady letters from someone who calls themselves as The End of the World. Then they have these shady duels behind school forest about ownership of a magical waifu that can give you the power to Revolutionize the World... whatever that means. Juri is actually most levelheaded out of the group and she only wants the magical waifu to destroy power of miracles. It's all symbolic about being closeted gay and trapping herself in toxic, unrequited love ok.

But outside of her cult activities Juri's hobbies include being perfect and fabulous. She likes fencing, bowling and modelling. Other than that she enjoys taking long walks during the night in her expensive haute couture evening gown and cry at the moon because the girl she likes won't return her calls.

Abilities: She's your average girl! With mad sword fighting skills

Plans: Juri will have no memories of her last, very brief, visit to Aldrip so she'll be starting a fresh! I am looking for all kinds of CR at the moment. Friends, frenemies, weird shit, combat things, political talks or whatsoever. Also she needs to meet The Gays and potentially learn to be more open about her own deal.

AS FOR EVENT:

- I want to go Extra. She'll be heiress to influential Jewellery. So, it'd mean that she'd have ties all over the places: mining industries, local markets, other influential characters/members etc. I also would like her to have some connection to the more criminal oriented people and so.

- I'm all about for AUed/established CR. So if anyone wants a bitter rival, childhood friend, crush or anything between heaven and earth goes!

How can you run into my character? Um.. I'm giving the very vague: everywhere. She's new here so there's no routines or habits formed yet. She'll be staying at the Inn for time being, so that's a good place to start.

Background: Yu is a pretty chill guy who is secretly kind of a weirdo. He likes making friends and working approximately 500 jobs at one time, and has a whole bunch of brain demons at his disposal that might be getting an upgrade sometime depending on whether I can get it together to put in for regains.

Abilities: Personas! He's a wildcard, so he's got like 10-12 of them

Plans:

BLACKOUT: he'll be checking in on everyone he knows at some point or another, and probably putting in some extra working hours to help out. At the same time, he is a modern boy who has never been without power, except for that one school camping trip, so like. He's out here doing his best and his best may or may not be cutting it.

EVENT: here's where I could use some help! I don't have anything plotted out with anyone so far, but I'm going clean slate with Yu, meaning I want his relationships with other people to be totally different from what they are in Expi. So if anyone wants to be friends, family, coworkers, dating, etc -- I'm open to all manner of wacky relationships and shenanigans! Let's plot something out.

He'll be working at a flower shop and a bookstore and being a huge nerd. I haven't decided how many memories he'll be getting back, but I think I'm going to sign him up for RNG as well.

How can you run into my character? Yu has a bunch of odd jobs around town, so you can really find him just about anywhere. He works frequently at the farm, the arcade, the clinic, Lupin, and probably several other restaurants and businesses in town. He can also be found outside of town fighting monsters and the like. Basically anywhere. If you want him somewhere, I can make it happen.

Background: so this is 12 year old kakashi!! he is super uptight and also pretty blunt but he's got a heart of gold i swear. he was pulled from a pretty traumatic canon point so i guess he's going to have to deal with that at...some point...

Abilities: he can do ninja stuff! breathe fire, blow wind really hard, walk on surfaces that aren't normally walkable on, the usual. oh and he's great at survival stuff which should come in handy for the first week or so of the month.

Plans: I WANT THIS IDIOT BRAT TO EXPERIENCE FRIENDSHIP that's pretty much my primary goal at the moment, let him make friends (and enemies???) and learn what it's like to be not in the middle of a war.

POST MARCH 11: okay hear me out, i kinda want kakashi to be in some kind of street gang for kids, just troublemakers makin' trouble, any other younger characters interested in this??

Also YES, once Toph starts regaining a bit of her powers she will probably actively seek out the REBELLIOUS STREET GANG OF KIDS. Prior to that she would be interested but very blind and I haven't totally decided yet what her full AU story is.

Plans: gojo needs friends!! i know this is a tall order bc he's really annoying but he does his best, honest. for the event i think i will have him working at a little shop selling trinkets bc he loves shit like that.

"really annoying" is just the kind of challenge for a protag, and yu usually finds it weirdly endearing. i'd love to see how he and gojo get along, either during the event or outside of it

Anything Else?: Nice to meet you!! I'm Jin and in an EST timezone. I'm full work from home, so I'm generally around... tho my typical work day lasts anywhere between 10 to 11 hours 12 hours if shit hit the fan so tags usually come in the evening. Day is spent reading/writing words (bad) so I look forward to reading/writing words (good)... My coworker-roommate sleeps on my couch all day, very envious of the life she leads (she is dog so it's allowed). I like Persona (mainly familiar with P3 however), Pokemon, Ace Attorney, Fire Emblem, and some other stuff!!

Crime: Negligence, but the terrible kind i.e. failure to do what even the average Joe would have done.

Background: Physical embodiment of "Nihilism: Nothing matters (existential dread) vs Nothing matters (fuck it we ball)." High school student who drifts through life and gets roped into others' shenanigans no matter how stupid they might be. His idgaf attitude and flagrant disregard for his own well-being can be alarming at times but!! He's genuinely quite nice so surely that counts for something... Minato def comes off as someone super unmotivated but little do you know he's juggling 500 different things because people asked him for help and... he can't think of any reasons to say no... It's less him being a people pleaser and more that he personally doesn't see any reason to say no. He's also a Wildcard Persona char which means he is walking around with several brain demons too.

Abilities: the Persona brain demons. He has 10 of them and they range from huge + somewhat concerning-looking to a tiny pixie. He's good with a sword too!

Plans:

Blackout: Minato will help out wherever he can! He has obtained a bunch of firewood from helping clear out someone's lawn in the February TDM. He doesn't have any survivalist skills but won't seem too fussed about the situation. It might not seem like it but any advice will be super appreciated by him, and he's pretty keen on returning favors. You scratch my back I'll scratch yours etc etc

Event: Nothing in particular..... I don't have any extensive ideas re: what his event-based self would be, but if you'd like him as part of your char's Aldrip-canon(?????) let me know!

Misc: If we tagged on the February TDM I'm happy to keep any CR that came out of it. We can definitely retcon things though if you'd like! I'm not 100% sure yet whether I'll have an open log this month, but I can absolutely drum up a reason for Minato to be anywhere.

Re: current plans, he'll be helping Sha-Ming bonobos with learning more about Aldrip's Fauna! But in general he's new, so Minato will mainly be settling in... Maybe taking up getting dragged into 50 part-time jobs/activities...

How can you run into my character? Literally anywhere!! Some easy spots would probably be the inn since he lives there, and maybe Astralin's farm?? He likes critters... Minato isn't really adventurous necessarily but he's around. 100% vibing.

Anything Else?: Hey guys! My name's Vi, I'm in my mid 20s, I'm currently going through a career transition but I used to work in finance. Activism and original writing are big parts of my life and I talk about them sometimes. My main fandoms are Nier, Final Fantasy (7 in particular), Metal Gear, Undertale/Deltarune, Disco Elysium, Mr. Robot and so much more. I'm a big Gamer TM, from mainstream ones to indie, niche works, so if it's out there I've probably played it.

Character: Sha-Ming
Canon: Gnosia, a werewolf/mafia style single player game adjacent to the visual novel genre!

Crime: Escaping/running away from his shithole of a home planet, Arsla.

Background: Oh boy. Sha-Ming is...A Guy. He'll say anything for any reason. Annoying, foul mouthed, always joking, an asshole, rebellious, a huge clown all in all. He's also uh, notably hypersexual and an incorrigible flirt (and unfortunately, canonically bi/pansexual so nobody is spared, really) -- naturally, your character will not be dealing with this unless I know it's fine, but yeah.

Despite all of this, he's remarkably good at not standing out. He never wants to be the center of attention, he's very up for being the good-for-nothing side character that has nothing to do with the plot, thank you! Survival is his priority. If there's a way to live, he's going to find it, even if he has to forfeit his nonexistent pride/dignity to make it happen. However, at his core, he is actually... a good guy? With some pretty serious issues that he does not want to reveal or talk about in any capacity. Sha-Ming was socialized amongst and as an animal, and he unironically struggles to connect with and understand human conventions as a result.

Deep down, he's genuinely quite compassionate and kind, but his inability to be emotionally vulnerable let alone trust others really precedes him. He resigns himself to being extremely lonely because he thinks it's the only way he can keep himself safe, but he can't help but care for others regardless even if he really wants to pretend like he doesn't.

Abilities: Absolutely none lmaooooo. For the first time in my life, I'm playing some guy with completely normal physiology. As for like, noteworthy skills... Sha-Ming IS a survivalist, and he did grow up somewhere where resources were notably scarce. This means he has the capacity to be very useful on this front -- but only if you manage to get him to be, because he's very keen on hiding this part of himself.

Plans: SO. Sha-Ming, surprisingly, goes onto become one of the most famous zoologists and scientists in the galaxy in his canon. I want to work towards this here and have him get involved with bestiary and ecology research in particular. This is going to be a longterm goal -- he's got memori3s helping him out already, but if anyone else wants to get involved, let me know! And if your character isn't human/has animalistic qualities, I'd love to do something, as he'd take an interest in them and we could open up some dialogues about it.

That aside, positive and negative CR alike is absolutely good with me. I'd love for him to develop actual attachments and hate himself for it, especially platonic and familial ones, but he's also so annoying and SUCH an asshole that negative CR is going to be inevitable. Your character is absolutely free to hate him, whack him over the head, shittalk him, throw rocks, the whole gamut. He sucks! Go for it.

Also, I love the idea of him third wheeling people. If you need a third wheel to make extremely out of pocket commentary he's your guy.

How can you run into my character? Right now, he's bumming it out at the inn. He and memori3s are neighbors. Due to that horribly high stealth stat of his, he's shockingly hard to come by and good at blending in/hiding, but that won't stop me. He'll likely be at the farm often and wherever nature takes him.

Crime: Loitering.

Background: Orphan turned occult teen soldier weaponized by a corporation (for like 6 months to a year it wasn't that long) turned homeless delinquent. Pretty disillusioned about a lot of stuff, but in expi he's been slowly working on like.... caring. I guess. It's complicated.

He's dry and blunt but usually means pretty well when he feels like it. Just teenager things.

Abilities: He's got a Persona! It's basically a big monster that also IS him?? His name is Castor and he looks like a man riding a skeleton horse with one leg and his one skill is smashing things.

Plans: I'm not that deep. My sort of low-key internal storyline for him in game is like.... getting a chance to actually have friends and enjoy that without the pressure of "I DESERVE TO DIE", but he's also a suspicious fuck about this place and whatever it actually is and also half the chosen who keep BLOWING SHIT UP AND BEING A PAIN IN THE ASS.

I am giving Shinjiro a super messy AU life! Which means I am down for any and all shenanigans! However you want to know him or have known him, let me know! He'll be LARPing as a guy working on the farm, primarily as a farrier. Shoeing horses, clipping goat hooves, swearing at the livestock, petting the lambs lil heads, etc.

So far joking around on plurk has led to the following possibilities:
Mitsuru: an ex. Things ended amicably.
Toph: also a juvenile delinquent. Became pals when people tried to reform them.
Akechi: childhood rival turned grown up rival. That combo of long history and never-quite-friendship. When someone important to you is someone you don't like.
Kotetsu: wants to adopt him after whatever happened to his parents. Shinjiro thinks he's doing just fine on his own.
Yu: ????? Idk childhood friends?? Both rescue cats???

How can you run into my character? Shinjiro cooks, so he hits up the market pretty regularly! He also takes a lot of monster hunting jobs because he's good at hitting things with an axe, so getting paid for that is good. He's also started helping out at the farm a little??? He's hard to find on the network, admittedly, because he doesn't feel like he has much worth saying to a lot of people, but i'm totally down with inbox or log things. Jut let me know what vibe you're into and I'm down!!

Anything Else?: What up, friends!! I've just come back to RP after a long absence. I work as a vet tech and my plurk does frequently involve my bellyaching about my job, but feel free to add me if you like, I also talk RP there.

Character: Miller
Canon: Metro
Canon Point: Metro Exodus - Novosibirsk

Crime: Betrayal of the Spartan Order. This crime is subjective enough that it can be argued to be true... or not, depending on how you look at it.

Background: Miller is from 2035 post-apocalyptic Moscow. The whole world was sent into a nuclear winter in 2013. In Moscow, survivors were forced to flee into the metro system under the city. The Metro evolved into its own civilization that is divided by numerous factions, ranging from the Order which Miller is the leader of, to the Reds and the Nazis, to Hansa which exerts a governing power over the rest. Miller was part of the spetsnaz GRU pre-Armageddon, so after he formed the Spartan Order, most of the rangers still refer to him as "Colonel." The rangers are a neutral group in the Metro that try to protect civilian life. Miller was recently forced to leave his position because his son-in-law Artyom and daughter Anna caused a stir with Hansa and he has been traveling across irradiated Russia by train since. This mission eventually evolved into trying to find a place that would be safe for his family and his special operations crew to live normal lives.

Abilities: Miller is basically a normal guy with a lot of military and survival experience. Living in the Metro is hard enough as it is if you never leave, and as a veteran Stalker (mercenary that frequents the irradiated surface), he's faced off against countless environmental dangers and mutants alike. He lost his legs below the knee in a battle with the Reds, but isn't slowed down by it much after having prosthetics installed.

Plans: As for what Miller wants, it's to collaborate with the other Chosen to gather as much information as he can about the Council and their whole situation! Sooner or later, he may be hit with a huge dose of reality, but for now, he's pretty much refusing to accept things as they are. As for me, I'd love CR that doesn't take him too seriously, other characters to bond over their catastrophic home worlds with, and characters he could start developing trust with while working together. Miller is a pretty stoic dude, but he does have a soft spot for kids, so I always enjoy exploring that CR, too.

In relation to his accused crime, it will definitely be important for Miller to reckon with his demons rather than continue to angrily cast them aside. Although he'll reject it, deep down, part of him will feel guilt about the accusation because other than his daughter, he cares about the Order more than anything and feels terrible about missteps he's made along the way. So, I'm hoping to steer him onto that path in game.

I absolutely loved (and am still loving) all of my threads from the TDM, so I'm keen to keep those as game canon so long as y'all are down! But we can also ret-con and redo if there's something you'd rather change.

I feel like I've written a novel already, so I don't want to go on and on, but just to give a few details on the events:

During the blackout, he'll help out as much as he can. Not having electronics or light is not novel to him, so he'll immediately start trying to organize with anyone he knows to go after the Ketsorans and when that obviously doesn't pan out, will focus on the lighting and temperature issue.

For the event, I'm very excited about this!! Miller will be a bit of a jack of all trades, but mainly-- hunting, monster culling, and helping with construction or any other hard labor. However, for the tl;dr, he's just a simple farmer who's family turned their back on nobility. He was set to be a prince, and his estranged family considers him a prodigy but he hates it!! But yeah, he was kidnapped and tortured as a young adult, and was rescued by his two partners. Then after he returned home, war broke out, and he was used as a healer in the war. Then war breaks out again in modern times and he's just tired of war man.

Personality wise, Astralin is overall a nice dude. Maybe a bit too nice at times. He really cares about people he's friends with, and he likes to take care of people. Basically likes to see the good in every one etc etc. He's also peak Dad. He has 4 kids with his two partners so acts like a Dad pretty often.

Abilities:
- Spirit Magic: He has the ability to take raw energy, and convert it into magic disks that he can throw. These disks can immediately vaporize his target, and basically cause a lot of destruction in his wake. He tries not to use this ability as much, as it uses quite a bit of energy and it's overpowered. It's basically nuclear powers. (Nerf: Maybe his disks can just simply burn things instead of vaporizing them.)

- Scythe Proficiency: His main weapon is a scythe. He can move around quickly, and do aerobic flips with his scythe to perform his attacks. There's a lot of spinning, and flipping involved with his scythe, so he has fun with it. There's also a weightless enchantment on the scythe to make it easy to move around with.

- Ice magic: Astralin can summon icicle spears with his ice magic, and use it as a throwing weapon. He can also conjure up an ice shield to protect himself or someone else if they're in trouble. General ice abilities, like diamond dust and ice spears. He has a creationism ability with his ice magic. He's able to create simple things, such as vases, flowers, ice sculptures, chairs, furniture and what have you. Just simple things like that. He is also able to preserve food and flowers by infusing his ice magic into those items.

- Restorative Magic: Astralin can bring individuals back from the brink of death, but at the cost of his own energy. He can use lesser healing spells. (Nerf in Expiation: can heal wounds, fractures and broken bones.)

- Monster transformation: What it says in the tin. Him and his brother can turn into an eldritch knight and dragon, but only when they're close to each other. (Unavailable in Expiation)

Plans: I don't have any solid plans as of yet, but I do want his memories to return via rewards. He's so frustrated that he can't remember anyone, and it's made him feel really guilty. But I would love for him to have friends, or CR he can be a Dad to.

As for the event, his AU would be a florist in the flowershop! I would also love for one of the younger characters in Expi to be one of his kids. He is very Dad like, after all.

How can you run into my character? Astralin is usually at the farm, now that he's back. He's trying to familiarize himself with the farm again, and the hot spring since he is the one that built both. If he's not at the farm, or hot spring, he's usually in Aldrip, feeding and luring stray cats onto his farm lmao. Sometimes at the tavern if he doesn't want to cook.

Plans: To start with I'm looking for Sandry to meet people! She's very outgoing so it shouldn't be too hard to scheme a way for our characters to meet. She will also be bothering people she met on the TDM!

How can you run into my character? Sandry has a job! She's working at a tailor shop but it's a little expensive and not your everyday place. Most tailors use sewing machines but not Sandry! So she found a place that does hand sewing. Did you know hand sewing is a lot of work? That's why it's expensive.

Abilities: The Echo is really the only ability that is necessary to mention here as it allows Yuja to experience the memories of others as if she is experiencing them herself. Granted, this is an opt-in/plan-to-have-it-happen kind of deal.

Plans: Honestly, I'm kind of stuck for ideas. Beyond Yuja having no memories of her childhood (like AU memories) and being adopted and raised by someone in Aldrip I'm not sure what to do with her. Adventure is a part of her being, it is quite literally intrinsic to her soul.

I guess she could just be a flighty bum about keeping a single job and just does whatever little thing ppl need done, like she does now.

But anyway, I guess if anyone wants an adopted lizard daughter I'd be down for that.

How can you run into my character? Yuja's typical day is just being out and about doing whatever catches her fancy. Sometimes it's hunting or fishing (especially now that the weather is warmer), sometimes it's just riding her chocobo around, and sometimes she's helping people do little jobs or chores. Basically, you can find her anywhere.

Background: Elidibus (real name: Themis) is a kind and cheerful young immortal who volunteered to sacrifice his life for his people in a time of world-ending crisis. Suffice it to say, it fucked him up irrevocably, and he didn't have a personality or much in the way of memories for a while there. Then the world got smashed into 14 pieces, and all its people divided with it... oops. He later gets killed for his trouble some 12,000 years later after deciding to put it all back together at the cost of many, many mortal lives, thus pitting him against any mortals who might stand up to his attempt to reclaim the past.

(He's better now. Mostly.)

His job is/was essentially mediating conflicts and being the arbiter of justice, a position he was elevated to by his peers, hence the crime being what it is -- it's basically saying he sucks at his job.

Abilities: Creation magic is a common ability among his people, although here, his creations need to be charged with aether periodically to remain intact. Creations can include inanimate objects or creatures without souls, like familiars and animals of all sizes. He's also adept at various types of magic besides that, including teleportation, levitation, and containment magic, the lattermost of which he learned off of Erichthonios.

Plans: I'd like to continue him forging connections with others -- he does have a motive, but it's a good-intentioned one! He wants to basically network to make sure he can account for the needs and desires of everyone where possible, and perhaps advocate for them to the Council if he can. It's optimism, ultimately, him believing the best in people, yet he's also not naive enough to believe a group of people like this will accept him without question. Still, he's trying!

How can you run into my character? Elidibus doesn't really have a job, though he might volunteer to help out at various stores and stuff just to have the money put aside in case of emergency. There's also rebuilding his and Erichthonios's house to consider, and necessary errands like shopping... stuff he's gotten better at over time. He's essentially re-learning how to people, and has mostly gotten it down now. Maybe occasionally in the library? idk lol

My long term plans for Aerith are giving her the opportunity to make friends and live her life. To help eliminate that aimlessness her Cetran history gives her. She needs it!!

March 11th plotting: In her native to Aldrip AU, Aerith is a singer. She performs at bars, parties, etc. All her music is written by her! She can also dance, but singing is how she makes her coin. She wants to leave Aldrip eventually but can't muster up the courage to do it. Wonder why, hmm.

In Expiation, he's a lot friendlier in general, in due to having a lot of friends and stuff, but he can sometimes have an attitude still. Some angst too regarding his powers, but he's trying to get over it.

Not yet a child soldier, haven't gotten to that canon point. ONE DAY THOUGH.

Abilities: Uncontrollable optic blasts from his eyes, unfortunately not lasers. u_u still, pew pew. He keeps them semi-controlled with his sunglasses, unfortunately doesn't have the mega cool visor that's definitely 100% cool.

Plans: Be friends with Scott!! Or bully him, that's cool. Let him be grumpy at adults and slowly warm up to them, because he's hella salty that all of his favorite adults are gone. Talk about weird powers or whatever, he's here for it, especially if you can't control it. For the memory loss event, he's going to be some orphan kid that is the apprentice of the sandwich shop because that's X-Men enough, except without all the child soldering! If you want to plot some AU backstory together, I'm cool with it! He's probably just going to have that boy next door energy, especially with the power loss.

Background: Everyone say hello to everyone's favorite slab-of-a-sword wielding JRPG protagonist (circa 1997)! Remake/Rebirth means he has a fresh coat of paint, but let's get the simple stuff out of the way first: ex-military, current sword arm for hire, Cloud Strife is a pragmatic and cold-seeming man who not-so-subtly hides his heart of gold under a cynical, standoffish shell. Pulled into the eco-terrorist group Avalanche, Cloud's engagements with his former employer, Shinra, a corpro-state draining the planet of life to sell its energy as a commodity, spark a brand new conflict and a cross-the-planet cat and mouse game. Behind him: the ever-pursuing Shinra Electric Power Company. Ahead of him: an old long-thought-dead nemesis by the name of Sephiroth. You've probably heard of him.

Abilities: Cloud is infused with the literal processed life-blood of his world, which makes him, effectively, superhuman: Cloud is strong (despite what his build might fool you into thinking), fast, and tough, and a daring swordsman to boot. What he lacks for subtlety and grace he makes up for in a keen mercenary instinct and the Buster Sword, which he's bringing with him from home. Additionally, Cloud has two Materia (magic rocks that grant you spells and other nifty abilities), of the Fire and Lightning variants.

Plans: I'm not exactly a planner, but I'd love to explore Cloud's more honest side - it's easy for him to be caught up in the snarking, but the fact that is he's a hero through and through, despite himself, and Expiation giving him a chance to explore... well, something like normality, which is something Cloud does not actually have that much experience in, especially not when it comes to forging an identity and lifestyle outside of a world-controlling system, instead of aligned with or opposed to it.
Re: March Event. Cloud's going to become a courier/deliveryman, but, yknow, in Aldrip, you kind of have to have a bit of jack-of-all trades mentality about you. He might have his own Chocobo. I'll need to figure out more details as I go.


How can you run into my character? After the March Event, it will probably be fairly easy to find Cloud doing... basically anything and everything. The mercenary lifestyle suits him just fine, so he'll pick up small odd jobs to make ends meet or help out (though obviously, combat is his preference). He's an RPG protagonist, cause a small amount of trouble and he's bound to show up regardless.

Background: Dead widow whose brother got himself turned into a catspaw for his country to create an empire, and then got accused of regicide/treason once he was no longer useful. Ethlyn and her husband died in an effort to reinforce him when he was attempting to get back home to clear his name.

She was raised as a noblewoman by a Responsible Noble, and also lost her mother at a young age and had to become the lady of the household, so she's got an overdeveloped sense of responsibility. She's also a battlefield healer by trade so she's at home in dangerous situations and harsh conditions, and also doesn't care how embarrassed you are about being hurt or in pain, just get over here so she can fix it. Although she had to grow up fast, she still retains a little sister's instinct for mischief and taking the mickey out of people!

- Uncannily good at s'words (but she still practices a whole bunch cause that keeps you from spraining shit)

For the Event: Rather than being a medical practitioner, Ethlyn is going to believe herself to be a Respectable Widow, the kind who hosts events and is very nosy, in a well-intentioned way, and fussy over manners and standards. (Honestly not too dissimilar to how she is now.) She will keep seeing the Tyrfing, her family's ancestral sword, popping up. It will discomfit her greatly. But she will be more eager to look at that than the Gáe Bolg, the lance of her husband's lineage, which supposedly has a terrible curse that Real Ethlyn blames herself for passing on.

How can you run into my character? Busy busy busy. Ethlyn is one of those folks who thinks that if she isn't doing something then she's doing something wrong. This month, that is teaching folks how to live the medieval life! I will be putting up an open/mingle log for that after the weekend. It will involve things like how to make rushlights, preserve food, cook over fire and in woodfire ovens, and sew blankets to each other for extra warmth. For the sake of everyone's appetites I will skip some of the grodier aspects of "things your or your livestock's body makes that can be put to infinite chemical uses" since we're trying to survive winter, not dye wool or make detergent.

When Memory Loss happens, though, she will be doing her thing but without any inkling that she's a medical practitioner, unless you get hurt right in front of her and she's able to use muscle memory. And you know, freaking out over the sight of ancestral weapons. She will make the choice to start "collecting" memories once she realizes those memories include her kids.

Crime: Deception

Background: Claude is a young man with big dreams, the newly appointed Duke of the Leicester Alliance after his grandfather's death, and while he attended school hoping only to strengthen his bonds with his fellow classmates, found himself thrown into the task of keeping the Alliance neutral as he secretly prepares for war. Secretly, Claude is actually the Prince of a different country entirely and, after facing a lifetime of discrimination due to his biracial identity, fled to Fodlan to experience the other half of his bloodline and to pursue his dream of ending racial discrimination. Claude himself is deceptively flippant and cheerful, with a lust for life and a love for parties and feasts. Deep down, he's an ambitious, determined schemer willing to do anything to achieve his goals. Deeper down than that... he'd really just like some friends.

Abilities: Politicking, organization, some minor magical abilities (if you want a piddly little wind or a tiny heal, he's your man, but it's not much), wyvern-riding, poison-making, and archery are his primary skills.

Plans: For the event, I'm open to brainstorming our characters having a shared history together! I still need to ask the mods, but as being an ~outsider is important to Claude's character, I'm going to see if he can have a backstory that either involves having been born in a different village and making his way to Aldrip, or perhaps going off to find his fortune, failing, and winding back in Aldrip again, but I'm not married to those ideas! If you'd like to do anything with that, hit me up and we can have some fun!

Otherwise, I'd love for Claude to make some new CR and strengthen old bonds. I've been out of the groove for a while due to RL cropping up (and it will continue to crop up; unfortunately I have some very serious RL things going on), but I'd really love to get into some of these great webs of CR and make Claude feel like a part of the community here.

How can you run into my character? Claude runs the local apothecary (and can hook your character up with some marijuana if they want it; he does not personally consider it to be a drug any worse than alcohol!), so you can find him puttering around there, going out hunting and searching for ingredients, flying his wyvern, or just going about his business around town! He's a colossal busybody and likes rubbing elbows with the rest of the merchants, so he's easy to spot there. He's also close with a few people who are a part of the medical crew, and will often stop by with tea to say hello, or to drop off medicinal herbs for them to use.

For the power outage, Claude is from a medieval background, and is very used to not having electricity. He'll be glad to share the knowledge that he has, or share a fire.

Ethlyn is going to be Respectable Town Widow who's a well-intentioned busybody totally different to what she's like now so I can see her having helped Claude find his feet and "introduced" him to the town! Possibly in a mildly unhelpful or condescending way.

Before event, I'm also gonna toss up a mingle log (after weekend) for Ethlyn and the medievals help the rest of these soft modern folk! Would Claude like to help her with that effort?

Canon Point: They met the guy they’d been trying to track down for a few hundred years, and then got dropped into Aldrip. They’re actually interested in learning about themself now, but they’re still perfectly willing to try to murder people.

Crime: Murder.

Background: Avalon has spent their entire existence trying to fill an internal void that they don’t understand. They started out trying to understand themself through other people, and when that didn’t work they made a purpose out of murder. They’ve recently learned more about what they are, and are interested in exploring their species further. They have issues with their identity and think that they completely lack emotions. They haven’t yet decided to start mimicking the personality of anyone in Aldrip, so they’re basically acting like an emotionless husk at the moment.

Abilities: They can take on the physical form of any living thing that they can picture, and complete partial shifts like changing their hair color. They can manipulate their body to match anything that they’ve seen or can picture, and sense the emotions of people nearby. They can make telepathic contact with your character or take a PC’s physical form with OOC permission.

Plans: I don’t really have independent plans right now. For the player plot, Avalon will definitely notice the explosion. If it gives them something to do, they’ll help out in the aftermath. They’ve noticed the blackout (obviously), but won’t be hanging out in other affected places.

When the event starts, they’re going to have an interesting time of it. They’ll feel less empty with their new memories and new life. Without their powers, their body is almost human, but they’ll notice their lack of emotion and the fact that they don’t need to eat, sleep, breathe, etc. I’m thinking of having them work at the inn. Later in the event, they’ll be finding things that their victims used to own, and these will be what triggers their real memories.

Crime: Literally getting involved in Organized Crime

Background: Tsuna is the reluctant tenth generation heir to the Vongola mafia family. He was just supposed to be a guy, read a loser middle school student, but everyone else who was probably better at being a mafia boss than him either seriously beefed it or was an absolute dick, so he got the job. And well, sometimes the people who don't want to lead are the best for the job. But despite that, Tsuna's kind of cagey about those details, largely because, you know, mafia and all that.

But beyond that, he's your average shonen protagonist just trying to do his best. He's a bit clumsy and not the smartest, but he's got a lot of heart and is extremely loyal to his friends. Or do you need a straight man to react to your shenanigans? Although he's also a trouble magnet. He doesn't ask for chaos, it just follows him home.

Abilities: Dying Will - Manifesting as bright orange flames, Tsuna is able to use Dying Will to fight and fly. He enters into a specific mode known as Hyper Dying Will mode which gives him a bit of extra focus as he uses his power to it's full extent. His flames, in particular, are Sky Flames, which have the power of Harmonization.

Hyper Intuition - While I don't usually play this up, Tsuna has a Hyper Intuition that usually allows him to pick up on lies, vibes, and can see through illusions.

Plans:
-Tsuna has Sky Flames that he can use to provide some warmth with. They are flames are Harmony, so they're good at bringing people together.

-Tsuna's definitely going to have some transportation issues with walking through doors. If you want him to walk in to somewhere he shouldn't, there's an option.

-For AU stuff, we got options. We can have Mafia Boss/Ten Years Later!Tsuna, we have beginning of canon!Tsuna, we got Earth Flame!Tsuna. There's options and I'd love to play around with that.

How can you run into my character? Tsuna's around. He's usually trying to fix up his house and not cause too much trouble. He's also interested in the diplomatic side of things.

Anything Else?: I am a very tired nonprofit worker who has a MS and a BA. I describe myself as a scientist with the heart of a writer. I have conspiracy theories written about me at work about what I moonlight as. Uh. I wax on about Genshin Impact, Star Trek, Devilman, The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, MDZS, various writers I am into, various Indie games I play (see: Dredge), etc. I will talk for ages about death rites, rituals, mythology, birds, the deep sea, and space. I am typically referred to as a cryptid who lives in some kind of wetland. Fun fact: I have various genetic abnormalities in wild parts of my body, like extremely undocumented eye abnormalities.

Crime: Because I am an asshole? Rolling in the Sacred Sands of Vulcan without taking your Captain out to dinner first. iykyk.

Background: Spock is a unique individual, in that he is the only half-Vulcan/half-Human he knows. He has never encountered another, though he knows they likely exist. Between two worlds and wildly disparate cultures from birth, Spock grew up very lonely. Due to the harms dealt to him in his childhood, he threw himself into logic wholeheartedly and thus suppressed his Human half. As he got older, he found he could not follow or abide by his father's wishes and joined Starfleet due to his immense passion for science and his irrepressible curiosity. He did very well and made quite a name for himself, eventually reaching the position of First Officer and Chief Science Officer on the flagship Enterprise.

Spock looks like your typical Vulcan on the outside and presents like one (e.g., he keeps a flat affect and tone), but he is wildly witty and dry when inspired. This is especially true as the series goes on. He is occasionally petty, prone to brooding, and stubborn to an absolute fault. He takes a long time to warm up to people in any real capacity, but he isn't (usually) rude and is inclined toward self-sacrifice. When presented with a problem, he's always determined to find a solution - and he's kind of a workaholic. He is also very sensitive and empathetic underneath all that. His emotions are very strong and very deep. It's fine, really.

Abilities:

➤ Touch Telepathy: I will have a permissions post about this up later (and it will be available from the Taken List), but Spock is able to pick up surface thoughts and feelings by making direct skin-to-skin contact. He can also send along psychic suggestion. It is important to note that Spock avoids touching people whenever possible and has very strong ethics around contact with others. If a person makes contact with him, he typically reinforces his own mental shields to keep their thoughts/feelings out. Particularly sensitive individuals (i.e., not psi-null individuals) might be able to get a zing of his own abilities. He can engage also in what is called a mind meld, which allows him to figuratively "meld" the minds of two individuals together. It's a great way to transfer huge amounts of information, memories, etc. He will not do that casually as it is considered pretty fucking intimate, but he will do so in situations that call for it with the other party's consent.

➤ Vulcan Physiological Stuff: Spock, as a half-Vulcan, has inherited a lot of their traits. As such, his senses are much more finely tuned than a Human's. He is able hear better, smell better, etc. He is also roughly three times stronger than a Human, has denser bones, and has better reflexes. Vulcans come from a desert world with a thin atmosphere and higher gravity, after all.

➤ Eidetic Memory: He has perfect recall, though it is never specified for how long exactly. He can memorize and reproduce visual information with extreme accuracy. He is very useful if you need to know very precise details of something you encountered? Give him your grocery list and he'll be able to tell you what it was days later.

➤ General Knowledge: Spock is a scientist who has many, varied skills. He knows a lot about the following: computers, general engineering, general electronics, botany, various literature, various forms of music/instruments, etc. He is incredible with odds, can calculate percentages down to the smallest digits, and can throw around theories with the best of them.

Plans: I am new! So, I am quite literally open to many things. However, I am very specifically open to individuals who would be interested in the sciences, various forms of classical Earth literature, various forms of martial artistry (as Spock knows more than a few!), and electronics. Spock is going be scanning any number of things in the upcoming days, taking data, and so on. He will also likely try to fiddle with the electronics, find alternative sources of power, and assist those who seem to be having a problem roughing it without modern conveniences.

As for the AU: Spock would (naturally) be a science professor. He can act as the weird mentor/reluctant youth counselor for those who seek him out, because Spock is also a menace who gets himself into trouble frequently. He can teach day and night classes because he doesn't seem to need to sleep for some reason? He also seems to moonlight as many things and has some really wild hobbies (e.g., making longwave radios, odd machines in general, coding stuff, playing frankly bonkers chess, practicing martial arts???).

Given that he has experienced all sorts of weird shit akin to this before, he will probably be pretty quick to start trying to puzzle it out when clues start appearing. He is a scientist, after all. He's naturally curious and doesn't just blindly accept reality.

How can you run into my character? Spock is a diplomat's son and so will be looking at relations, trying to tidy up his own living space, studying the local flora/fauna, and likely providing assistance wherever he can. He's a good boy. He can also be found very deeply meditating in his personal quarters... Very deeply.
