INTRO MEME
Welcome to Expiation and come on down! We're thrilled to have you here! This intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

JULY EVENT SUMMARY
DATABREACH
The system has always been unstable, but in early July, that instability reaches a tipping point. Glitches, which have long since been part of the world of Expiation, become more severe and more difficult to ignore, affecting player characters in addition to the setting itself. These glitches can manifest in many ways, including the following ideas:
- Your character may, for small periods of time (ie several hours, probably up to a day or so), be glitched into an “alternate” version of themselves. These can be canon alternates (ie a bad ending, alternate timeline, mirrorverse, etc version of them) or can be any sort of AU made up by you. We encourage you to get creative with this!
- Your character may be affected for short periods of time by previous in-game events. See the EVENTS tag in the log community for ideas.
- Your character may be subject to the more “typical” glitch effects that the setting of Expiation has experienced in the past. Disappearing and reappearing, losing parts of themselves (was their hair always so pale? Or maybe their arm has gone missing? etc!)
They may also lose memories, items, powers, or abilities for various lengths of time.
These are just suggestions! If you have other ideas for how these “glitches” could manifest for your character, we encourage you to run wild with them.
GNOSIA INFECTION PLAYER PLOT
During the third week of July, the instability in the system becomes catastrophic, resulting in a cascading series of failures that ultimately releases a Gnosia infection that can affect any number of characters. This event will be opt-in. You can find further information on the Gnosia infection plot here!
The Gnosia infection will last for one week, but the glitches will continue for the foreseeable future.

Character: Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler
Canon: X-Men Evolution
Canon Point: Post-"Cajun Spice"
Crime: Matricide: the murder of Mystique, who he sees as his biological mother. He's not actually the one who did it!
Background: Kurt's a teenage mutant who is part of the X-Men in the early 2000's in his original home world. His mutation not only gives him powers, it also made him blue, fuzzy and devil-like. While he's proud of that form to an extent, he's also fearful and insecure about how the general public perceives him, so he wears an image inducer which uses hologram technology to make him look like a normal human. He's generally very friendly and overly eager to fit in/seem cool, with a very goofy sense of humor and loads of outdated slang.
Abilities: He's a teleporter! He can crawl on walls and ceilings! He has a prehensile tail! He can also do flips and shit
Plans: Generally I want to keep building up CR with Kurt (positive and negative both possible) and have him grow and develop more over time. One short-term goal is definitely to get him to go fully public about his blue self and stop hiding with the image inducer.
As for this month's event and glitches?
- For the glitch stuff, I am contemplating a number of options to possibly play with! The most likely one, which just came to mind, would be one that turns Kurt into an actual human, temporarily depriving him of his true blue form as well as his powers. And like others, I am contemplating turning him into other versions of himself, though I'm not definite about it and which ones. Possibilities include versions from the comics, 90s/'97 series, Wolverine and the X-Men and the two film versions. I've also thought about turning him into a kid, or an AU where he joined the Brotherhood instead of the X-Men. Maybe a version based on one of X-Men's many dystopian futures? There's many possibilities I'm sorting through, and I take suggestions too!
- In terms of player stuff, he should be joining in on Dungeons & Dragons as well as the desert exploration!
- And for the Gnosia plot, I'm being cruel and letting Kurt go Gnosia. He will be one of the more honorable ones and also one who is willing to work on a team. He will convince himself that killing is for the best for his victims and that he is freeing their souls or some such. I'm thinking of using this as a chance to tap into a religious side of this Kurt; feeling that only God can judge people for their sins, he'll free them from Expiation by sending them straight to the afterlife!
How can you run into my character? He lives at Scott's house and is often in his real form there. Out in public, he's usually disguised as a normal human, but he also goes blue when patrolling around rooftops for any signs of threats to stop. He can be found hanging around various parts of the city, especially the arcade.

So Hiei knows Scott because he muddled in him sticking his arm in a bonfire and Hiei, of course, was annoyed that he cared enough to try and stop him. I feel like he'd eventually run in to Kurt on a rooftop and not blink an eye about him being blue, being a three-eyed demon and all..
