terminal scavenger hunt

Hi, expi! As I'm sure many of you know by now, there has been an IC discussion going on re: forming several groups to go seeking out the terminals. Root (computation) suggested to Miller that he take charge of organizing these groups while she would work on organizing the technical side. They are specifically interested in doing the reset after making a backup of the current system. So, just making this post to let the plotting commence!

Obviously this is a player organized sitch, so please feel free to ignore and it and completely do your own thing if that works better for you!

But for those who are interested, here's the basic rundown right now:

- Groups will be assigned by general scouting location (Aldrip and surrounding area, Ketsora, Lorentia Cave, Desert, Pessiria Forest/Rumpitur area, Ruins).

- STEM club will be providing a telemeter to each team which will provide a signal helping lead them to the terminal.

- Communication will take place via the STEM club's established darknet to keep details as secure as possible; characters who can’t already access it will be provided access. Spock, Kirk, and Pike will be acting as support and coordination for everyone.

- ICly, Miller will be looking for at least one tech-savvy person for each group and at least one battle-ready person (but preferably more); he would favor characters going to certain regions based on their own background in game or in their own canon (e.g. he's from an apocalyptic underground society, so he knows how to navigate underground), but we can pretty much flub anything based on your preference.

- If your character wants to be in a group with another particular character or characters, just let me know you'd like them to be paired together!

- If you have a preference for a location you either want your character to go to or don't want your character to go to, also let me know! If no preference is given, I will RNG your character into a team. The idea was originally for 6 teams, but if we get too many people, we'll just have more teams!

- Want to be involved and your character hasn't talked to either Root or Miller? Totally cool to handwave that interaction with Miller! No need to ask my permission. But feel free to add me on shomonkai or hit me up in the game discord @ seraphita2033 if you need to hash anything out.

For the sake of not slowing down the event, sign ups will close on 9/20 at 12 pm PST (GMT -8) at which point I will respond to you with your team assignments! But there is, of course, no time limit on what you devide to do with it. Happy searching, Chosen!

Any partners? Y, Silco and Colonel Miller. Fandaniel is very capable of defending himself as a fairly potent sorcerer but he's been pretending he's just a mediocre mage so expect him to hide behind Miller when things are rough. Enjoy your clown, guys, I'm sorry.

Location preference? ANY, Sora just wants to help. She's good at running and has a lot of stamina from running around labyrinths that have all kind of environments like....floor lava, poison, giant axes, monsters.

She's a martial artist with wind and electricity powers. She's perfectly fine telling people what she can do to help with her placement.
Technical knowledge? Not great. She can press buttons and follow instructions, but she only has normal person IT knowledge.

Location preference? Desert. Tsuna previously led an expedition out to the desert in an attempt to find the ruins of Tresed. He's a little familiar with the area and has maps and resource contacts and all of that! He's been eager to go back there
Technical knowledge? Not a whole lot, he's kind of accepted he'll probably be playing defence and helping where he can

Location preference? Sort of. Due to being all knightly he'd insist on being placed on one of the more dangerous operations in place of someone else due to being used to those circumstances. Otherwise it's a where ever he's needed situation.
Technical knowledge? Yes surprisingly - although it's specifically related to maintenance of his own space ship and the modification of said ship. So- more mechanical leaning. He would not claim to be any good at it though. Needless to say he's also incredibly combat inclined and will die on a hill.
Any partners? Nothing preplanned! Argenti does have a very high opinion of Tsuna due to joining him on the desert expedition but he's generally affable and will get along with most people if they aren't morally abhorrent.

IC Notes:

• Each team will have one person equipped with the telemeter and one person with the darknet communication device.
• The person with comms can be in contact with the other teams' comms members and Spock, Kirk and Pike back in Aldrip playing tech support and coordination.
• Remember all terminals have to be activated SIMULTANEOUSLY so your team must wait for signal from the support team to do it in tandem.
• For environmental opposition, make use of the shadows defending the terminals, get creative with the glitches, and write in monsters or weather effects.
• Some of you upon encountering the terminal will be corrupted or find a childlike data fragment - remember to plot for that!

OOC Notes:

• Characters going to portal locations (Aldrip, Oasis, Ketsora, and Lorentia Caves) may end up teleporting to terminal locations at the end. Feel free to plot with other teams on if they should encounter one another there.
• This is completely unstructured. Discuss if you want a Discord or Plurk DM or how you want to handle organizing turn order and threads. It doesn't need to be one big group thread unless you want -- plotting out the rough sequence of events and having location-based top levels might be a good idea for running into other characters!
• Please be mindful of varying tagging styles and speeds and embrace the timey-wimey nonsense that is likely to result from an event of this size and scale.
