Welcome to Expiation! We're thrilled to have you here, new and old players alike. Please note that this intro entry serves additionally as a CR meme, so you are free to use it to say hello, tell us a bit about yourself, talk about your character, and potential plans for the game.

As a reminder, Expiation runs on bi-monthly events. Since the game has just opened in February, we want to give players and characters some time to settle into the area and get to know other characters as well. Please note that all players / characters accepted in February are exempt from the February AC.

Anything Else?: UM. I'm really into all things horror, but the games I'm playing are FF14, DJ MAX, Tales of Arise, Persona, Somnium Files, Dark and Darker... I also play League of Legends. I'm not really good at these sort of things. I do play a lot of video games though! In my spare time, I'm an avid cooker. So I'll be happy to share my recipes on plurk.

When I'm not gaming, or rping, I'm usually at work, lol. I work as a caregiver for people with intellectual disabilities, so sometimes you'll hear me talking about that!

Character: Rin Nesidri
Canon: Original Character
Canon Point: During the Ori War

Crime: High Treason against Lady Demetria "Nyx" Xydis.

Background: Rin is an orphan who was taken in by her two dads, Davil and Castien. They raised her in an underground organization 'Crimson', and basically taught her how to defend herself but also work in the black markets. She's a trained fighter with grey morals, but she's as happy as can be despite a whole ass war going on and seeing most of her comrades die. She got tired of not being able to heal, so she went head first into doing dangerous missions during the war. Her most dangerous one was trying to assassinate Demetria, but that didn't go too well.

Abilities: Rin is a katana user, and is agile with it. She can do aerobatic flips and overall just cool moves with her katana. She can also fuse lightning magic into her weapon!

Per the expiation mods requests, at the moment, she is only able to use her lightning magic, and only a single fire ability, which is basically just lighting her hand on fire to produce light.

Plans: I think getting her situated is the first thing. She wants to find out why her charge is what it is (duh), and why they sided with Demetria because she's a tyrant. BUT YEAH I just want her to dip her toes in first, and get CR. I'm not too picky with CR, as long as they don't mind her lack of intelligence, and the fact that she doesn't THINK before she acts. But let's see

- Food buddies. She loves to eat more than drink, so having someone that can keep up with her appetite and love of spice is nice.
- Sparring pals. Rin will want to keep up with her fighting, whether it be with her sword, or her fists. She likes a good fight without the use of magic.
- Will be a good bodyguard for characters that need the protection.
- SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T USE THEIR BRAIN LIKE SHE DOES. They will get along great.

Anything Else?: hi, i'm peach! i work in localization. timezone is pst/gmt-8, usually tag in the evenings and catch up on weekends. i like meaty tags with details and fun introspection, and love to write! i like horror, video games, animanga, alice in wonderland, music, and coffee. some fandoms i love besides final fantasy are fire emblem: three houses, jujutsu kaisen, my hero academia, and kingdom hearts.

Crime: murder of a superior officer... which he'll absolutely believe, since it's technically true. but i also like the idea that it can sort of indicate how he feels about what happened with zack, too, where he feels kinda responsible. if he ever remembers, that is...

Background: local loser from wooded backlands pretends to be a cool soldier to get the girl he likes to notice him, gets a lot of people killed, and feels so bad about it that he invents an entirely new history for himself...yes, it's that guy: cloud strife, an 'ex-soldier first class' trying to be a mercenary who ends up getting roped into saving the planet. deep down he's just shy and awkward, a good-hearted kind of guy... but you have to get through like eight layers of pointed antisocial 'not interested' armor to get there.

he's a guy that's very heavily influenced by his past, though his version of it is very blurry and very untrue, especially at this canon point where he doesn't know much of anything. as evidenced in the game, he has headaches at times when someone brings up something from the past that he's avoided, or when he has flashes of memory/visions of stuff. he tends to keep people at a distance--or at least tries to, anyway, but despite the seemingly prickly exterior, he's a pretty kind friend and might not even charge you for his services if he likes you. (not that he'll admit it!)

Abilities: he can swing a big sword.

...and he's got some superhuman-esque abilities thanks to the mako, but nothing that stands out too much. he's apparently very good at dancing, somehow... in any case, his app has more info if needed!

Plans: no concrete plans at the moment! i really like character development, so i want to explore how cloud changes based on his interactions with others, and how that affects how he sees himself/his past/all that stuff... it would be neat to see him come to terms with the truth of his past (or die trying) but other than that, i'm really here for any and all CR! it'd also be cool to see him actually get close to someone or let people get close to him, rather.

Having a lot of feelings about his potentially interpreting his crime as being about Zack... my heart. :c I would love to play with Cloud given the opportunity, though! I have always had a soft spot for him, and while their personalities are wildly different, he and Balthier both have "pretending not to care while actually caring very deeply" in common. One uses stoicism and the other snark, but it's armor all the same!

Character: Mizuki Date
Canon: AI: The Somnium Files -nirvana Initiative-
Canon Point: (AInI spoilers) mid-confrontation at the stadium (but before its conclusion)

Crime: mass murder in the second degree.

Background: Mizuki was an orphaned child who was genetically experimented on and was later adopted by a father who didn't have time for her and a mother who couldn't handle her, and as a result, hated her. In short, she had a rough life growing up, culminating in a lot of anger and also superpowers from said experiments. Nowadays she is a police officer back in her world, in a special department called ABIS full of weirdos people who can see your dreams. You can read more about her in my app, which is ripe with spoilers if you care.

Abilities: She has superstrength and can run really fast and jump really high. Also, she can whack you with her cool metal pipe.

Plans: So currently she's having a really bad time! I went from "I am prepared to play as a lone-canon warrior" to "My only canon mate is the villain of the first game who also happens to be a doppleganger of her father figure." Also she thinks one of her ABIS buddies is dead.

She's a little difficult to start, but I'd like to work on having her open up to people, and also, I definitely plan on getting her bike back so that she can live her best biker girl life.

Also, she wants a girlboyfriend I guess. (I'm open to both/either.)

Crime: Treason! Poor Peter stands accused of betraying his father figure by getting him thrown in Nova jail. Not cool. Or maybe it is?

Background: Peter is your average space-kidnapped-in-his-teens ex-space pirate who is working on turning over a new leaf and going legit with his ragtag group of misfit friends. Sure, they are all former criminals whose lives were ruined by the Galactic War, but nobody's perfect, right? I will say, compared to MCU!Peter, game-Peter is a lot kinder and justice-driven than what you might expect. He'd leave you his number if he ever dented your car. I mean, he probably wouldn't have the money to pay for it, but he'd apologize and come up with a payment plan at least.

Abilities: Peter's abilities are all tech based. He's part alien, but all that means is he can use his cool guns that shoot ice, lightning, wind and lava. He also has jet boots and a cool visor and he's the weakest guy on his team but he doesn't let that stop him.

Plans: I want to get Peter situated, maybe have him start up some monster-hunting business or something along those lines... in the long run, anyway. (Maybe some run ins with the law.) In terms of CR, Peter is extremely gullible so I'm down for him to get betrayed or just be someone's obnoxious friend. He's used to antagonistic friendships! But I also want him to lean into his dad vibes (long story short, he recently discovered he has a daughter in canon) so really I'm open to any kind of CR.

Bonus points to anyone who wants to help him get caught up on his pop culture—he "left" Earth in the 80s so he doesn't know about cellphones, memes or modern music. Hair metal and synths are where it's at!

Anything Else?: Currently working as a nanny while also serving as a home caregiver for my mother, looking to use my health sciences/health information degree in the near future. I love video games, coffee, black cats and crochet. I'm a casual streamer and love using it to share vintage RPGs with people! Lifer fandoms include Final Fantasy, Shadow Hearts, Lunar, Persona, Castlevania, Nier and Dragon Age, but I love all kinds of things and will usually try anything once. Also rhythm games. I am about to lose my life to Theatrhythm Final Bar Line and I am HYPE.

Character: Balthier
Canon: Final Fantasy XII
Canon Point: Post-game, just before the epilogue, with a CRAU from Isle of Avalon.

Crime: Patricide.

Background: Balthier is a sky pirate with a flair for fashion and theatrics, who rather likes to make a habit of pointing out just how dashing he is while simultaneously claiming that he can't be bothered by getting involved in other people's business. Of course, while declaring loudly that he doesn't care, he's usually getting himself knee-deep in someone else's troubles for one reason or another. He'll deny it, but he's rather soft despite all his protesting. Though he wasn't always a pirate by trade, he has used sailing the skies of Ivalice to try and put distance between who he is now and who he once was, and in the process, got rather caught up in helping with a revolution that helped to free the kingdom of Dalmasca from occupation by his own homeland. Being a CRAU, he will have some memories from his year+ in Isle of Avalon, though at the moment they are completely obscured and will steadily return with time. More information at his app!

Abilities: Balthier is an expert pilot and engineer, in addition to being quite clever overall. He was something of an academic prodigy before he turned to piracy, though he doesn't care to talk about those days much. He has a short list of spells available to him that largely serve as support; his true combat prowess lies in his excellent marksmanship, and he's no slouch in close-quarters, either.

Plans: I am really looking forward to digging into some character work that I haven't had the chance to in the past! With his crime being listed as "patricide," Balthier is going to find himself forced to process the fact that his father is gone, as well as his role in making it happen. Their complex relationship has been one that has degraded over the course of years, but given that Balthier is very against talking about himself in any real fashion, as well as being against self-reflection, he's going to have to deal with a lot of unpleasant thoughts and feelings during his time here, and I love that for me.

I'm interested in all sorts of CR! At the moment, he's pretty irate about the current situation which means that for all his charm, he can be quite prickly, so I'm as interested in people to bicker with as I am friends. He's nosy and will be trying to find out absolutely everything he can about this place, and if your character is inclined to do the same, they're going to get along just great. Let's gossip. :>

Character: Dohalim il Qaras
Canon: Tales of Arise
Canon Point: Pelegion, following the brief timeskip/interlude there.

Crime: Negligence.

Background: A Renan hailing from Lenegis, Dohalim has always considered himself to be a musician and a poet rather than a politician of any sort, but nonetheless found himself in the position Lord of the realm of Elde Menancia with the expectation of participating in the Crown Contest, where the Renan Lords of each realm set out to see who could harness the most energy from the Dahnan slaves serving them. Though not initially as altruistic as many thought, he did take a different approach to his rule than most Renan Lords, and worked to promote coexistence between Renans and Dahnans. This had mixed results at best; on the surface, many people were happy with these changes and grateful for the opportunities it granted, while still others (mostly fellow Renans) resented him for not being the sort of Lord they had intended to serve, and remained unwilling to acknowledge Dahnans as anything even approaching equal. Of course, this all eventually backfired in both a grim and spectacular manner; countless Dahnans lost their lives because Dohalim neglected to consider what resentment might lead his countrymen to do. Since then, he has resigned from his position as Lord and set out to bring an end to the Crown Contest for good, joining the group of travelers that had been largely responsible for bringing the problems in Elde Menancia to light. Abilities: Dohalim is handy with astral artes, with his offensive artes being earth, plant and darkness oriented. He also has some useful healing and defensive artes up his sleeve. He plays a mean violin, recites poetry off-the-cuff (your mileage may vary on quality) and claims to be able to hear artifacts speaking. Whether or not this is literal remains to be seen. The world may never know. He is a weird dude.

Plans: Dohalim has some canon relationships to repair while he's here, and a lot of soul-searching to do. He also needs to figure out how to balance accountability with making a martyr of himself— he doesn't mean to do the latter, but he is dramatic af and it's kind of a lot. He has a lot of practical skills to learn! Money management, shopping, laundry, cooking (a work in progress), and countless others— he's been working on these for some time now while traveling, but there's still a long way to go, and actually being stationary somewhere for a time is going to present all new challenges.

CR-wise, I am here for everything! Friends, fellow nobles, musicians or other performers, art appreciators. I would also absolutely be down to alienate people with his utter lack of understanding regarding how normal people live, because he sure does not get it. Accidentally offending people while being totally oblivious is often his brand. For such a smart guy, he sure can be dumb. :') He's living life in the idiot-genius quantum zone for sure.

Some fandoms I'm into are Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Doctor Who (???), a lot of the Finals of Fantasies, Persona, TWEWY, Ace Attorney, and Mythic Quest. Character: The Doctor (12)
Canon: Doctor Who
Canon Point: Post Last Christmas

Crime: The Doctor has been charged with affecting the lives of others and spinning the wheel of their fate.

Background: Grumpy, blunt, pragmatic, chaotic, but always kind Time Lord that has lived a very, very long time. Self proclaimed idiot. This particular iteration of the Doctor looks and acts like your eccentric Scottish university professor or punk rock grandpa but is actually a lonely man that travels through space and time jumping from one adventure to the next. He's got a lot of blood on his hands, and thought at one point that he had been the cause of wiping out his entire race. Despite having done awful things, he's just trying to do the best he can for those around him with as little harm as possible.

It'll take a very long time to go through his background, but if you're interested, his wiki is here. His canon point finds him reuniting with Clara, his companion and Impossible Girl, and he may or may not be on the verge of a midlife crisis. So in other words he's totally fine and there's nothing to see here.

Abilities: His one claim to fame as a Time Lord is being able to regenerate, but guess what! He can't! Kidding, it's not the only thing he can do. A shortlist of some of his abilities are:

- MacGyver-ing technology into shockingly effective (most of the time) things!
- Not sleeping
- Playing the guitar exceptionally well
- A surprisingly capable fighter, highly proficient in Venusian aikido and sword fighting (particularly deadly with a spoon)
- Telepathic abilities; he's capable of reading minds (the caveat is that he has to be touching someone) and wiping memories. I'll never have either of these play in the game unless discussed with any player(s) involved and the mod. If you'd like to opt-out, you can do so here!

Since he's new he'll mostly be getting himself situated and getting to know other people!

I love seeing how the Doctor in his all weird, alienness interacts in any given scenario so give me all the CR and we'll see what sticks. Despite being a highly intelligent being, he is still a man and can be so incredibly dumb. Considering Twelve's personality, it's very likely he will bicker with people or rub some characters the wrong way because of his obtuseness; it could be cause of negative CR down the line, but I'd prefer if it wasn't hostile CR right off the bat because he does mean well and usually doesn't know when he's blundered.

He has a soft spot for kids (and that could probably extend to snot-nosed teenagers because when you're 2000+ years old, everyone is a child), and doesn't have a problem with most people so long as they don't think that killing is the solution to everything. He's got a nose for trouble (there's no way trouble always finds him because he 100% goes looking for it), so if you like conspiracy boards, missing out on social cues, poking your nose into places it doesn't belong, and harmless chaos, the Doctor is your man.

Hello Terra! I'm Amm and I apped Mizuki Date here. I was into Doctor Who since the Eccleston days, though I've sadly fallen off the ship since we lost Tennant. I DID happen to see Last Christmas though and caught bits of some other Capaldi eps, and I adore him.

Anything Else?: I'm drowning in Chinese fantasy dramas - I highly recommend The Untamed, Word of Honor, Immortal Samsara, Love Between Fairy and Devil and Ashes of Love. I also am a lover of Tolkien, Mercedes Lackey and Juliet Marillier as well as any writer that tackles mythology and rewrites it from a different perspective.

Aside from all of that, I love animals and take care of the wildlife around my home.

Character: Runyu
Canon: Ashes of Love
Canon Point: After Jin Mi agrees to marry him.

Crime: Fratricide and Patricide.

Background: Runyu used to be a gentle god of the night sky, but long term abuse and searing loss have turned him desperate. He is quite conniving and willing to play dirty to get what/who he wants. While he knows what he does is wrong, he can't help his dragon's hunger for revenge.

Abilities: } He can manipulate water and use it as a weapon and/or a defense.
} He can heal others if they possess the same base (water) as him. Healing becomes more complicated if they oppose his base (like fire for instance) but it isn't impossible.
} He aligns the stars nightly in Heaven. He knows all constellations and when they should appear.
} He can turn into a full dragon - likely a water dragon.
} He can put his energy/power into a weapon and strike out at a foe that way.
} He can create a near impenetrable barrier, though it requires a great use of his power.

Plans: I want him to understand his mistakes - his sins - and find his better self. That won't happen quickly or easily; he has quite a sturdy mask for those he meets.

I have a couple of options here for CR. Aerith tends to be a very kind and understanding person and I think there's a lot of potential for them to get to know one another and maybe be good for each other.

I also have Kisara who shares a crime of Fratricide with Runyu and that could be a strong connecting point.

(I'm canon blind, but what little I've found here really speaks to me and I'm incredibly intrigued.)

Canon Point: the end of the first game.

Crime: Betrayal and kidnapping of a loved one! Good luck getting him to show you his paper!

Background: For anyone not familiar with the canon, Joel is a middle-aged traumatized survivor of a fungal zombie apocalypse. Yes, fungus zombies. He's not nice, nor is he particularly good, and he's emotionally constipated as fuuuuuck. Check his app if you want all the deets.

Abilities: He's just a dude, albeit one who's good at surviving.

Plans: The biggest thing is that Joel is going to need to find someone(s) that he wants to look after/protect/team up with. Otherwise, I'm open to all kinds of ideas, positive, negative, whatever. Whether he's even capable of any kind of "redemption" is pretty up in the air tbh.

hi froda!! i'm amm, and i apped mizuki date here. i was super excited to see you on the tdm & also that you apped. i have been following the show and adore both games, and i remember thinking that mizuki is a lot like ellie which will clearly go very well for both of them lol.

Anything Else?: I work from home in tech, and my availability flails around wildly day to day. Other than that, I'm a dungus who likes to read (@ me for my queer fiction recs), play music (I'm learning the lyra and the kalimba), and play video games (all sorts, right now I am juggling Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Fire Emblem Engage, and how bout that Sea of Stars demo y'all?! Character: Law
Canon: Tales of Arise
Canon Point: Shinefall Woods, before reaching Pelegion

Crime: Murder, specifically of several friends that he met after he ran away from home. They were actually all murdered by THE GOVERNMENT but Law still has nightmares and feels guilty about it anyway, so it's definitely gonna mess with his head a little.

Background: Law's world, Dahna, has been enslaved by Rena, the technologically advanced planet adjacent to theirs, for 300 years. His parents were leaders in a rebel faction, and Law was raised with strong convictions—and also in secret, so he was never properly enslaved with the rest of his people. At around age 10, his mom got sick and died while his father was away, and the neglect that followed prompted him to run away from home. Ordinarily it wouldn't be possible to leave the realm, but he managed to sneak into the next one over and was promptly traumatized, then coerced into working for the Renans in exchange for his life. He carried on like that for several years, until the main group's party winds up crossing paths with him. They happen to have Law's dad along with them, and he bitterly attacks his father and winds up getting him captured. Although he's convinced to have a change of heart and rushes in to save his father from execution at the last second, ultimately his dad dies anyway, and after the city is liberated, Law goes along with the party since he ain't got much else to do and has a bone to pick with. The world.

Abilities: The short versions are that he's a martial artist and can do some pretty sick moves, some of which involve incorporating elemental attacks. He can punch through solid objects like walls and boulders. And he has a knack for getting on with animals, especially of the farmyard variety. He can kinda "understand" them even though he doesn't speak animal.

Plans: Everything. There is a looot to unpack with his castmates, naturally, but I'd love for him to make some friends outside of his circle. He can be a little bit suspicious of strangers, but he's one of those kinda morally gray types that knows the value of alliances of convenience and all that jazz. Once he warms up to you, he's a friendly, playful kinda dude. Of course I'm also open to negative CR. Law has no tolerance for self-serving shitheads and as a Certified Hothead, it doesn't take much goading to get him to pick a fight.

When she isn't bopping around time and space, she's an English Lit teacher (loves classic novels, in an on-again/off-again relationship with Jane Austen) in a secondary school. Most of her students are taller than her. Her last serious relationship abruptly ended when he got hit by a car literally seconds after Clara said 'I love you.' So, there's some stuff to work out there. Her relationship before that (Sabine, mother of Artie and Angie) ended years ago but they remained best friends until Sabine was hit by a car and killed. Clara was actually taking care of her children in the aftermath when she first met the Doctor. Oh, and her mum was killed when aliens came to town, back during the 9th Doctor's run.

OH RIGHT, she split herself into thousands of echoes of herself that were then tossed into the Doctor's time stream to make sure he never dies when he isn't supposed to.

Abilities: Extremely acrobatic swordsman who was biohacked into a powerful elementalist that explodes when upset. Basically. He uses mostly water and ice magic.

Plans: Plans will crystalize more with time. Vholran is a character who has done awful things, like brutally rule over a slave nation, in canon but canon also tries to make it clear that he isn't purely evil. At this point in his life, he can't be fully redeemed but maybe he can find somewhat more productive ways to vent his anger. Tales of Arise does not do a deep exploration of his character but his premise is very interesting. I want to explore the character in ways the game maybe was going to do but did not in the version of it we ended up getting.

Vholran will probably not make friends easily but he can attempt to form alliances.

He is a very unpleasant man so please don't have your character provoke him if you don't want to deal with ic consequences. This isn't to say I intend to make him impossible to interact with. Usually, he is content to leave people alone as long as they aren't a threat to him. Since he has a very high opinion of himself people need to prove they are threats. I'm here to play a villain but not one that will be on an unending rampage and making the game annoying to play in.

Alphen is a good lad who tries his best, despite being somewhat of an idiot, so I'm excited for him to start developing CR. He's pretty good at talking to people and getting them to open up, so it creates good opportunities for him to meet a lot of different types of people. I'm very interested in the following:

He's a weirdo but he kinda likes humans and brought the ones that he felt needed extra protection there for safekeeping. Sometimes he forgot to ask first.

Abilities: He can make plants grow and turns into a mushroom if he's sad/scared/hurt. He can also place curses, normally mild and comical if you ever have an urge to point and laugh at your own character.

Plans: Make friends! Daeshim has had a pretty lonely life and he's got a lot of curiosity (and affection) in him. He pretty much has one (1) expression most of the time but he's not as grumpy as he looks.

Background: Imagine the "model president" archetype. You know the kind: always looking out for others, gentle and empathetic, the shoulder everyone cries on when they're feeling down. Now imagine if that model president actually resented his position and hid an extreme loathing for everyone using him as a therapist, and you have Ritsu. It's bad to the point that he's surrounded with both Christ and Lucifer references in-game: a devil that everyone mistakes for a messiah, essentially.

Abilities: He can cover himself in black flames and shapeshift into a scary-looking skeleton man called Lucid, which is an ability he mostly uses to live out a different identity. He can also weaponize his emotions and turn them into magic. Look, it's complicated, so just check out his app for a rundown of how it works.

Plans: Expect him to continue to pretend he's the model president when he's acting as Ritsu (and maybe bring out Lucid once in a while when he gets sick of acting nice). While he's probably not Sherlock Holmes levels of observant, he is very perceptive and has an odd tendency to profile his acquaintances, so here's a permissions post for that. Genuine positive CR, in which he actually feels anything akin to attachment towards anyone, is probably going to be tough. I'm down for just about anything else, in the meantime, though.

Notably, Ritsu is smart enough to pick up on when he's being manipulated, but he also happens to be very susceptible to certain types of manipulation nonetheless. I find that that can make for some pretty interesting CR, especially since he's very capable of manipulation himself.

Ritsu sounds so incredibly intriguing to me.

For different reasons, I could see interactions with Aerith and Kisara both viable. Aerith would likely be very sympathetic to his position and him as a person, with her largely gentle exterior. Kisara has been a slave to a man who was in a position of power and I think she'd be very intrigued to get into the head of someone with those leadership skills to get a better understanding of what that's like and how much she might not understand.

I see both working out and I'm inclined to send them both Ritsu's way when opportunity presents itself.

Background: Shionne is a Renan from Lenegis, which means she has magic and also martial abilities. Because of her family line, she was born with the Thorns curse that is activated by anyone touching her or when her emotions become too much for her to handle. The dark sparking energy overloads the nervous system and causes excruciating pain for those who touch her until they pass out. However, she escapes to Dahna where she teams up with the enslaved Dahnans Zephyr and Alphen to take down the Five Renan Lords and interrupt the Crown Contest for her own reasons.

Abilities: - Astral Artes (magic abilities focused on fire, water, wind, earth and dark elements, as well as healing) that makes her eyes glow
- Thorns curse (dark elemental magic that appears to cover her body in black, sparking 'thorns' or lightning that damages anyone who touches her)
- Rifle skills (she can summon a rifle where she shoots lots of bullets and uses special ammo that can be infused with magical elements to confuse those in battle)
- Maiden (She doesn't know about this yet, but she has the ability to help guide the mixing of all six elements of astral energies alongside the Sovereign in a special ceremony. It hasn't come up for her yet, so she doesn't know this exists. Yay?)

Plans: I would love for Shionne to continue on her course of making friends and discovering that she has more to live for than she thinks. She has a bit of her canon friends here, but I really want her to make more and continue to open up. Also, tell her about your food and fashion from your worlds! She will be fascinated. Not looking for any romantic CR, since Alphen exists and she's denying that right now, but all the other CR I am open for! Crime: The crimes of the Grannvale Empire.

Background: Ethlyn is a noblewoman born to a ducal house in Grannvale, became the lady of the house when she was still young because of her mother's death, and went on to marry her brother's best friend, Prince Quan of Leonster. She has two children (toddler Altena and baby Leif) with him. She joined her brother Sigurd in his rush to rescue a childhood friend of theirs, and that snowballed into them fighting across the continent as new petty tyrants popped up like whack-a-mole to do injustice things to Sigurd's friends. Unfortunately, while Sigurd was doing this, petty tyrants from their own country followed to snap up the newly-dekingified territories and turn it into an Empire, then declared Sigurd and his mates treasonous so they could dispose of him. Ethlyn is from the point where she and Quan are trying to ride back to Sigurd's aid, only to be ambushed by their own enemies. Also, because it's Fire Emblem, there's an evil dragon involved, but she never becomes aware of that beyond the fact that there are creepy dark mages everywhere.

Abilities: Ethlyn's main role is as a healer, but she's a swordswoman as well. She is actually slightly divinely blessed to be very good at swords, so she can pick up just about any blade and be competent with it. Her healing comes through enchanted staves. At the moment, she has a plain sword and a regular healing staff. Also, she's a skilled horsewoman.

Plans: Ethlyn is so confused by her crime because she didn't like Grannvale becoming an empire and tried to oppose it when she realized what was going on. However, the fact that she (and her brother, and her husband) didn't realize what was going on until it was too late is kind of the reason she's been tagged with it. A major theme in the first half of FE4 is how seeming virtues can actually be dangerous if they're not tempered with other things. For Ethlyn's brother, it's his belief that being well-intentioned will make his actions turn out well, for her husband, it's that having the greatest strength of arms will prevent defeat. And as for Ethlyn, her most dangerous trait is that she believes she is the sensible one... when it's really only by comparison to those two. She'll scold them for being reckless and getting injured, but she still rushes into an unknown battlefield without regard for what might be happening behind her. So my hope for an arc for Ethlyn is to have her come to understand how she is responsible for the Grannvale Empire coming into existence--not as responsible as the people who wanted it, certainly, but how her family's failure to see the big picture enmeshed them further and further into a situation that gave their enemies everything they needed to establish a tyrannical reign.

Also, Ethlyn is (as you might expect) kind of a self-appointed Mom Friend, and she will take it upon herself to look after people who seem reckless, otherwise injury-prone, and/or in need of a friend. She also retains the instincts of a little sister when it comes to teasing people. She's very personable and confident, so she's happy to make friends with people.

Notes:
FE4's setting hews pretty close to medieval ideas of adulthood and the age of majority, so Ethlyn's marriage happened when she was ~17 and she's 20 now. She was raised to this sort of life and doesn't see anything wrong or unusual about it, she and Quan dearly love each other, and she's proud of her children. But if you don't want that to come up at all, let me know here and I will refrain from mentioning it!

Since his retirement plan came with a three-years-to-live clause, he was determined to spend his remaining time doing whatever the hell he wanted, but incurable nosiness and a tendency to attract stalkers very determined new friends got him involved with found family and dramatic macguffin plots despite his best efforts. Tends to swing between sarcastic politeness and grumpy old uncle depending on what amuses him more at any given moment. Watches more than he wants to let on and cares more than he'll ever be willing to admit.

Abilities: He's a highly skilled wuxia martial artist, so he can do all sorts of physics-defying fighting both bare-handed and with a flexible sword. His sect specializes in speed and agility as well as disguise techniques because "knowing everything in the world" is not only a sect motto but a way of life.

Plans: I'm mostly interested in getting him making connections with other characters because Zhou Zishu is someone who does best when he has other people to worry about. He's doing better about opening up to people as of his canon point and I'd like to continue making him work on that. Sparring partners, drinking buddies, nosy folks who want to trade gossip information. He's also done some martial arts training, though he is definitely the tough love kind of teacher.

Outside of the RP world, I've a work background in admin, accounting, and data analysis. When I'm not working, I'm a musician (classically trained in piano and flute, learning violin, also experienced with other woodwinds and bass guitar) and classically-trained vocalist! If it's an art form, performing or visual, it's a safe assumption that I do it in some way.

I do analysis and dissection on the video game industry as a whole, examining story line narratives, character motivations, music composition, graphic design, etc., etc. I love video games of all genres, though am a big fan of Fire Emblem, the original God of War, the original Drakengard, the Legend of Zelda, and more, etc., etc. WOW, THAT WAS A LOT. Character: Aerith Gainsborough

Crime: Abandonment. This is really kind of a reference to her childhood friends (like Kyrie), how her Ancient powers affected said relationships, in addition to Zack's passing, and some of the other lives that are now in the Lifestream.

Background:
Local flower girl is the last of her kind, very friendly, and a chaos gremlin with good intentions! More seriously, Aerith is a street-savvy young woman who appears much more delicate than she actually is. She isn't the most well-versed in combat, but she has an incredible emotional strength about her that allows her to be empathetic, an excellent listening ear, and just an all around good friend.

As a note, I took her as a CRAU from isleofavalon, where I played her for a year, but nothing about her really changed. She'll very slowly regain memories from her adventure, but it probably won't serve as much more than conversation pieces.

- She's got some weird Ancient powers, which I might play with here and there, though many of these seem insignificant. She gets to commune with the life presence in Expiation, so that's pretty cool.
- Very good with plants. DO YOU LIKE PLANTS? IF YOU KNOW AERITH, YOU DO NOW, BECAUSE SHE WILL NOT LET YOU LIVE OTHERWISE.
- She has some materia on her (but no staff...) and can use some of that magic. She also has a materia that she wears in her hair that she insists does nothing!

- I really want Aerith to just befriend and learn a lot about other people. Make friends. Try to open the minds of others. (Vholran, I'm looking at you. She's going to try, damn it.)
- She'll eventually figure out that she and Balthier know one another from Avalon and that'll be a good time with all of their complexities.
- I'm really interested in her exploring the concept of what her responsibility might be as the last of her kind, how that impacts society (back home) as a whole, where her focus might need to be, and general self improvement.

Canon Point: Following the fight with the Venoflage, prior to Kisara rejoining Alphen and the others (i.e., prior to removal of her embedded stone)

Crime: Fratricide. KISARA HAS A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ONE.

Background:
Like many of the others of our ToA cast, Kisara is a Dahnan slave, serving Renans.

Kisara and her older brother lost their parents when they were very young and as a result, she's adopted a very maternal / sister-like demeanour with others around her. She took care of orphaned children before she and her brother joined the guard for their homeland of Menancia. When Dohalim came into power, Kisara became his guard captain and was designated to guarding him.

BUT THEN HE REALLY SCREWED UP AND KISARA is struggling a lot with that as well.

She's an incredibly strong and resilient woman from both a combat standpoint and a mental and emotional fortitude fashion, but beneath this, she possesses insecurities and an underlying concern than she isn't 'ladylike' enough, among other flaws and imperfections. Quick to put herself into danger on behalf of others without thinking, Kisara is adamantly devoted and really fits the 'knight' stereotype.

- She is wickedly good with a tower shield and a mace. Really, she'll knock you right on your arse. If she can get to you, of course.
- She has a bunch of abilities that I'm not going to list here, but I have a link to them on her app.
- Kisara is phenomenal at fishing!
- She's also quite good at cooking, tailoring, and other more domestic / mundane tasks.

Plans:
- She still has her slave stone in her hand. I'm sure at some point she will consider removing it! (But I want to work up to this because she's got some baggage she needs to trail herself through.)
- Kisara is struggling a lot with the death of her brother due to the canon point I took her from (which is rather early) and has a lot to deal with. Her crime points toward this and she'll be considering how responsible she was for the ordeal, but maybe that will ultimately help her relationship with Dohalim (which is very not good right now).
- She's best when she's keeping herself busy and that's what she's going to try to do! If you need help with something, she is going to help you! Seriously, please help her keep herself occupied, because that's the best defence mechanism in the face of whatever the heck is going on here.

Crime: Resisting arrest

Background: Definitely one of those characters that needs a blanket apology up front. He's rude, crude, and a troll, can be nasty and confrontaional but also chill and fun to party with for the right person. Bartolomeo is a pirate captain and former mafia boss with complete disregard for authority and the world's most hilarious man-crush on Luffy and fanboy obsession with the Straw Hats. A Super Rookie with a 200mil bounty, he is considered rather dangerous by the government but all you have to do is get on his good side or figure out how to make deals with him and he'll be a hell of an ally. Oh, he's also 7 feet tall so have fun wth that.

Abilities: he has a Devil Fruit, the Bari-Bari Fruit which creates invisible barriers. He won't be using them as often on himself or others except in the rare PvP situation, they're far more useful independently to create shields, walls, etc.

Plans: I really want to see how many more crimes he can possibly commit, or encourage others to commit, while exploring the nature of what is good and bad for someone of nebulous morality who comes from a world where fighting the power is a necessity. If he creates a new mafia underground, even better, but there's also room to see if someone else can act as a positive influence on him the way Luffy does in canon. Or, if sentencing/dealing with it can actually rehabilitate his worst behavior. He has so much potential to go either way and I am ready to roll with all the punches.

Crime: Criminal Abandonment - when one person stops providing for the care, protection, or support for their spouse who has health problems or children who are minors without “just cause.”

Background: On Dahna, Zephyr is the leader of a resistance group known as the Crimson Crows and has spent a large chunk of his life fighting for the freedom of his people against the Renans who maybe definitely sort of came down from the neighboring world and enslaved everyone roughly 300 years ago. At one point he wound up getting married to another resistance fighter and together they had a son whose birth they kept a secret, but when his son was around ten years old his wife had fallen ill. Zephyr left to try and find medicine for her but unfortunately by the time he returned with it, she had passed away. Throwing himself into the fight even harder than before, this subsequently led to him inadvertently neglecting his family (apparently he didn't even turn up to her funeral smh) and drove his only child to run away. Without knowing whether or not he was alive or dead, he kept on fighting the Renans.

Years down the line he winds up derailing a train, discovers Shionne and Alphen, and with the two of them finally succeeded in overthrowing the present Renan lord of Calaglia, Balseph. This attracted the attention of other resistance groups which resulted in Zephyr and Co. traveling to the next realm over where he discovered that not only was his son was alive, but he was also working and fighting alongside the Renans. Refusing to fight his own child (and abandon him a second time), Zephyr winds up captured and brought back to Cysloden to await whatever "punishment" the local Lord has in store for him. It's death. That particular instance hasn't happened for him yet tho

Abilities: The short version of it is Zephyr can punch really really good. To make things a little scarier he's even able to throw in some elemental attacks into the mix, but if you want to see this in action? Here's a handy dandy boss fight bc for some reason he never uses these when he's w/ the party :)))) silly Dahnans, he even taught some of these to his son as a kid, oops.

A LOT OF THESE WILL WIND UP BEING NERFED DOWN but that doesn't mean he's any less formidable! Dude has been fighting for a loooooong time and by Dahnan standards he's pretty old at the prime age of 45.

Plans: AS CHEAP AS IT FEELS TO SAY everything. Slaps Zephyr's back, this bad boy can fit so much baggage and he never seemed to have a chance to properly sort through and deal with any of it?? There's a t o n for him to unpack wrt his son and castmates, but I also want him to finally experience what it truly means to be free since in canon he maybe had like. a couple weeks worth of it? But now he's got the chance to experience a world like Dahna should've been, pick up some honest-to-god hobbies that don't involve punching the hell out of things, and really get his big ol' hands on some tech. Negative CR is always welcome too, and despite his own rough life he still tries to see the good in a lot of people even if they've done some Messed Up™ stuff. They've all been there okay

Background: vi is an orphan that grew up in the "undercity" of piltover. she's rash, sarcastic, and kind of an asshole, but at the center of it all she is a (mostly) okay person. her temper gets the best of her at the best of times, and she's very outspoken and ready to stick it to the man at any given time LMAO.

on top of being an orphan, she also lost her other father figure and some friends, as well as watching her sister's descent into madness. the last thing she remembers is a massive bomb heading towards where the council in piltover was making plans to free the "undercity" and make them their own nation.

so that's fun.

Abilities: she's good at beating shit up with her bare hands, and even better if she can get some gauntlets to beat the shit out of people even better.

Plans: i'm just getting in here! i'm really open to pretty much anything, and at the current moment i'm just going to get my footing and gain some CR before vi does anything ridiculous. which probably won't take too long.

Tea | Wen Kexing & Abe no Seimei

Anything Else?: Hello, I'm Tea! I'm in EST land, but work overnight reception at a vet clinic so my hours are a bit weird. My interests include tarot/oracle cards, horror of all kinds, Critical Role, Marvel 616 (mostly Iron Man ngl), folklore, and a variety of weird anime that usually involve youkai, cooking, or some combination of the two. Also some Cdramas and Kdramas, usually mystery/suspense and supernatural. I am a night beast.

Character: Wen Kexing
Canon: Word of Honor
Canon Point: episode 31, before reaching Zhou Zishu

Crime: Failing and abandoning his people. Technically he is leader of the miserable outcasts and terrible criminals of Mount Qingya, but he does not accept this. Fuck 'em.

Background: When Wen Kexing was a kid, his family got mixed up in a political conflict by volunteering to hide the series' McGuffin, which got his parents killed and got him thrown into the abandoned land called the Valley of Ghosts, named because only those who were dead to society lived there. He was raised among violence and self-serving schemes until he got his revenge by killing the chief of ghosts and taking over. Then he spent almost all of the next decade hating the noble groups that put him there, so he decided why NOT go for bonus revenge? Except the civilized world is really full of hot guys and he met someone and adopted a second kid, so. Best laid plans.

He's kind of a meatball anyway so his plan wasn't great to start with.

Abilities: He's got goofy fantasy martial arts so he can channel his energy to make weapons out of rocks and nuts or walk without leaving footsteps and bounce unnaturally high to rooftops, stuff like that. Martial arts, but with suspension of disbelief. He's a pretty good rudimentary medic and known for being one of the strongest fighters in his canon, partly because he has no formal training and is just wild and unpredictable. He's real good with flute and cooking?

Plans: This man has had one friend his entire life. He does not know how to friend. I would love to see how different types of people interact off of him? Also have some morality discussions since he is basically the king of villains but also the outcast heroic heir? And the neighborhood stray dog. I'd like to eventually have him come more to terms with his role as chief of the hellhole rather than denying it all like he wants to as well.

Canon Point: modern times, well after his last "disappearance"

Crime: Destroying the world. So it turns out when you use all your exes' resources to cut humanity off from spiritual powers they get so pissed no one talks about it? And that's the one thing no one else blames you for!

Background: He has the popular culture trappings of fan wielding, mysterious mage, but this version of Seimei is mostly some average guy wearing all of the legends and rumors built up over time. He used to be a renowned onmyouji and is pretty skilled at magic, but he's also the guy who mostly got to the top by asking a lot of favors and making friends in high places. The biggest spell he cast did really alter history by temporarily separating the human world and spiritual worlds, but that was 90% borrowed power and a very one time act--and why he has a lot of rough relationships. His whole career centered on peacekeeping and keeping the balance between all sides, so to keep humans from using appeals to gods to destroy each other, he just split everyone up. He still tries to keep the balance in modern times, but from a more tired perspective very done with politics and duties and now without most of his old ties. He worked hard, disappointed everyone, and all he has to show for it is legends of being a tyrant or demon king while he's buying canned oden from vending machines.

Abilities: His actual magic are mostly small, single use spells like charms and paper talismans that do things like cast an illusion or lock/unlock a door or cause temporary invisibility. Binding and sealing and all that take time, more setup, and raw power that he actually doesn't have a lot of without support.
- He does have natural charisma? But magical vibes so that can be off-putting or uncanny.
- He has youkai blood, so he has spiritual sight and lives a long time.
- He can channel energy if there is energy to channel. His personal reservoir is pretty mediocre currently.
- He has studied divination, but mileage may vary since time is very flexible.
- He can share a spiritual bond with other creatures in the form of a contract where both sides support each other's energy, but this is a rather outdated form of magic that not many humans still use. And he did piss off a lot of the magic community.

Plans: This man is retired and lazy and avoiding serious things. So I would love to make him take himself more seriously and learn how to reconnect. I also think it'd be fun to have him make friends as the experienced/chill supportive end? And maybe not just living in the shadow of his own work at some point. But being that annoying guy constantly asking to borrow shit and doing weird projects next door at 3am is fine too.

Background: Normal girl turned Rebellion member turned Magical Sorceress. Rinoa is a fairly bright and outgoing teenager who's seen some Things, but hasn't let them get her down. Can, admittedly, be a bit pushy. If that's an issue feel free to reach out to me and say so! No hard feelings!

Abilities: As a sorceress Rinoa has some pretty epic skills with magic. For sake of game balance, she has access to elemental magic, healing magic, and the different base houses of magic. But nothing like.. Life or anything that might be game breaking.

Can also levitate, because she can grow wings. But no Actual Flying. But it's still Style Points!

Plans: Rinoa's.... not even going to pretend like she's not guilty of her charge. Because she's quite proud of it actually. Early game Rinoa might have gone around openly talking about her charge, post game Rinoa has learned a little more discretion. Thankfully.

First order is obviously getting her settled in. But after that? I honestly don't have any plans beyond Make CR. Rinoa's honestly waiting for DOOM to drop, so is currently going to be trying to just enjoy herself as much as she can, while she can. Make friends! Do the Things!
