Hello everyone! Like the Gnosia event, we have included a text box to sum up in a few words what your character did, if they did anything during the event. You may answer with a simple "yes" or "no", but players who want to outline what they did may do so in their answers. If there are not enough characters to explain it, drop it in the comments! If there's something your character might've done that isn't listed, drop it in the comments!

We know we've mentioned before that this is important to the game but this is probably the most important poll yet, so please make sure to take the time to answer! The next SOTG will have the results of the poll to give everyone time to think carefully and thread out what they'd like to do before answering.

So! On to the poll. Did your character:

Hey everyone!! The mod team has decided that we're going to extend the event poll to the end of the month. So instead of it closing on the 25th, it's now going to close on July 31st at 11:59 PM EST. Not only has the mod team had a rough month, but we've noticed the player base has as well. We want everyone to feel like they can get involved to the extent they want to and not feel rushed to answer, since it's a pretty important event!

After the event is over on July 22nd, the city will return to a semi-normal state. The only oddities are those that were outlined in the state of the game and CR meme are still in effect, though! Almost as if everyone wasn't trying to kill each other a few days ago.......

Since I'm linking to the SOTG post and for those who might have missed the announcement on plurk or discord, the AC page has been updated with the new rules and clarifications. Thank you everyone for taking the time to give us feedback on it! We do try our best to listen when we feel like we're able.

Thanks for reading!!

Thanks to all who participated in the event poll! Here's what you can expect after the end of the event on March 31:

For characters who regained five memories or more according to the poll:
As you regain your memories of your previous life, you're struck with startling clarity: your life in Aldrip is fake. The strange memories you're recovering, those are your real life, the life you had before arriving in this world. You have no doubt in your mind about this. Your memories fall back into place with no problems or complications, and you are easily able to sort out your true memories from the memories of the AU.

For characters who regained fewer than five memories according to the poll, or did not answer the poll at all:
You begin to regain flashes of memories, flashes of some previous life, but your memories of a life in Aldrip continue to persist, asserting that they are your real memories. This is your true life. Even after the event is over, your two sets of memories come into conflict, causing emotional distress and confusion. What is real? What is a lie? You can't tell, you no longer know who you are, you're disoriented and none of this makes sense.
Over time, these effects may lessen, especially after a large emotional breakdown. But for the forseeable future, you may still have moments where you question which reality is real.

In addition to the above, characters who regained very few memories, or none at all, have the option to permanently lose any memories, if you desire. These memories can be regained later through activity rewards.

Characters who were on hiatus during the event or who otherwise did not participate may be immune to the after effects of it, if you desire. We know yall got stuff to do.

After the event ends on March 31, all characters can have access to their full canon memories (and powers!) once more, unless you choose to have them suffer some form of permanent, lasting memory loss. They can still remember their memories of the AU for the foreseeable future. The world will also turn back to a more recognizable state, including the return of NPCs. There will be more information on the state of the world in April's SOTG post. Stay tuned!

Thanks to all who participated in the event and the poll! Here are some of the immediate changes after the end of the event:

THE MONSTER
Thanks to William's coordination of the Chosen, as well as Toph's rock-made prison, the team facing the monster is able to capture it, rather than killing it outright. It struggles against its binding for a while, but soon, characters may notice that the black streaks that cover its body start to recede. After about a day, the "monster" turns out to be this. It'll squeeze out of the cage Toph built for it and get back into the water, spooked about the cage, the oxygen, and all the humans that keep Looking At It.

The octopi that The Chosen fought also disappear after a day or so, strangely enough. There's no trace of them, not even streaks of corruption on the ground from their presence.

THE CORRUPTION
With the main source of the corruption gone, it begins to recede from the earth. Thanks to character help and resources, everything will be fairly normal by the end of the month.

Food isn't scarce, but the limited crops for the time being will make fresh things briefly less available. There's still storehouses that have food stockpiled and game to hunt, so Chosen will be able to get through any shortage mostly intact.

The corruption begins to recede from the buildings, as well. There are some homes/buildings that have indeed crumbled, but as there are a lot of player-owned businesses and homes in Aldrip, the Mod Team will let the players decide how much (if any) damage their buildings took in the event. The Inn and City Hall remain untouched through it all anyway, oddly enough.

THE WORLD
The Chosen have done quite a lot to help the locals of Aldrip, and thanks to their efforts against the monster and its minions, the locals have warmed up to the nicest they’ve been since October’s events. They're not worshiping the Chosen again, but they are being very kind to them. They'll help rebuild, but some of the more aggressive NPCs will very strongly make the case to Chosen that they would like even more help to get the city back in order. They do realize that Jinx had committed violent acts against them, but if asked or the subject brought up, they'll grimly mutter about how the Council will deal with her.

The animals that were scared off during the event begin to come back several days after the attack, making hunting easier starting about one week after the event. Hunters may need to trek a little further away from Aldrip to get some wildlife... but it begins to come back now that the event's over. Some aggressive monsters remain that need to be taken down, but those are fewer and farther in between at this point.

That wraps this event up, and any other changes to the world will happen after the SOTG! Questions are always welcome, and you may leave them down below.

The maze disappeared on Monday, September 18, and Aldrip returned to its usual state of mostly normal. Aldrip's locals do not seem to have any memory of the event, and if Chosen try to tell them about it, they'll laugh it off as a story or a dream. Surely that must be all it is. These Chosen, they have such wild imaginations!

Thanks to all who participated in the event and the poll! Here are some of the immediate changes after the end of the event:

Locals and the Chosen
As of today, September 20, Aldrip's locals become more wary of the Chosen as a whole. This is not a gradual change; it's as if their entire mindset has changed overnight. While they opened their businesses and lives to the Chosen before, now they regard them with a little more fear, keeping an eye on them in their shops, making sure to get payment for goods and services up front.

For those who have committed acts of violence or sabotage in the maze, like Saito, Akechi, and Fyodor, they will find that the locals are especially concerned, not just about them but about any other characters who are linked to them.

In addition, the locals become less tolerant of petty crime. This means that Chosen who are inclined to commit those crimes (or have in the past) may find themselves being watched more frequently in public. Hard to say how the Locals know this is coming; maybe they're just paying better attention? Or maybe they're forming some sort of neighborhood watch amongst themselves? Either way, they may find themselves asked to stop loitering, or to prove that they're not doing something nefarious.

The Council
Chosen may frequently hear the locals lamenting the uptick in crime, and talking about what they can do to feel safer. They throw around a variety of ideas, most frequently mentioning that they need someone to step in and deal with those unruly Chosen.

They may also hear whispers of "the Council," the mysterious force that seems to govern how crime in Aldrip is punished. While the Chosen may not have dealt with them directly, some locals mention them on occasion. Now, even moreso. Locals seem to be petitioning the Council to send more law enforcement to protect them and keep them safe. Some locals also suggest that they "need to seek the guidance of the Council" when dealing with the Chosen, such as when Chosen are seeking jobs and housing.

Local area effects
Local monsters have never been easy to deal with, but their numbers seem to have lessened after the maze disappeared, or maybe they've calmed down due to the change in seasons. Either way, monsters currently feel more wary of populated areas, and pose less of a threat than they did before.

We'll have more updates and changes in the SOTG post on October 1.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll! These are the results on the world from the input from you all:

  • Even though some of you all made the fairies angry in one way or another or just with kindness… Kotone…, fairy relations seem to be getting better. Mr. Expedition disappears after the event and the Chosen get back to Aldrip, and the rest of the fairies give the Chosen a map to the ruins, in case they’d want to go back and investigate them some more. Most of the fairies go back to tending the grounds around Aldrip (which are beginning to get green again! Plants are starting to come back to life, even though most probably couldn’t tell what they are yet…), while others might get kind of nosy with the Chosen. They’re not permanent companions to the characters, but sometimes while they’re going about their day, they might sense a presence… and a fairy may or may not be curiously looking over their shoulders. It’s almost as if they’re trying to learn from the Chosen. Weird.

How do you get back to the desert, you might ask? The fairies will portal characters there again if they ask nicely. Any sort of rudeness will still result in being Afflicted temporarily, but since it’s almost half a day’s walk out to the ruins, it’s the easiest way back out there.

  • There were some Infected saved. 10 New npcs have gone back to Aldrip to help continue the rebuilding of the city – though half split off towards the outskirts to work on another project. What is it? Who knows.

If characters question the Infected on their life before, they won’t be able to tell them anything. Questions will be met with blank stares, and sometimes even with comments to the effect of “I was always here”. They’re not that helpful in that regard, but they’ll work.

    Kind of.

The five not working on the Mystery Project will start to build something that looks like residences, at least some of the time. The rest of the time they might be distracted while painting murals of the characters that had saved them and brought them back to Aldrip. They’ll get back to it.

Eventually. But characters are more than welcome to help! Especially considering that these new npcs quite literally had to pitch a tent to stay in, since there’s no room in the inn. They don’t seem to mind, and if asked, they’ll tell them they’re building new homes for their Saviors.

  • There’s still some possessions and tech that’re buried in the rubble back in the desert. Most of the traps had been sprung by this point, so it’s much easier to make another sweep of the city. However, characters are only safe during the daytime in the city. The Ghosts are all that’s left, and they only come out at night. The ones who weren’t satiated are even stronger than before, so while characters may go at night, it’s highly dangerous. It’s not like you can see much anyway without that bonfire the fairies made! The full moon at night can only go so far.

  • Characters who have gotten their hands on the tech can bring it back, as well as anything else they’d picked up in the desert. Not that it’ll work though, because now that it’s been activated so many times already, the battery has shut down. Characters may go back into the desert and see if they can find some spare parts or a charging cable, but at this time there’s not much of a way to fix them. You’re still welcome to tinker with it, though.

  • As we said before, people who were injured by the Infected or Ghosts experience a much slower healing process. Traditional healers can’t use their magic on them either to speed up the process. But at least that’s the only drawback to being hurt by them! Probably.

  • There weren’t many who stayed behind in Aldrip, so the strange mannerisms may have gone largely unnoticed. However, there might be whispers throughout town here and there that something might be up with them…

But hey, at least with a bunch of people gone, they were able to gather supplies! Turns out that the locals in Aldrip and the newer batch that came from the desert were both on the same page about building new residences for the Chosen.

  • You two people who wanted to bang Mr. Expedition… he’s just Not Interested.

PART I: ACTIVITY CHECK RESULTS & NOTES

    Hello Expiation!

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who submitted their AC.

We saw multiple players miscounting comments on backdated threads and that may be due to a lack of more specific clarification on AC expectations. We are not changing our AC requirements, so that is not something anyone needs to be concerned about. We are only clarifying what we expect. (This has also now been reflected on the AC page as well. Please reread it, if necessary, and contact us if you have questions.)

On backdated threads, which are acceptable as proofs, you still have to provide an appropriate number of comments from the current month. Meaning, even if you were using a thread you started in February, the number of comments from March are the number that we are counting.

We are not penalising or sweeping any player who failed to meet this on this month due to multiple players inaccurately counting March comments with their submissions. Please keep this in consideration for future AC submissions because we will penalise and sweep repeats of this on future AC checks.

Another thank you to everyone who participated in the poll where we inquired about how to adjust dates for our reserve and application cycles. Many people did not seem to have much of a preference, but we had a greater number of people who requested that we push forward reserve and application cycles by one week. As a result...

The moderator team has stated this a few times, but we will issue another reminder for all current players and prospective players. After this upcoming cycle of reserves and applications, we will open future reserves and applications on a bi-monthly schedule, opposite of event months.

The next event will take place in mid-May. Please feel free to use this month for event aftermath and downtime for characters and players alike, and other lighter-of-heart interactions as you see fit.

We are planning to provide an EMP / ATP for the game and players / characters you wish to enable, however, are currently pending date / schedule on when we'd like to make this available. We are considering doing this near either the end of April or sometime in May when we are closer to posting the next TDM.

The next new TDM will be posted at the end of May, and the next reserve and application cycle will begin June.

As ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the moderator team. We are here to help and clarify anything that may be confusing or difficult to understand.

    Hello Players!

We would like, if we may, to direct your attention to this poll on the mod plurk.

We are reexamining the way we have reserves and applications dated.

At present, we use the last Monday of the month for Reserves, and one week after that (so, the first Monday of the following month) for Applications.

We are considering pushing that forward by either 1 week, or 2, to accommodate better EMP, which goes up the 2nd Saturday of the month, as we realise at present if you advertise for Expiation, there's not a lot of time available for prospective players to submit applications for the current cycle if they're interested.

We realise that using this terminology of 'last Monday' / 'first Monday' can be confusing, so let us use this upcoming cycle as an example.

    Presently:
    - Reserves are scheduled to open 27 March, 2023.
    - Applications are scheduled to open 03 April, 2023.

If we forward that by 1 week:
    - Reserves would open 03 April, 2023.
    - Applications would open 10 April, 2023.

If we forward that by 2 weeks:
    - Reserves would open 10 April, 2023.
    - Applications would open 17 April, 2023.

The poll in question will be up until 31 March and whatever the result, we'll test it out with the upcoming cycle.

As ever, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions.
